Are Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses waterproof?
No. Ray-Ban’s official FAQ says, “Ray-Ban Meta glasses are IPX4 water resistant.” In practical terms, the Audio glasses can cope with light rain while worn. IPX4 is not a submersion rating, and it does not make the glasses safe for swimming, showering, water sports or being left in heavy rain.

Ray-Ban also states that the product is “not designed to resist submersion or extended exposure to water or other liquids.” That warning covers more than fresh water: avoid prolonged contact with drinks, seawater, pool water, soaps and other liquids. A brief splash is different from wearing the glasses through a downpour or dropping them into a sink.

What to do after the glasses get wet
- Remove the glasses from the water or rain as soon as practical.
- Dry the frames and lenses thoroughly with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth.
- Pay particular attention to the charging areas and remove any visible residue or debris.
- Do not put the glasses into their case or attempt to charge them while moisture or residue remains around the charging contacts.
- If liquid exposure was substantial, allow the glasses and case to dry fully before using or charging them, and consult the product’s safety and warranty guide for the applicable region.
The IPX4 rating does not tell you that every accessory has the same protection. Treat the charging case and any cable or power adapter separately, keeping them away from water unless their own documentation says otherwise.
Common situations
- Light drizzle while walking: within the use Ray-Ban describes, provided you remove and dry the glasses afterward.
- Heavy rain for a long period: outside the stated protection; move the glasses to a dry place as soon as possible.
- Swimming, showering or submersion: not appropriate for an IPX4 product.
- Sweat or splashes: wipe the glasses promptly and keep moisture away from charging areas.
How long does the Ray-Ban Meta Audio battery last?
Ray-Ban’s current US Audio product page advertises up to 12 hours on a single charge and up to 48 additional hours of charge time per fully charged case. These are manufacturer maximums, not a guaranteed runtime or an independent test result. Ray-Ban cautions that results vary with how you use the glasses, configuration, settings, temperature, connectivity and other factors. The claim appears on the Ray-Ban Meta Audio product page.
What “up to” means in practice
A maximum figure represents a favorable test or usage profile. Continuous audio playback, frequent voice-assistant requests, calls, a weak wireless connection, extreme temperatures and higher-volume listening can all produce less time than the advertised maximum. Battery age and software behavior can also affect results. Plan around your own pattern rather than treating 12 hours as a promise that every pair will last exactly that long.

The case figure is also a maximum: Ray-Ban says a fully charged case can provide up to 48 additional hours of charge time. It is not a statement that every user will receive four complete 12-hour cycles, because the glasses may not deliver the single-charge maximum in the same conditions and charging losses and usage patterns differ.
Audio battery versus camera-equipped generations
Do not transfer the Audio specification to camera-equipped Ray-Ban Meta models. Ray-Ban’s FAQ gives separate figures for those generations:

Ways to get closer to the advertised runtime
- Keep the glasses and case within a reliable wireless range of the phone when you need connected features.
- Reduce unnecessary voice-assistant sessions and calls when maximum listening time matters.
- Avoid leaving the glasses in very hot or very cold conditions.
- Recharge before important travel or long listening sessions, and make sure the case itself is charged.
- After rain or a spill, dry the charging areas completely before placing the glasses in the case.
These are practical battery-management steps, not guarantees that a particular pair will reach the published maximum.

Why meeting the OS minimum may not be enough
An operating-system number is a baseline, not a feature guarantee. Ray-Ban notes that feature availability can depend on country and language. A phone may meet Android 10 or iOS 14.4 and still lack a particular feature if that feature has regional, language, account or software restrictions. Phone manufacturers can also change app or permission behavior through system updates.

Audio is therefore the relevant choice for someone who wants the glasses form factor, speakers, calls and voice features without an integrated camera. It is not accurate to describe Audio as having the same hardware or endurance as Gen 1 or Gen 2 camera-equipped glasses.
Setup checklist before you buy or pair the glasses
- Identify the exact model. Confirm that the product is Ray-Ban Meta Audio, rather than a camera-equipped generation, because battery specifications differ.
- Check the phone OS. Use Android 10 or later with location services enabled, or iOS 14.4 or later.
- Install the Meta AI app. Download the current version from your phone’s official app store and review its permissions.

The glasses will not pair or finish setup
- Confirm the phone meets the Android or iOS minimum and install pending operating-system and Meta AI app updates.
- On Android, turn on location services, since Ray-Ban lists that as an additional requirement.
- Check that wireless internet access is available and that you are signed in to the required Meta account.
- Review the app’s Bluetooth, location and notification permissions, then retry setup using the current in-app instructions.
- If a feature is missing rather than pairing itself failing, check country and language availability; the OS minimum alone may not enable every feature.
The battery lasts far less than expected
- Compare your use with the advertised maximum: continuous streaming, calls and frequent voice assistance can reduce runtime.
- Check temperature and connectivity conditions, both of which Ray-Ban identifies as factors that affect results.
- Make sure the case is fully charged and that the glasses make clean contact with its charging areas.
- If the glasses were recently exposed to water, stop charging, dry them thoroughly and clear residue or debris from the charging areas.
- Do not compare Audio’s 12-hour claim directly with the Gen 1 or Gen 2 figures; they are different products.
The glasses were exposed to water
Remove them from the liquid, dry them thoroughly and keep moisture or residue away from the charging contacts. Do not submerge them again or treat IPX4 as permission for prolonged liquid exposure. For damage, safety questions or warranty decisions, use the product’s regional safety and warranty documentation.
