Puppeteer’s DeviceRequestPrompt is the automation handle for a page’s request to choose a device, such as through Web Bluetooth. Obtain it with page.waitForDevicePrompt() before triggering the page action; then wait for a matching entry in prompt.devices and select it, or cancel the prompt.
What is a Puppeteer device request prompt?
Puppeteer describes device request prompts as a way to respond when a page requests a device through an API such as Web Bluetooth. The page method waitForDevicePrompt() returns a DeviceRequestPrompt handle that lets automation inspect available choices and respond.

The prompt’s devices collection contains the devices currently surfaced as selectable. Each device has an id and a name, the latter being the name displayed in the prompt. These are prompt choices—not a list of hardware Puppeteer is emulating.
How do you capture and select a device?
Start waiting for the prompt before, or concurrently with, the action that causes the page to request a device. Puppeteer’s API reference warns that waitForDevicePrompt() does not return a prompt that is already active. Waiting and clicking together avoids missing a prompt that opens immediately.

If the automation should dismiss the pending request rather than choose a device, call cancel() on the prompt:

await devicePrompt.cancel();The documented prompt methods are waitForDevice(filter, options?), select(device), and cancel(). Use selection when the page should proceed with a particular listed device; use cancellation when the request should be dismissed.
How is this different from device emulation?
A device request prompt handles a page asking to connect to or choose a device. It is not the same as emulating a browser device profile. Puppeteer separately provides KnownDevices for Page.emulate(); that feature changes the emulated device characteristics rather than selecting a device from a page’s request prompt.

Compatibility and practical limits
Puppeteer’s repository test-expectations file marks device-request-prompt tests as skipped for Firefox. That is a test-suite signal, not a complete browser-support matrix, so it does not by itself establish universal support or lack of support. Check current Puppeteer and browser documentation for the environment you intend to automate.
This is a software workflow; the API documentation does not require a particular Bluetooth device model or physical product. A device must appear in the prompt’s available choices to be selected through this flow.

Common implementation problems

The wait never resolves or the prompt is missed: ensure the wait begins before the page action. An already-active prompt is not returned by
waitForDevicePrompt(); coordinate the wait and trigger withPromise.all(). -
The filter does not find the expected device: inspect
prompt.devicesand match against the listed name or another property available on the device object. The prompt exposes currently selectable devices, not every nearby or known device. -
You are trying to configure viewport or device characteristics: use Puppeteer’s device emulation APIs such as
KnownDeviceswithPage.emulate(); those do not answer a device request prompt.The Tool Desk
