Individual businesses may receive financing of up to Rs 50 million, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). The launch was reported on 1 October 2026; the Punjab Mines & Minerals Department had listed the scheme in a 15 July 2026 highlight.
What is the Punjab pink salt loan scheme?
The scheme is officially listed by the Punjab Mines & Minerals Department as the CM Punjab Pink Salt Value Addition Financing Scheme. It is intended to help businesses move beyond selling raw pink salt by financing value-added activity, including processing and the development of branded products for international markets.

APP reported that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched the program on 1 October 2026 and distributed cheques to 10 businesspeople who had secured interest-free loans. That launch report does not explain how those recipients qualified or whether applications are now open to other businesses.
How much financing was announced?

What businesses and projects is it meant to support?
The stated focus is pink-salt value addition: processing the mineral and developing branded products for international markets. The launch report also refers to packaging, marketing and branding as part of the broader effort. It does not provide a formal list of eligible business types or approved expenses, so these aims should not be treated as a definitive application checklist.
Processing facilities and the planned zone
APP reported from an officials’ briefing that a specialised 110-acre Pink Salt Processing Unit has been established in Quaidabad. Separately, a Pink Salt Mineral Processing Zone is planned with capacity for 200 value-addition units. The zone is projected to create more than 10,000 jobs; it is a planned development, not evidence that those jobs or units already exist.

Export ambitions
Officials cited by APP said value addition, branding and pink-salt product development could increase annual exports by up to $300 million. This is a projected potential, not a measured export increase or independently verified forecast. Sharif was quoted by APP as saying, “Pink salt is Pakistan’s uniqueness,” and called for branded, value-added exports rather than supplying only raw material.

The published department highlight and APP launch coverage do not specify the practical rules needed to apply. Before making business plans around the financing, prospective applicants should obtain current terms directly from the Punjab Mines & Minerals Department.

Do not assume that eligibility or procedures from another Punjab loan program apply here. The fact that 10 businesspeople had secured loans by the launch does not answer these questions for future applicants.
