Reports attribute estimates of 40 TFLOPS for the PS6 and 56 TFLOPS for Microsoft’s next Xbox, Project Helix, to hardware leaker KeplerL2. Those numbers are unconfirmed: Sony and Microsoft have not announced them as console specifications. Microsoft has discussed Helix’s broad direction, but not its TFLOPS or a retail release date.
What are the reported PS6 and Xbox Helix specs?
TechRadar reported on 24 September 2026 that KeplerL2 claims the chips have “taped out” and estimates graphics performance at about 40 TFLOPS for PS6 and 56 TFLOPS for Xbox Helix. TechRadar’s report relays the claims via VideoCardz; neither figure is a specification confirmed by Sony or Microsoft. Read TechRadar’s report.

| Console | Reported estimate | Attribution and status |
|---|---|---|
| PS6 | About 40 TFLOPS | Hardware leaker KeplerL2, as reported by TechRadar on 24 September 2026; unconfirmed. |
| Xbox Helix | About 56 TFLOPS | Hardware leaker KeplerL2, as reported by TechRadar on 24 September 2026; unconfirmed. |
The report also says the chips have “taped out,” a term for a chip design reaching a manufacturing handoff stage. That claim, too, comes from the leaker report; it is not an official Sony or Microsoft announcement.

Does the Helix estimate mean Xbox will be more powerful than PS6?
The attributed estimates differ by 16 TFLOPS; 56 is 40% higher than 40. That arithmetic compares the rumored figures only. It is not a measured performance gap and cannot establish which console will run games faster or produce better graphics.
#1 Best Overall
- FASTEST, MOST POWERFUL XBOX — Experience next-generation performance with 12 teraflops of processing power, delivering smoother gameplay, richer worlds, and faster responsiveness than any previous XBOX.
- TRUE 4K GAMING UP TO 120 FPS — Enjoy breathtaking visuals with true 4K resolution, HDR, and frame rates up to 120 FPS, plus hardware-accelerated ray tracing for a heightened level of realism.
- 1TB CUSTOM SSD AND XBOX VELOCITY ARCHITECTURE — Reduce load times dramatically with the custom 1TB NVMe SSD and XBOX Velocity Architecture, enabling lightning-fast performance and seamless world streaming.
- QUICK RESUME — Seamlessly switch between multiple games and resume exactly where you left off. No more waiting through title screens and loading bars.
- FOUR GENERATIONS OF GAMES — Play thousands of games from XBOX Series X|S, XBOX One, XBOX 360, and Original XBOX, with many titles enhanced for better visuals and performance on XBOX Series X.
TFLOPS measures a theoretical rate of floating-point operations, but it is only one indicator of graphics capability. As TechRadar notes, architecture and memory bandwidth also matter, and a higher TFLOPS figure does not automatically translate into better-looking games. Until hardware details and comparable game results exist, “40% more powerful” is not a reliable overall comparison.
What has Microsoft publicly said about Project Helix?
Microsoft’s reported public description gives Helix a broader outline than the leaked figures. Engadget says the next-generation Xbox is intended to play both Xbox console games and PC games, and to use a custom AMD system-on-chip capable of ray and path tracing. Its account of Microsoft’s GDC 2026 presentation does not give a TFLOPS figure. Read Engadget’s coverage.

Engadget reported Xbox vice-president of next generation Jason Ronald saying, “We’re sending alpha versions of Project Helix to developers starting in 2027.” That is a reported timeline for developer alpha hardware—not a date for consumers to buy the console.
Windows Central also reported that Microsoft presented Helix as a next-generation Xbox with a custom AMD chip and PC-game compatibility at GDC in March 2026. It described additional technologies, including DirectX features and AMD FSR Diamond, but those presentation details do not establish the final retail configuration or implementation. Have Sony or Microsoft confirmed the leaked numbers?
No. The 40 and 56 TFLOPS figures are attributed to KeplerL2 through TechRadar’s reporting, not to either console maker. Microsoft has publicly discussed Helix’s intended capabilities, but the reported presentation supplied no TFLOPS figure. No official PS6 specifications were located in the sources reviewed for this article.
