Pakistan’s IT industry association P@SHA has announced Dr. Shoab Ahmed Khan as its chairman for the 2026–28 term. Business Recorder reported that he was elected unanimously. P@SHA held its Central Executive Committee elections on September 17, 2026, and swore in the newly elected committee at its September 30 annual general meeting.
Who is P@SHA’s new chairman?
Dr. Shoab Ahmed Khan is the announced chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) for 2026–28. The association’s leadership update names him as chairman; Business Recorder independently reported that his election was unanimous. P@SHA’s leadership announcement and Business Recorder’s October 1, 2026 report identify the transition.
The KP IT Board’s Durshal profile describes Khan as chief executive of the Center for Advanced Research in Engineering and a professor at NUST’s College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. The profile does not state when it was published, so its biographical details should not be read as a current tally.
When and where were the elections held?
P@SHA says its Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections took place on September 17, 2026, in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. Its election update names Dr. Aftab Maroof, Talib Karim, and Dr. Kashif Zafar as election commissioners for the North, South, and Center, respectively. P@SHA’s election update gives the date, cities, and commissioners.

At the September 30, 2026 annual general meeting, the newly elected CEC took its oath. P@SHA’s meeting and leadership updates place the voting and oath-taking on separate dates; the AGM was not the election day.
Who else is in the 2026–28 leadership team?
Business Recorder identifies Wahab Yunus as senior vice chairman and Samad Saleem as vice chairman for the same term. P@SHA’s committee announcement lists the incoming CEC membership. The available announcements establish these leadership appointments, but do not specify additional roles or responsibilities for the officers beyond their titles.

What priorities has Khan set out?
In remarks carried by Energy Update on September 30, 2026, Khan said he was “deeply honored by the trust placed in me by the entire P@SHA membership” and called the moment pivotal for Pakistan’s IT sector. Energy Update attributes the remarks to his acceptance statement; the available material does not establish a direct transcript hosted by P@SHA.
His stated agenda focuses on working with government on technology policy, developing skills aligned with global demand, and positioning Pakistan as a destination for IT innovation and investment. He also called for an environment in which local startups can thrive and established firms can expand internationally. These are priorities he has expressed, not evidence that policies or economic outcomes have already changed.

What the election does—and does not—establish
The announcement confirms a leadership transition and provides an outline of the new chairman’s stated agenda. It does not show what specific policy proposals P@SHA will pursue, how government will respond, or what measurable effects the term will have on investment, employment, exports, or the wider IT sector. The election itself should not be treated as proof of those outcomes.
