QBANK’s product page highlights at-home accidental damage as included, while portable contents away from home and extra cover for valuable contents are optional. The page is a feature summary, not a substitute for a quote or the policy documents that set the actual terms.
What QBANK Home Contents Plus is
QBANK offers home insurance through CGU. QBANK’s disclosure says QPCU Limited, trading as QBANK, distributes the insurance under its own Australian financial services licence and an agreement with Insurance Australia Limited, the insurer issuing the product under the CGU brand. QBANK describes Contents Plus as its premium contents option. The renter is considering cover for belongings, not the rented building.

The product page lists a range of insured events and benefits, but headings alone do not establish exactly when a claim is covered or how much may be paid. The applicable policy wording and Certificate of Insurance determine those details. See QBANK’s Home Insurance information.
What the product page says Contents Plus includes
QBANK’s comparison table marks these events for both Contents Plus and Contents Standard: accidental breakage of glass, animal damage, deliberate or intentional acts, earthquake, escape of water or liquid, explosion, fire, flood or rainwater run-off, impact, lightning, riot or civil commotion, storm, storm surge or tsunami, theft or attempted theft, and liability. Both tiers also list removal of debris, replacement of keys and locks, funeral expenses and temporary accommodation. The definitions, limits and conditions for each benefit need to be checked in the policy wording.

Features that distinguish Plus
- Accidental damage at home is listed as included in Contents Plus; it is optional in Contents Standard.
- Electrical motor burnout is listed as included in Plus and optional in Standard.
- Plus also lists benefits including contents away from home, storage, open air, transit, food spoilage, identity theft, moving to a new home, owner fixtures in a strata scheme, storage costs, students living away from home and visitors’ belongings.
- Portable contents away from home and valuable contents inside the home are shown as optional benefits, rather than automatically included features.
These are product-page summaries, not guarantees of an unlimited payout. Check the current policy wording and your Certificate of Insurance for definitions, conditions and sub-limits.
What renters should know about temporary accommodation
QBANK’s page says that when a customer has Contents Insurance and rents the home as a tenant, CGU pays reasonable extra rent costs for temporary accommodation. The page also says additional limits, exclusions and conditions apply. It does not describe this as unlimited accommodation or a fixed cash payment, and it is not a substitute for cover on the landlord’s building.
Limits and exclusions to examine
The product page publishes several limits that matter to renters. They are useful prompts for checking suitability, but do not form a complete statement of cover.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Valuables: Works of art, collections, jewellery and watches have a combined $2,500 limit unless Valuable Contents cover is added.
- Portable items: The page describes cover for loss, theft and accidental damage up to $10,000 per item unless an item is separately listed for a higher amount. Other limits apply outside Australia or New Zealand.
- Visitors’ belongings: The stated limit is $2,500.
- Portable-item exclusions: The page identifies scratches and dents, items being cleaned or repaired, certain fishing and sporting equipment, drones, musical instruments and firearms while in use, and bicycles in competitive races or time trials as excluded or limited situations.
- Storage: General contents may be covered in storage only if CGU is told before the move and accepts the items. Valuable contents are described as not covered in storage.
- Excess: Excesses may apply. The page does not state a renter’s actual excess or premium; those depend on the quote and Certificate of Insurance.
The accessible product page does not establish every exclusion, household eligibility rule, or claim condition. Confirm whether housemates’ possessions, business equipment and specific high-value belongings qualify under the contract rather than assuming they do.
How to assess whether it fits your needs
Compare the quote and policy documents using the same household assumptions you would use for another contents policy. QBANK says its online contents calculation is a guide and that it pays actual repair or replacement cost rather than an inflated insured amount. Check the insurer’s settlement basis in the policy documents as well as the sum insured you select.
- Premium and excess: Ask for a quote and compare the annual cost, payment frequency, standard excess and any excesses tied to events or optional benefits.
- Accidental damage: Check which incidents and exclusions apply to the at-home cover included in Plus.
- Portable belongings: Confirm whether away-from-home cover is selected, how per-item limits work, which items must be listed, any geographic restrictions and the exclusions.
- Valuables and household members: Check category limits, listing requirements and who counts as an insured person in a shared household.
- Temporary accommodation: Confirm what displacement triggers the benefit, how reasonable extra rent is assessed, and whether time or dollar limits apply.
- Storage, moves and claims: Check notice requirements, which storage arrangements must be accepted, transit conditions, evidence needed to support a claim and the settlement basis.
Before deciding
QBANK says its website information is general advice and does not take individual objectives, financial situation or needs into account. Its page directs customers to consider personal circumstances and the relevant product disclosure statement (PDS), premium and excess information, and target market determination before deciding. The linked PDS, key fact sheet and target market determination were not accessible from the reviewed page, so their contract terms, current version, premiums and eligibility should not be inferred from the feature summary. Obtain the current documents and a quote before deciding whether the cover and price suit your circumstances.
