Navigate to the page, wait until the content you need is ready, inject inline CSS with await page.addStyleTag({content: css}), and then call page.screenshot(). Await the CSS injection before capturing so the style has been added to the page.
Inject CSS before capturing a page
This example saves a full-page PNG and closes the browser even if navigation, CSS injection, or capture fails. Replace the example URL and CSS selectors with the ones for your page.

}Page.addStyleTag() accepts inline CSS through its content option and returns a promise for the inserted style element. It can also add a stylesheet by URL. The Page method targets the main frame; if the element you need to style is inside a child frame, inject the CSS into that frame instead. See the Puppeteer Page.addStyleTag() API.
Choose a readiness condition for the site
The order matters: navigate, wait for the relevant content, inject CSS, then capture. Puppeteer’s screenshots guide demonstrates navigation with waitUntil: 'networkidle2' followed by a screenshot, but that is an example rather than a universal readiness rule. Some pages continue network activity indefinitely; others render important content only after client-side code or a user action.

Choose a navigation wait and any additional checks based on the page. For example, if a particular component must appear before you hide or restyle it, wait for that selector before injecting your CSS:

Adjust the screenshot scope and output
page.screenshot(options) captures the page. The documented options include fullPage, clip, captureBeyondViewport, path, type, and omitBackground. The documented defaults for Puppeteer version 25.12.0 are fullPage: false and PNG output. Check the documentation for your installed version if exact option behavior matters.
- Whole page: Set
fullPage: trueto capture beyond the current viewport. - Viewport or region: Leave
fullPageoff for a viewport capture, or useclipwhen you need a specific rectangle. - Output: Set
pathto save the file, and choose a supportedtypewhen you need a format other than the documented PNG default. - Transparent background: Use
omitBackgroundwhere a transparent output is appropriate.

Capture one element instead of the page
When the output should contain only one element, locate it and call ElementHandle.screenshot(). Puppeteer scrolls the element into view if needed before capture. The call throws if the element has been detached from the DOM, so locate it after the page has reached the state you want to capture.

Troubleshooting CSS injection and capture
- The style has no effect: Confirm the selector matches the rendered page and that the CSS is injected after the relevant content is ready. If the target is inside a child frame, use that frame rather than the Page method, which targets the main frame.
- The screenshot omits content: Revisit the navigation wait and add a site-specific selector or readiness check for the content that must be present. Do not assume one wait condition suits every site.
- Element capture throws: The element may have been detached from the DOM. Wait for the desired state and locate the element again before calling its screenshot method.
- The image is only viewport-sized: Set
fullPage: trueif you need the full page rather than the default viewport capture.
