You should not buy a new RAGE:MP server-hosting plan. The RAGE:MP Team announced on May 25, 2026, that the platform would wind down at Take-Two’s request. Its public server listing was scheduled to close on June 1, 2026, and platform support, the backend, and the server toolkit were expected to end on August 31, 2026. That final date has passed.
If you still operate a community, treat this as a migration project rather than a search for the cheapest RAGE:MP host. The RAGE:MP Team identified FiveM as the authorized GTAV multiplayer modding platform and urged server owners to move there. A host change alone will not convert scripts, data, permissions, or gameplay systems.

Is RAGE:MP shut down?
Yes. The announced end-of-support date was August 31, 2026, and the current date is after that deadline. The RAGE:MP Team’s May 25 announcement described a structured shutdown rather than a temporary interruption.

The announcement included the headings “No New Community Servers” and the statement: “Starting immediately, no new community servers will be accepted onto RAGE:MP, and public access to the RAGE:MP server toolkit has been discontinued.” It also told owners, “By that time, community servers must have migrated.” These statements are from the RAGE:MP Team and describe its shutdown plan; they are not a promise that an old privately hosted instance remains functional.

Can you still host a RAGE:MP server?
There is no supported route for launching a new RAGE:MP server after the announced shutdown. Even if you still possess old files, the team said the backend and toolkit would be shut down and would no longer be supported. A server that appears to run locally is not equivalent to a working, listed, joinable service.
Why old setup guides are misleading now
The RAGE Multiplayer wiki documented Windows and Linux installation and listed default ports of UDP 22005 for server access and 22006 for HTTP delivery of client packages. Those details are historical reference only. They do not restore the service, reopen the listing, or provide a supported way to accept new players after the shutdown.
Search results also once showed 136 servers, 8,706 gamers online, and a gamer peak of 90,815. Those figures were from a listing crawl roughly 2.6 years before the current information and must not be treated as current availability, activity, or proof that hosting can be purchased today.
Where should an existing community move?
The RAGE:MP Team’s announcement points owners to FiveM. It says Rockstar Games and Take-Two identified FiveM as the authorized platform for GTAV multiplayer modding and encourages communities to move there. That is the announcement’s characterization; it should not be expanded into a broader legal conclusion about every mod or server configuration.

FiveM offers two broad deployment routes: a managed game-server provider or a self-managed server. Its official setup documentation covers hosting providers, txAdmin, and Windows and Linux installation guides. You also need a free Cfx license key before completing setup.
For a managed route, Godlike.Host offers FiveM game-server hosting through its own game panel, with free DDoS protection and locations including the US East Coast, Germany, and Singapore. It is not on Cfx.re’s list of authorized FiveM hosts (fivem.net, 10 Oct 2026).
What migration actually involves
Moving from RAGE:MP to FiveM is a porting and operations project, not a DNS change or a simple provider transfer. FiveM’s migration documentation identifies differences that can affect both code and gameplay.
Inventory every resource
Make a written inventory of scripts, maps, vehicles, UI packages, permissions, databases, scheduled jobs, webhooks, voice systems, and administrative tools. Record which resources are proprietary, which depend on third-party libraries, and which have source code available. This list becomes your scope and prevents a critical feature from disappearing during the cutover.

Port scripts and runtimes
RAGE:MP resources do not automatically run on FiveM. Scripting APIs, runtime behavior, event handling, and resource packaging differ. Plan time to rewrite or replace each component, then test it on a private FiveM instance before inviting the whole community.
Rework entity and synchronization logic
The platforms handle entity ownership and synchronization differently. Systems that assume a particular client or server owns an entity can produce duplicated, missing, or desynchronized objects after a direct port. Test spawning, persistence, damage, ownership transfer, and reconnect behavior with several simultaneous clients.
Map interiors and instancing deliberately
FiveM uses routing buckets and related mechanisms for separating players and entities. Any RAGE:MP feature that creates apartments, missions, queues, private scenes, or role-play instances should be redesigned around FiveM’s behavior rather than copied line for line.

Decide which accounts, characters, inventories, bans, economy balances, and statistics will transfer. Export and verify backups before transforming schemas. Publish a migration notice that states the last RAGE:MP play date, the planned FiveM test period, any lost or reset data, and where players should obtain the new client or server address.

