Use Puppeteer’s page.screenshot() with a clip rectangle to save a chosen area of a rendered page. Set its x, y, width, and height to define the region. If you want to capture a particular DOM element rather than a rectangle at fixed coordinates, use that element’s screenshot() method instead.
Capture a rectangular area with clip
The coordinates and dimensions describe the selected rectangle. This example saves the clipped region to a PNG file:

await page.screenshot({
path: 'clip.png',
clip: { x: 40, y: 80, width: 640, height: 360 },
});
Run it after navigating to the page you want to capture. Check the rectangle against the page layout and viewport at capture time: if content shifts, loads late, or appears at a different viewport size, fixed coordinates may select a different area than intended. Puppeteer’s clip type uses the bounding-box shape, and its optional scale defaults to 1. See the ScreenshotClip API reference.

Use clip for an arbitrary rectangle
A clip is appropriate when the desired output is a specific rectangular region, such as a chart and its surrounding label, regardless of whether that area corresponds exactly to one DOM element.

- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
Use ElementHandle.screenshot() for a known element
If a selector identifies the exact element to capture, obtain its element handle and call screenshot() on it. Puppeteer documents that “By default, ElementHandle.screenshot() tries to scroll the element into view if it is hidden.” This is often simpler than finding and maintaining the element’s coordinates yourself. The official Screenshots guide covers page and element captures.
Save an image or use the returned data
Write the screenshot to disk
The path option writes the image to that file. When a path is provided, Puppeteer infers the image format from its extension. The example’s clip.png therefore requests PNG output.

Consume the result in code
path is optional. Without it, the screenshot is not written to disk; page.screenshot() returns a Uint8Array by default. Set encoding: 'base64' when you need a base64 string instead. Check the return value against the Page.screenshot() API reference, which displays Puppeteer version 25.12.0.

type |
Chooses the image type; PNG is the default. JPEG and WebP are also documented. | Choose a format that suits the next step in your workflow. |
quality |
Sets image quality from 0 to 100 for non-PNG formats. | Use it with JPEG or WebP, not as a PNG quality setting. |

When true, hides the default white background and permits transparency. |
Useful when the output needs a transparent background. |
captureBeyondViewport |
Its documented default is true when a clip is present and false when one is not. |
Relevant when the clipped rectangle extends outside the viewport. Browser and version configurations can affect behavior, so check the result in your setup. |

ScreenshotNeo takes screenshots through a GET request. The following cURL example captures the same kind of page as a WebP file; see the ScreenshotNeo documentation for API details and parameters:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Troubleshoot a clip that looks wrong
The saved region is offset or the wrong size
Review all four clip values and confirm that the page layout and viewport match the conditions under which you chose the coordinates. If the intended target is an element whose position can change, capture it with ElementHandle.screenshot() rather than maintaining fixed coordinates.

The output file is missing
Make sure you supplied path and that your script can write to the destination. Without a path, Puppeteer returns image data instead of saving a file.
The image format is unexpected
Check the file extension when relying on type inference, or set type explicitly. Remember that quality applies to non-PNG output.

The clip reaches beyond the viewport
Puppeteer documents captureBeyondViewport as defaulting to true when a clip is present. If the resulting capture differs from what you expect, verify the option and test the behavior with your Puppeteer and browser configuration; the documented default is not a guarantee of identical behavior in every setup.
You meant the whole page
Use fullPage: true for a full-page screenshot. A clip selects a rectangle; these options express different capture extents.
