For Sunday, October 18, 2026, the Classic Quordle puzzle is #1728. You get four five-letter boards, nine guesses shared across all four, and clues below that progress from gentle definitions to the complete answer reveal.

Today’s Classic Quordle clues

Use these clues in board order. Each describes one answer without revealing its spelling.

The four answers

  1. FLINT
  2. FUROR
  3. WEDGE
  4. RODEO

The starting letters, in board order, are F, F, W and R. Of the four answers, only FUROR contains a repeated letter: the letter R appears twice.

How Quordle works

Quordle combines four Wordle-style boards on one screen. Every five-letter guess is submitted to all four boards simultaneously, so one word can uncover information in several places at once. You have nine total guesses rather than nine guesses per board.

  • Green: the letter is correct and in the correct position on that board.
  • Yellow: the letter occurs in that board’s answer but is in the wrong position.
  • Gray or absent: the letter is not available in that board’s answer, subject to the game’s normal duplicate-letter rules.

Because the same guess affects every board, an opening word with several common, distinct vowels and consonants can be more valuable than a word chosen for only one suspected answer. Once a board has several confirmed letters, switch to guesses that test its pattern while still supplying useful letters to the unsolved boards.

A practical way to solve today’s set

  1. Start with coverage. Use an opening guess that tests frequent vowels and consonants. Avoid spending an early turn on a word containing several duplicate letters unless the board evidence points that way.
  2. Read each board independently. A yellow tile on one board does not mean that letter is misplaced in the same way on another board; tile colors are calculated separately for each answer.
  3. Exploit the initial letters. If you are using the hints, F, F, W and R narrow the candidate lists immediately. Keep the two F-starting boards separate so evidence from one does not incorrectly determine the other.
  4. Protect the guess budget. With nine shared attempts, prefer a guess that either solves a board or tests several uncertain letters across the remaining boards.
  5. Check duplicate-letter logic. FUROR is the only answer here with a repeated character. If your tiles indicate a second occurrence of a letter, account for it rather than rejecting a candidate because the word looks unusual.

When does the October 18 puzzle reset?

WordSolverX labels this set as Quordle #1728 for October 18, 2026 and reports that Daily modes reset at midnight Japan Standard Time (JST). The date shown by your game can therefore differ from the date used in a clue article: players west of Japan may still see the previous puzzle during their local evening, while players farther east may have moved to the next daily set. If the answers appear not to match, check the game’s own puzzle number and reset timing before assuming the clue list is wrong.

Classic mode versus other modes

This lookup is for the Classic daily puzzle only. Quordle can also present modes such as Chill and Extreme, but a mode-specific answer should not be substituted for the Classic set. Confirm the mode label on your game screen before using any dated answer list.

What to do if a word is rejected

  • Confirm that you entered exactly five letters; Quordle does not accept partial entries.
  • Check the board order. The clues above correspond to boards one through four, not to a shuffled answer list.
  • Verify the date and puzzle number, especially around the midnight-JST reset.
  • Remember that a valid guess can be useful even when it is not one of the four solutions; its colored feedback still advances the other boards.