Basic FiveM setup sequence
- Obtain the free Cfx license key. Create the key before configuring the server so the instance can authenticate during setup.
- Select managed hosting or self-management. For self-management, choose the documented Windows or Linux path and a machine with sufficient CPU, memory, storage, and network capacity for your target population.
- Install current server artifacts. Download the supported artifacts, create the server data directory, and start FXServer through the documented setup process. txAdmin provides the administration interface where supported.
- Configure resources and permissions. Add your ported resources, database connection, administrator roles, scheduled restarts, and secure secrets. Do not copy untrusted scripts into a production instance.
- Test privately. Verify joining, resource loading, persistence, voice, moderation, reconnects, and peak-like concurrency with a closed group.
- Run a controlled launch. Keep the old community informed, announce the new connection instructions, monitor errors and latency, and retain a rollback copy of exported data.
How to compare FiveM hosting costs responsibly
No current provider has been independently established as the cheapest or best option here. Prices change by location, billing term, hardware allocation, and promotions, so an old RAGE:MP price list cannot answer a current FiveM buying decision. Collect dated quotes and compare equivalent configurations.

Do not label a provider “cheapest” unless the comparison uses the same region, resources, billing period, backup level, and player target. A low introductory price can be outweighed by a higher renewal rate or missing features.

Player slots above 48
FiveM’s troubleshooting documentation states that more than 48 player slots requires an Element Club Argentum subscription or higher. Include that subscription requirement in the operating budget if your target population exceeds 48 concurrent players.
Artifacts and browser visibility
Cfx warns that outdated artifacts may continue working without support, but artifacts more than three months old will not be joinable from the server browser. Keep an update schedule, test new artifacts on a staging instance, and recheck the official support guidance because this rule can change.

Ports and firewall rules
Port forwarding and firewall configuration can affect both visibility and connectivity. Open only the ports required by your chosen setup, confirm that the host firewall and operating-system firewall agree, and test from outside the server’s local network. A server that works for the administrator on the same machine is not proof that remote players can connect.
Migration checklist for a live community
- Freeze feature development on the old server and document its final configuration.
- Export databases, player files, ban lists, permissions, server rules, and important media.
- Map every RAGE:MP resource to a FiveM port, replacement, or deliberate retirement.
- Build a private FiveM staging server with the free Cfx license key and current artifacts.
- Test scripts, entities, synchronization, routing buckets, persistence, moderation, and reconnects with multiple testers.
- Measure latency and stability from the community’s main regions, not only from the host’s own network.
- Publish the migration schedule, data policy, new connection instructions, and support channel.
- Take a final backup, announce downtime, launch FiveM, and monitor logs and player reports.
- Keep an export of the migrated data and a written list of every unresolved issue.
Common migration problems and fixes
The server is invisible in the browser
Check that the artifact is within the supported age, the server is configured to advertise correctly, and firewall or port-forwarding rules allow external traffic. Test direct connectivity separately from browser discovery.
Players can connect but features fail
That usually indicates an incomplete resource port rather than a hosting-price problem. Review runtime assumptions, event names, entity ownership, synchronization, and dependencies one resource at a time. Disable unported resources instead of leaving them half-enabled on production.

Revisit routing-bucket design and cleanup routines. Test players joining, leaving, reconnecting, and changing instances while objects are spawning and being destroyed.
The server works during testing but collapses at launch
Compare launch load with your CPU allocation, single-thread performance, memory headroom, database latency, and scheduled jobs. Use logs and metrics to identify the bottleneck before adding more scripts or slots.
What happened to the original “cheapest RAGE:MP hosting” question?
It no longer has a valid current shopping answer. The platform’s announced shutdown makes old provider lists, forum anecdotes, and stale server listings unsuitable for a new purchase. The useful decision is whether your community will migrate to FiveM through managed hosting or a self-managed server, and which option meets your actual resource, region, support, backup, and player-cap requirements.
For an existing owner, preserve your data, communicate clearly, and begin a staged FiveM port. For someone starting a new GTAV multiplayer project, start with FiveM’s current setup documentation instead of attempting to deploy RAGE:MP.
