Where to check for PS5 Pro stock
Start with Sony’s U.S. PS5 buying page, which links to PlayStation Direct when available, and check local retailers Sony identifies as another buying route. Recheck Amazon and other established retailers as well, but verify who is actually selling and fulfilling a marketplace listing.

What counts as overpaying?
Sony’s U.S. recommended retail price for PS5 Pro is $899.99, effective April 2, 2026. Sony announced the increase on March 27, citing continued pressures in the global economic landscape. The $699.99 U.S. price Sony announced at launch in September 2024 is historical, not the current recommended price. Check Sony’s price announcement for the current figure.
Compare the final checkout amount with that recommended price, while accounting for the listing’s condition and any delivery charges. A higher price is not automatically the same product offer: confirm whether the console is new, open-box, refurbished, or pre-owned, and whether the seller is Sony, the retailer itself, or a marketplace third party.
- Read the seller and fulfillment details, not just the retailer name at the top of the page.
- Check the product condition and whether the listing clearly identifies what is included.
- Compare shipping, taxes shown at checkout, delivery timing, and return terms.
- Do not treat a high-priced third-party or open-box listing as Sony’s recommended-price offer.
The cited stock report does not establish a future restock schedule, a market-wide stock rate, or a stock-alert service. No retailer’s availability should be assumed from a past report.

The U.S. PlayStation Store listing for Grand Theft Auto VI names PS5 as a platform, displays a PS5 Pro Enhanced label, and lists November 19, 2026 as the release date. The label indicates a Pro enhancement, but the official pages cited here do not specify GTA VI’s Pro resolution, frame rate, graphics modes, or measured advantage over a standard PS5. It is not possible to use the label alone to predict a particular performance gain.
Sony’s June 24, 2026 article says the game will use PS5 features including DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, Tempest 3D AudioTech, and the console SSD. Sony’s marketing statement that the game will “play best on PS5” is not a quantified comparison between PS5 and PS5 Pro. The Sony announcement describes a deeply engaging single-player experience, but does not provide independent performance measurements.
Rank #2
- From Jan. 2028, newly released games on PlayStation will be available for purchase on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital format only. Discs for games released before Jan. 2028 can continue to be played on this device.
- This product is only for PS5 Digital Edition consoles (CFI-2000 model group – slim) or PS5 Pro Consoles
- Drive will play 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, Blu-ray discs and DVDs
- Internet connection is required to pair Disc Drive and PS5 Digital Edition Console upon setup.
If your goal is simply to play GTA VI, the listing establishes PS5 support; it does not establish that a Pro is necessary. Choose the Pro if its broader hardware and the prospect of game-specific enhancements justify its cost to you, rather than paying a markup on the assumption of an unreported GTA VI frame-rate or resolution benefit.
At the time of the cited Store listing, the Standard Edition was shown at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Store prices and preorder details can change; check the listing for current information.
What to know about the console and disc drive
Sony describes PS5 Pro as a 2TB console. It is sold without an optical disc drive and includes a DualSense controller; an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 is sold separately. Sony says the drive is compatible with PS5 Pro and requires an internet connection for pairing during setup. See Sony’s current U.S. product and buying page and its PS5 Pro launch announcement.
The drive may matter if you want to play disc games or watch Blu-ray or DVD media. The available sources do not establish whether a physical edition of GTA VI will be available, so do not buy the drive specifically on the assumption that the game requires or will use a disc.
