The Qotom Q30952UE packs six 2.5GbE RJ45 ports and two 10GbE SFP+ ports into a compact chassis. That unusual mix is its main draw—but it is not an all-fanless or silent appliance, and its aging four-core processor is no guarantee of any particular firewall or routing speed. Here is what the reviewed hardware establishes, and what you should verify for your own network.
What the Qotom Q30952UE offers
ServeTheHome’s September 21, 2026 review identifies the Q30952UE as a mini-PC built around an Intel Core i5-8260U. Its headline feature is the port selection: six 2.5GbE RJ45 connections and two 10GbE SFP+ ports. The 10GbE ports are SFP+, not copper 10GBASE-T RJ45, so connecting them requires an appropriate SFP+ link at the other end. ServeTheHome’s review describes the tested unit and its configuration.

The review sample came with 8GB of DDR4-2400 memory in one SO-DIMM and a 128GB M.2 SSD connected over PCIe Gen3 x1. It had no operating system preinstalled; ServeTheHome tested it with Ubuntu 26.04 LTS. The chassis measures 196 × 122 × 47 mm and weighs 1.29 kg. Those are details of the reviewed sample, not necessarily a promise that every Q30952UE listing ships with the same memory, drive, or software.

Is the Qotom Q30952UE fanless?
Not in the everyday sense of a silent, fan-free box. The CPU is cooled passively, but ServeTheHome found an internal fan that circulates air around the memory and storage. In the review, that fan measured 39–41 dBA. Reviewer Patrick Kennedy wrote, “At the same time, the fan is just too loud in the 39-41dba range.” The measured noise makes this a meaningful consideration for a quiet office, living room, or noise-sensitive network closet. How old is the processor, and what does that mean?
The Intel Core i5-8260U is a four-core, eight-thread low-power processor launched in 2019. ServeTheHome characterizes it as aging and slower than many newer options. The review also notes that the system has 16 PCIe Gen3 lanes, giving it more capacity for system I/O than lower-lane-count alternatives. That is relevant to a machine with many network ports, but it does not turn CPU or I/O specifications into a packet-throughput result.
A CPU benchmark measures compute performance under its own test conditions. It does not establish how quickly this appliance will route traffic or handle a particular firewall, VPN, or IDS/IPS setup. Those results depend on the operating system and software, enabled features, configuration, and traffic patterns. The reviewed material does not report a workload-specific network benchmark, so it cannot substantiate a claim of line-rate 10Gb/s routing or firewalling.

Power use in the review
ServeTheHome measured 13–16W at idle and 45–55W at maximum in its test configuration. It attributed an additional 5–8W to the Intel X710 network card. The review used an external 12V, 7A power adapter. These are measurements of that review setup, not vendor guarantees or values that can be assumed for every configuration. ServeTheHome’s review provides the power figures.

Qotom’s product page describes specifications for its S13 family and lists the Q30952UE among those systems. It specifies one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket supporting up to 32GB, six 2.5G LAN ports, two 10G SFP+ ports, and several storage and expansion options. Treat those as manufacturer-listed family specifications; the sample-specific findings above come from ServeTheHome’s review. Qotom’s S13 product page lists the family configuration.

For the SFP+ ports, check that the cable or transceiver and the other endpoint are compatible before buying. The reviewed material does not validate any particular DAC cable, optical module, RJ45 transceiver, switch pairing, or maximum cable distance.

The Q30952UE may make sense when the priority is putting many network interfaces in a compact appliance, particularly if six 2.5GbE copper ports plus two 10GbE SFP+ links suit the intended layout. The tradeoffs are an older processor, a single memory slot with a 32GB manufacturer-listed ceiling, a PCIe Gen3 x1 M.2 storage link, and an internal fan that ServeTheHome found too loud for some quiet environments.

- Map the links: Confirm which devices need RJ45 and which can use SFP+. Do not count the two SFP+ ports as 10GBASE-T copper ports.
- Test the intended workload: Look for results for the specific software and configuration you plan to run, including VPN encryption or IDS/IPS if relevant. CPU specifications alone do not answer this.
- Decide whether the noise is acceptable: A passively cooled CPU does not eliminate the internal fan or the review’s measured 39–41 dBA.
- Confirm the shipped configuration: Memory, SSD, OS, stock, and price can vary by seller and listing; the review sample’s 8GB, 128GB SSD, and lack of a preinstalled OS should not be assumed for every offer.
- Check expansion needs: Consider the 32GB listed memory ceiling, x1 M.2 storage connection, and whether the 2.5-inch SATA provision or the listed Wi-Fi/cellular slots match your plans.
