PS5 Pro Enhanced Games: What the Label Means and How to Find Them

“PS5 Pro Enhanced” is a compatibility label, not a universal performance promise. It identifies a PS5 game with developer-provided enhancements for PlayStation 5 Pro. Depending on the title, those enhancements may include sharper image reconstruction with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), more advanced ray tracing, or a higher and more consistent frame rate. Sony says the features and results vary by game, so the badge alone does not guarantee native 4K, 60 frames per second, 120 frames per second, or every enhancement at once.

This guide explains what the badge covers, how to locate the current catalog in your region, how to check a particular game, how display and game settings affect what you see, and how the label differs from PS5 Pro’s separate image-quality setting for some PS4 games.

What “PS5 Pro Enhanced” means

The designation applies to a PS5 version of a game that has been optimized to use PS5 Pro hardware. The optimization is implemented by the game developer; it is not one standardized Sony performance mode. Two games carrying the same badge can therefore make different choices about resolution, frame rate, lighting, reflections, shadows, or other settings.

Sony’s product information lists advanced ray tracing, AI-assisted 4K image reconstruction through PSSR, and higher or more consistent frame rates as possible benefits. Its official wording is that “PS5 Pro enhanced features will vary by game.” Read the full description on Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro product page.

The three layers behind the label

  1. Store designation: the PS5 Pro Enhanced badge tells you that a PS5 game has been identified as having Pro-specific enhancements.
  2. Title implementation: the developer decides which enhancements the game receives and whether they are automatic or selectable in an in-game menu.
  3. Console-wide PS4 option: PS5 Pro also has a separate setting that can improve image quality in certain PS4 games. That setting does not turn a PS4 game into a PS5 Pro Enhanced title.

Thinking in these three layers prevents a common mistake: treating a marketing badge as if it were a detailed technical specification. The badge is useful for finding candidates. The game’s own notes and menus explain what the developer actually changed.

What enhancements can include

The label describes eligibility for improvements, not a fixed specification. These are the main technologies and outcomes Sony associates with compatible games.

PSSR image reconstruction

PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, or PSSR, is Sony’s AI-assisted image-reconstruction technology. A compatible game can render internally at a lower workload and reconstruct a sharper-looking output. The practical result may be cleaner fine detail, more stable edges, or improved clarity while maintaining a demanding frame-rate target. The exact implementation is title-specific, and PSSR is not evidence that a game renders every frame natively at 4K.

When a listing mentions PSSR, read it as information about the reconstruction technique, not as a guarantee about the internal resolution used in every scene. A developer may use different settings for different graphics modes, and the visual result can change with motion, effects, and the selected preset.

Advanced ray tracing

Ray tracing calculates lighting, reflections, shadows, or other effects in a way that can look more physically accurate than conventional techniques. PS5 Pro provides additional graphics headroom for some games to use more demanding ray-traced effects or to apply them at a higher quality. A badge does not mean that every ray-tracing feature is enabled everywhere, nor that ray tracing is the title’s default mode.

Look for the developer’s description of which effects are affected. “Ray tracing” can refer to one part of a game’s rendering, while another mode may prioritize a faster frame rate or a different image-quality balance.

Higher or steadier frame rates

Developers can use Pro performance headroom to raise a frame-rate target, reduce dips, or offer a mode that combines effects and fluidity that were previously separated. Sony says compatible games can run at 60 fps, or up to 120 fps, with ray tracing and AI-enhanced 4K resolution on a 4K TV. That sentence describes what compatible titles can deliver, not a requirement for every labeled game.

A target is not the same as a guarantee that every scene remains at that number. Frame-rate behavior can depend on the game mode, the scene being rendered, and the display output you use. If a game offers separate quality and performance choices, changing the choice can change both the frame-rate target and the visual effects.

Resolution and visual-quality modes

A game may provide a quality mode, a performance mode, or a Pro-specific mode that changes the balance among image detail, effects, and frame rate. Some games apply the best available settings automatically; others expose choices in their graphics menu. Check the individual game’s notes and menus rather than assuming that the Store badge selects a particular mode.

