Satara police allege that Harshada Hanumant Jadhav, 19, was taken from Pune district on the pretext of going to dinner and killed. Her father and paternal uncle were arrested in connection with her death, according to a Hindustan Times report updated October 3, 2026. These are allegations reported by police; the report does not establish a court finding of guilt.
What police say happened
Harshada, a resident of Jambhulwadi in Ambegaon Khurd, Pune district, was found dead on September 14, 2026, at an isolated spot beside the Shirwal–Rajewadi road in Rajewadi, Khandala taluka, Satara district. Satara Superintendent of Police Nikhil Pingale told Hindustan Times that police initially registered an accidental death report at Shirwal police station because her identity was unknown and the circumstances were suspicious.

Police later alleged that Harshada’s father, Hanumant Damodar Jadhav, and her paternal uncle, Balu Ankush Jadhav, took her out by vehicle on the pretext of dinner, used chilli powder, and suffocated her. The account of the alleged killing is a police allegation reported by the newspaper, not a court-established finding.
