A recent PlayStation Direct batch of 2TB PS5 Pro consoles priced at $899 reportedly sold out within minutes, while resale listings reached $1,500. That figure is an asking-price level—not a documented completed eBay sale. The available sale records are lower, and they cover individual consoles in different conditions.
What happened to the $899 PS5 Pro stock?
GameGPU reported on October 6, 2026, that a PlayStation Direct batch of 2TB PS5 Pro consoles priced at $899 sold out within minutes. On the same date, Game Developer reported that PlayStation Direct was unavailable. A third-party stock tracker recorded brief in-stock and out-of-stock changes at $899 on October 5 and 6.

Those reports describe a short-lived availability window, not the size of the batch or a confirmed nationwide sellout. The tracker is not Sony’s inventory feed, and a PlayStation Direct outage or unavailable listing does not establish that every U.S. retailer is out of stock. Availability can change quickly; check the seller’s current listing before making a buying decision.

The October 6 report supports saying resale offers reached $1,500, not that an eBay buyer completed a $1,500 purchase. The completed-sale records surfaced for this period were:
#1 Best Overall
- Model Number CFI-2000
- Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)
- Vertical Stand sold seperately
| Completed listing | Reported sale price | Condition and date |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 Pro with disc drive | $1,195 | Used; October 3, 2026 |
| PS5 Pro | $1,249.99 | New, factory sealed; September 18, 2026 |
These are two individual transactions, not a representative market average, and neither verifies a completed $1,500 sale. Separately, Game Developer reported that GameStop had updated its used prices to $1,399.99 for digital models and $1,499.99 for versions with a disc add-on. Those are retailer prices for used consoles, not eBay completed-sale evidence.
How does the resale pricing compare with retail?
The retrieved GameStop listing showed $899.99 for a new PS5 Pro. GamesRadar’s October 2026 price table also reported an adjusted U.S. price of $899.99 from April 2, 2026, up from $749.99 before that adjustment. These are useful comparison points, but they do not guarantee that a console is currently available at that price.
A $1,500 marketplace offer is substantially above that listed new-console price. Before paying a premium, compare the checkout total—including shipping and taxes—with current retailer offers, and distinguish a seller’s asking price from a completed transaction.

What to check before buying a PS5 Pro resale listing
- Seller and availability: Confirm that the seller has the console in stock and review the marketplace’s buyer protections and return terms.
- Condition: Check whether the unit is new, factory sealed, or pre-owned, and read the listing for signs of opened packaging or wear.
- Disc drive: The PS5 Pro is all-digital by default. Sony sells its compatible removable disc drive separately, so verify whether a listing includes one rather than assuming it does.
- Total price: Compare the final checkout amount, including shipping and taxes, with the current price from retailers.
What the PS5 Pro includes—and what its enhancements mean
Sony describes the PS5 Pro as a 2TB console with advanced ray tracing, improved image clarity on 4K TVs, and higher frame rates in PS5 Pro enhanced games. Sony says those enhanced features apply only to select games and vary by game. The console’s capacity and feature claims do not mean every PS5 title receives the same visual or performance improvements.
Sony’s U.S. product information describes the PS5 Pro as all-digital and confirms that its removable disc drive is sold separately and compatible with the console. For the current product details, see PlayStation’s official PS5 Pro page.