Mode names are not standardized across developers. One title may call its option “Pro,” while another may fold the enhancement into existing quality and performance presets. The absence of a button labeled “PS5 Pro” does not by itself prove that support is missing; it may be enabled automatically.

What the badge does not guarantee

What you see What you can safely conclude What you should not assume
PS5 Pro Enhanced badge The PS5 game has developer-provided enhancements for PS5 Pro. That every feature is enabled in every mode or scene.
PSSR mentioned The title uses Sony’s PSSR technology in its Pro implementation. Native 4K rendering at all times.
Ray tracing mentioned Some ray-traced effects are available on the Pro version. Maximum ray tracing in every preset or a fixed frame rate.
60-fps or 120-fps claim The compatible title may target that output under its supported conditions. That all labeled games reach the same frame rate, resolution, or image quality.

Display capability, the game’s selected mode, and the scene being rendered all affect the result. Sony explicitly says that PS5 Pro enhanced features and results vary by game. A 4K display is part of Sony’s description of the combination that can deliver AI-enhanced 4K and up to 120 fps; the badge itself is not a statement that your existing screen supports those outputs.

How to find PS5 Pro Enhanced games on your console

The most reliable method is the live PlayStation Store collection for your account’s region.

  1. Open PlayStation Store on your PS5.
  2. Choose Collections.
  3. Select the PS5 Pro Enhanced banner.
  4. Open a game’s product page and read its edition, platform, and feature information before buying or downloading.

Sony also supports a direct search: enter PS5 Pro in the PlayStation Store search field. The exact labels and placement can change as the Store interface is updated, but the Collections route and search term are Sony’s documented discovery options. See Sony’s PlayStation Support instructions.

If the banner is not immediately visible, use the search route rather than assuming that the console lacks the collection. Store navigation can vary by account region and interface version, while the underlying catalog can continue to change.

Use the web catalog when you want to browse

The US Store maintains a dedicated PS5 Pro Enhanced Games collection. Open the Store while signed into the region in which you intend to purchase. Availability, editions, and the number of listed games can differ by country, and the collection is updated over time.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A web result from one country should not be treated as a universal index. A game can have a different release status, product page, bundle, or edition in another market. The console’s own Store is the best first check for the account you will use.

How to verify an individual game

Finding a title in a collection is only the first check. Use this process when you are deciding whether a specific game delivers the experience you want.

1. Confirm the platform and edition

Make sure the product page is for the PS5 version. A listing can include PS4 and PS5 editions, a cross-generation bundle, downloadable content, or a disc edition sold separately. The Pro enhancements apply to the supported PS5 game version, not automatically to every older edition shown on the page.

Check the platform line, edition name, and included content before purchasing. If you already own a cross-generation product, open the PS5 version that is installed or available to your account and verify that it is the version carrying the designation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Look for title-specific feature notes

Read the game description, update notes, or the developer’s graphics-mode explanation for details such as PSSR, ray-tracing changes, and available frame-rate modes. The Store badge is a category marker; the game’s own documentation is where implementation details belong.

Useful details include whether a feature is automatic, whether it is tied to a particular mode, and whether the developer describes a target frame rate or an image-quality change. Do not infer a complete specification from a single promotional phrase.

3. Check whether a mode is selectable

After launching the game, inspect its display, graphics, or performance settings. A Pro option may be automatic, or it may appear alongside quality and performance presets. If the game offers a choice, the selected mode determines which trade-off you see.

Apply the setting, return to gameplay, and compare the result in the kind of scenes you care about. A mode that favors image detail may not use the same frame-rate target as one that favors responsiveness. If you cannot find a Pro-specific toggle, check the game’s update notes before concluding that the enhancement is absent.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Verify your regional listing

PlayStation Store catalogs are regional. A title visible in the US collection may have a different edition, release status, or product page in another country. Use your own console’s Store or the matching regional website before relying on a list found elsewhere.

