Qodo Merge Is No Longer the Product Name: Where Qodo Code Review Runs

Qodo Merge is no longer the product name Qodo uses on its current site. Qodo maps the former name to its Git integration; its broader current platform is presented as code review and governance, with review available in IDEs and on Git pull or merge requests. “Qodo Review” is a useful shorthand for that capability, not a clearly established separate product or SKU.

What happened to Qodo Merge?

Qodo’s former-name page says it no longer uses “Qodo Merge” as a product name and labels that capability “Qodo Merge – Now Git.” The current homepage describes a broader Qodo code review and governance platform, organized around IDE and Git surfaces. In other words, don’t treat Qodo Merge and Qodo Review as two distinct products currently offered under separate names. Qodo’s former-name page and its current homepage explain the transition.

This article uses “Qodo Review” to mean Qodo’s current code-review capability. The official pages cited here do not establish Qodo Review as a standalone SKU.

Where Qodo code review runs

Surface What Qodo describes What to verify
IDE Local review workflows, including review while coding. Qodo lists VS Code, JetBrains IDEs and Visual Studio. Check Qodo’s current supported IDE and version information before setup; the homepage does not settle every version detail.
Git pull or merge requests Review agents and automated review on changes. Qodo names GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps as provider families. Confirm the exact provider, repository type and configuration in the Git integration documentation.
Chrome extension Qodo documentation describes a browser extension for GitHub Cloud in Chromium-based browsers. The documentation labels this a Qodo v1 experience. Private repositories also require Qodo Git integration, so don’t assume the extension is a universal or complete current workflow. See the browser-extension documentation.

These are different points in a development workflow: IDE review can happen locally while coding, while Git review applies to proposed changes in pull or merge requests. Qodo’s descriptions establish the available surfaces, not a comparative measure of their review quality.

Can Qodo run on-premises?

Qodo’s former-name transition page lists multi-tenant cloud, single-tenant cloud, on-premises and air-gapped deployment options. These are vendor-stated options, not a guarantee that every option works with every Git provider or hosting arrangement. Qodo directs teams to a deployment matrix because eligibility varies. Confirm the combination of Git provider, hosting type and deployment model with Qodo before choosing an architecture. The transition page links to the relevant deployment information.

What changed in the IDE plugin?

In an update dated April 23, 2026, Qodo said it was deprecating code-generation autocomplete and code-generation chat in its IDE plugin, while continuing to support review capabilities inside the IDE. The distinction matters: continued IDE review does not mean the older code-generation features remain available. Qodo’s April 23, 2026 update states: “While we are deprecating code generation capabilities, the Qodo IDE plugin still remains part of the platform and we will continue to support review capabilities inside the IDE.”

A separate Qodo 2.2 update dated March 12, 2026 described the PR Knowledge System beta as supported for GitHub, with GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps coming soon at that time. That is a dated status announcement, not confirmation of current availability across those providers. Check Qodo’s current documentation if cross-repository context is important to your evaluation. Qodo’s March 12, 2026 update records that status.

What to check before adopting Qodo

Start with the workflow and environment you actually need. Qodo’s public material describes product capabilities and deployment options; it does not independently validate review accuracy, security outcomes, data retention or third-party compatibility. Ask Qodo for current, provider-specific details where those affect a production decision.

  • Git provider and hosting: Confirm your exact Git service and whether it is cloud-hosted, self-hosted or otherwise configured.
  • Review location: Decide whether reviewers need feedback inside an IDE, on pull or merge requests, or both.
  • Repository context: If cross-repository knowledge matters, verify which providers and plans currently support the feature.
  • Data and deployment needs: Match your security requirements to an available cloud, on-premises or air-gapped arrangement for your provider.
  • Feature scope: Separate code review from code generation; Qodo’s April 2026 announcement treats them differently.
