Queensland Country Bank calls Building & Contents Plus its highest level of home cover available when getting a quote. The bank lists protection for a range of events, including fire, theft, flood and storms, but these are headline features subject to policy limits, exclusions and conditions. The available information is not enough to judge whether the policy is good value or to confirm every detail of its current terms.
Who issues Queensland Country Bank home insurance?
Queensland Country Bank arranges the policy under an agreement with Insurance Australia Limited, which issues it under the CGU brand. The bank’s Financial Services Guide says the insurance contract is with the insurer, not the bank, and that the bank is not responsible for the contract’s performance. Queensland Country Bank also says its insurance information is general and does not take account of your objectives, financial situation or needs. Read the current product page alongside the applicable policy documents before deciding.

The bank links to a Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), a premium, excess and discount guide, and building and contents key fact sheets. Those CGU documents were not accessible for review, so detailed exclusions, excesses, optional benefits, item limits and the difference between Plus and Standard cannot be confirmed here.
What does Building & Contents Plus cover?
The bank describes the policy as combined Building and Contents insurance and identifies Plus as its highest cover level at quote time. Its product page highlights the following benefits, each subject to the policy wording:
#1 Best Overall
- Damage to the home: repair or rebuilding up to the insured amount after a covered event. The bank says, “CGU pays to repair or rebuild your home up to the insured amount if it’s damaged by a covered event.”
- Fire and bushfire: listed as covered events.
- Theft and vandalism: including stolen keys.
- Weather and water events: flood, rainwater run-off, storm, storm surge and tsunami damage are listed. The bank specifically says actions of the sea, such as tides and waves, are not covered.
- Temporary accommodation: may be available if a covered event leaves the home unliveable. The applicable arrangements depend on whether you are a tenant, owner-occupier or strata resident, and are subject to reasonable-cost terms and limits.
- Emergency repairs: 24/7 assistance for urgent repairs after a covered event.
- Visitors’ belongings: up to $2,500 after a covered event at the home, excluding money.
- Legal liability: up to $20 million in some situations. The bank says building liability applies at the home; contents liability away from home applies only within Australia.
These are the product page’s headline descriptions, not a complete coverage determination. A peril being named does not establish that every cause, item or circumstance is insured; the policy’s definitions, exclusions, limits and conditions decide a claim.
Does Queensland Country Bank home insurance cover floods?
The bank lists flood and rainwater run-off among covered events, as well as storm, storm surge and tsunami damage. But this does not mean every coastal or water-related loss is covered: the bank expressly excludes “actions of the sea, such as tides and waves.” Check the current policy definitions and exclusions for your property’s specific exposure, especially if it is near the coast or waterways.

Does it cover rebuilding if my home is underinsured?
The bank describes rebuilding cover as payment up to the insured amount, so the adequacy of that amount matters. CHOICE’s 2026 comparison describes Queensland Country Bank Home Buildings and Contents Plus as a sum-insured policy with a 25% building underinsurance safety net. That comparison finding has not been confirmed against the current CGU wording; verify whether the safety net applies, and how, in the PDS before relying on it.

Queensland Country Bank’s home-insurance guidance published 30 September 2025 recommends checking rebuild estimates and describes a formal property valuation every 1–3 years as a prudent guide—not a policy requirement or universal rule. It also recommends keeping a contents inventory and checking whether contents are covered for replacement value or value at the time of loss, as well as reviewing item limits and excesses.
Is Queensland Country Bank home insurance good value?
The available information supports a feature overview, not a value verdict. CHOICE says the cover is identical, though not necessarily the price, to policies sold by 17 other brands in its comparison. That is CHOICE’s description rather than a finding independently confirmed against the current CGU PDS. A meaningful price comparison needs quotes based on the same address, building and contents sums insured, excesses, options and cover needs.
For a like-for-like comparison, check the policy’s sum-insured basis and any underinsurance safety net; flood, rainwater, storm-surge and coastal-water definitions; contents valuation, specified-item limits and away-from-home scope; temporary accommodation and liability terms; exclusions, waiting periods and excesses; and the final premium for your location and selected settings.

How much does Queensland Country Bank home insurance cost?
No current premium or address-specific quote was verified, so a reliable price estimate cannot be given. The premium and available cover depend on the quote details and selected settings. Use the bank’s quote process for your property, then compare the resulting premium with alternatives using matching sums insured, excesses and cover features. Review the current premium, excess and discount guide before purchase.

The bank identifies Plus as its highest cover level available when getting a quote, but the available product information does not establish which benefits Plus adds over Standard. Do not assume the difference from the tier names alone. Compare the current PDS and guides for each option, paying particular attention to limits, exclusions, optional benefits, excesses and the insured amounts offered.