Regional verification also matters for language, included versions, and whether a physical release is represented by the same product page as the digital edition. The badge is a discovery aid, not a substitute for checking the listing from which you will actually buy.

5. Check physical copies separately

If you are buying a disc, confirm that the specific edition is the PS5 release and that the game’s current update supports the Pro features. A retailer description can lag behind the live Store listing, so compare the disc edition with the official product page.

Keep the edition information and update status in mind when troubleshooting. Seeing the title’s name on a retailer page does not establish that the particular PS4 disc, cross-generation package, or older listing is the supported PS5 version.

Why “4K and 60/120 fps” is not a universal promise

Resolution and frame rate are competing workloads. A developer may use Pro hardware to improve image reconstruction while holding a 60-fps target, add ray-traced effects while keeping a lower internal render resolution, or offer separate modes for visual quality and responsiveness. Another title may make a different choice.

Sony’s 4K-and-up-to-120-fps description is therefore a capability statement for compatible games and a suitable 4K display, not a specification attached to the badge itself. Treat claims such as “4K,” “60 fps,” or “120 fps” as mode- and title-specific until the game’s documentation states how they are achieved.

There is also a difference between output resolution and internal rendering resolution. PSSR can reconstruct a sharper output from a different internal workload, so a reference to AI-enhanced 4K should not be rewritten as a promise of native 4K in every frame. Likewise, “up to 120 fps” describes a ceiling available in compatible circumstances, not a universal behavior across the catalog.

Do not confuse the badge with the PS4 image-quality setting

PS5 Pro includes a separate system feature called Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games. It can improve image quality for supported PS4 games, but it is unrelated to the PlayStation Store’s PS5 Pro Enhanced designation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where to find the PS4 setting

  1. Open Settings on the PS5 Pro.
  2. Choose Screen and Video.
  3. Open Video Output.
  4. Select the image-quality enhancement setting for supported PS4 games.

Sony says this option is available only for PS4 games played on consoles in the CFI-7000 model group. It also requires a screen that supports 2160p or 1440p output at 60 Hz. If you notice unexpected behavior, Sony advises turning the setting off. The complete requirements and warning are in the official support article.

This setting is a console-level image-quality feature for eligible PS4 software. It does not add the Store badge, does not confirm PSSR or ray tracing, and should not be used as evidence that a PS4 game has received a developer-authored PS5 Pro patch.

Examples you may see in the catalog

The PlayStation Store catalog listed titles including Fortnite, NBA 2K25, Call of Duty, Forza Horizon 5, and Lies of P in a snapshot observed roughly 1.3 years ago, so it is not a current or complete list. Games can be added, removed, renamed, or presented differently by region. Use the live collection on your console or the regional Store page to confirm a title before treating it as currently enhanced.

These names also illustrate why a static “best games” list can become misleading. The important questions are whether the title is listed for your region today, which PS5 edition you are viewing, and what the developer says the Pro implementation does. A catalog appearance alone does not provide a per-game resolution or frame-rate table.

Troubleshooting when a game does not look enhanced

The badge is missing

  • Search the Store for PS5 Pro rather than relying on a general game search.
  • Check that your Store region matches the region in which the title is sold.
  • Open the PS5 product page instead of a PS4-only listing or a bundle component.
  • Recheck the live collection, because the catalog changes.

If a title was listed elsewhere but not in your account’s collection, do not assume that the console is malfunctioning. Regional catalogs and edition pages can differ. Confirm the exact product page and platform first.

The game runs, but you cannot find a Pro mode

  • Install the latest available game update and restart the title.
  • Inspect the game’s graphics or display menu; some enhancements are automatic and do not appear as a separate toggle.
  • Read the developer’s current update notes for the exact implementation.
  • Check that you launched the PS5 version rather than a PS4 version included in the same package.

A missing menu item is not conclusive on its own. Some developers integrate Pro changes into existing quality or performance presets. Conversely, the badge does not mean every enhancement can be switched independently.

