In Khalid Siyanbola’s account, he kept the existing interface but moved campaign and promoter-spotlight content into Sanity, where it could be edited without rebuilding the marketplace backend.
What Pulse Wall is—and what it leaves out
Pulse is described as a marketplace where businesses run social-promotion campaigns and promoters earn money by sharing them. Its full backend was under development with Go, MongoDB and Paystack. Pulse Wall took a narrower route: it reused the existing Next.js interface as a showcase rather than porting the transactional marketplace system.

That distinction matters when considering the architecture. The showcase needed editable campaign and promoter information, but it did not need to reproduce the backend behaviors of the marketplace. Siyanbola says he used two Sanity schemas—one for campaigns and one for promoter spotlights—and stored that content in Sanity rather than tying the pages to the marketplace backend. He describes the design goal this way: “Every campaign and promoter spotlight lives in Sanity and is editable in Studio, no redeploy needed for new content to go live.”
How Sanity fits into the Next.js app
The project embeds Sanity Studio in the Next.js application at /studio using next-sanity. Editors can use Studio to manage the structured content, while the site retrieves it with GROQ queries. Sanity describes GROQ as a query language for querying, filtering, joining and shaping Content Lake data, and documents both Studio embedding and Next.js integration patterns in its documentation.

The practical value is separation of responsibilities: the showcase keeps its existing presentation layer, while campaign and spotlight details live in a content system that can be edited independently. That is useful when the content changes more often than the interface. It does not, by itself, replace application logic such as payment processing, campaign eligibility or promoter earnings.
Where browser requests got stuck: CORS
Siyanbola reports that initial Studio calls failed because Sanity’s CORS configuration did not allow the local development origin or the deployed Render origin. CORS controls whether a browser permits a page from one origin to make requests to another; it is not a general network permission rule for server-side Node.js or command-line requests.

In Sanity’s CORS guidance, the relevant site origin must be allowed for browser requests. If Studio requests rely on a logged-in session, the origin entry must allow credentials. Public browser reads generally do not need credentials. Avoid combining credentials with a broad wildcard origin: Sanity warns that this can trust sites outside the project owner’s control.

Keep server-side requests separate from browser CORS troubleshooting.

Why content appeared stale—and the fix the author reports
The intended workflow was to update content in Studio and see the change on the site without a deployment. Siyanbola says updates initially appeared stale because the home page was statically rendered at build time. In his account, a route setting had been placed in an arbitrary component, where it was ignored; moving it into page.tsx addressed the issue:
export const dynamic = "force-dynamic";Treat that as the reported fix for this project, not a universal rule for every Next.js app. Whether it is appropriate depends on the Next.js version, route structure and caching strategy. Dynamic rendering can make a route render per request, but it is not the only way to keep Sanity content fresh. Sanity’s Next.js materials also describe live-content and cache-revalidation approaches; choose based on the freshness behavior the page actually needs.

What to assess before reusing this approach
Pulse Wall’s useful lesson is not simply “put a marketplace in a CMS.” It is to separate a content showcase from the larger product when the showcase does not need the product’s transactional behavior. Before adopting the pattern, decide:

- What can stay? Reusing an existing Next.js interface avoids rebuilding presentation that already serves the showcase.
- What can be omitted? A content-only prototype may not need payment, marketplace operations or other backend features—but those omissions define its limits.
- What must editors control? Campaigns and promoter spotlights were separate content types in this project, represented by their own schemas.
- How fresh must published content be? Select dynamic rendering, live updates or cache revalidation according to the desired update behavior and performance needs.
- Which origins need access? Configure browser origins deliberately, distinguishing public reads from authenticated Studio access.
Deployment and project-specific tooling
Siyanbola says the app was deployed to Render with a render.yaml blueprint. The submission also describes a GitHub Actions workflow that pinged the free-tier service every five minutes to keep it awake for judges. That is a project-specific demo detail, not evidence of current Render plan guarantees or a production hosting recommendation.

The author also says Claude Code helped adapt the existing repository. The account provides no comparative evaluation of coding assistants or hosting providers, so those details are best understood as choices made for this build rather than proof that one tool or service is generally superior.