The image looks wrong after enabling a setting

If the issue occurs in a PS4 game after enabling Enhance Image Quality, turn that setting off as Sony recommends. Confirm that your display meets the 2160p-or-1440p-at-60-Hz requirement and that you are using a PS5 Pro in the CFI-7000 model group.

Keep this troubleshooting path separate from a PS5 game’s Pro graphics options. The system setting and the Store designation have different requirements, so changing one will not repair a missing or unexpected PS5 Pro mode in the other.

A practical way to read the label

  1. Use the badge to discover candidates. It tells you the developer has added Pro support.
  2. Use the game page to learn the implementation. Look for named technologies and graphics modes.
  3. Use the in-game menu to select the trade-off. Decide whether you prefer image quality, effects, or frame-rate consistency when options are available.
  4. Use your regional Store to confirm availability. Catalogs and editions are not universal.
  5. Keep PS4 enhancement separate. The system setting has different hardware and display requirements and does not change a game’s Store designation.

Before you buy or download: a quick checklist

  • Is the listing clearly the PS5 version?
  • Does your account’s regional Store show the PS5 Pro Enhanced designation?
  • Does the developer explain whether PSSR, ray tracing, or a frame-rate change is included?
  • Is the enhancement automatic, or must you choose a graphics mode?
  • Are you checking a current product page rather than an old list or retailer description?
  • If you are using a disc, does the physical edition match the supported PS5 release?
  • If you are evaluating the PS4 image-quality option instead, does your console belong to the CFI-7000 model group and does your display support 2160p or 1440p at 60 Hz?

This checklist keeps the Store label, the developer’s implementation, and the separate PS4 system option from being mixed together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does PS5 Pro Enhanced guarantee 4K?

No. The badge identifies a game with Pro enhancements, but it does not guarantee native 4K in every scene or mode. PSSR may reconstruct a sharper output, and the developer’s documentation determines how resolution is handled.

Does every PS5 Pro Enhanced game run at 60 or 120 fps?

No. Sony describes 60 fps and up to 120 fps as possible results for compatible games with suitable conditions. Frame-rate targets and modes vary by title.

What does PSSR mean on a game listing?

PSSR is PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, Sony’s AI-assisted image-reconstruction technology. Its use does not by itself specify a game’s internal resolution or guarantee native 4K.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How do I find the official list of enhanced games?

On PS5, open PlayStation Store, choose Collections, and select the PS5 Pro Enhanced banner. You can also search the Store for “PS5 Pro.” The live catalog is regional and changes over time.

Are PS5 Pro Enhanced games different from PS4 games with enhanced image quality?

Yes. The Store badge applies to PS5 games with developer-provided Pro enhancements. Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games is a separate PS5 Pro system setting with its own model-group and display requirements.

Why can’t I find a Pro toggle in a game that has the badge?

Some enhancements are automatic or are folded into existing quality and performance presets. Install the latest game update, inspect the graphics menu, and read the developer’s current notes.

Can I trust a list of enhanced games from another website?

Use outside lists as leads only. Confirm the title, edition, and availability in your own regional PlayStation Store because the catalog is dynamic and regional.

What are the requirements for Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games?

Sony says it is available only for PS4 games played on PS5 Pro consoles in the CFI-7000 model group, with a display supporting 2160p or 1440p output at 60 Hz. Sony advises turning it off if unexpected behavior occurs.

The Bottom Line

PS5 Pro Enhanced means a PS5 game includes title-specific improvements for PS5 Pro. It may use PSSR, stronger ray tracing, or a higher and steadier frame rate, but the badge does not promise a universal 4K, 60-fps, or 120-fps result. Find games through PlayStation Store > Collections > PS5 Pro Enhanced or by searching “PS5 Pro,” then verify the individual game’s edition, region, modes, and current feature notes. Keep the separate PS4 image-quality setting—and its CFI-7000 and 2160p-or-1440p-at-60-Hz requirements—out of the badge discussion.
