There are no verified “best settings” for Prospera yet. Active Fungus Studios’ Victorian-era city builder is still listed as unavailable on Steam, with a planned Q2 2027 release. The current store page provides only broad targets—1080p at 30 frames per second on Low and 1080p at 60 fps on High—not a settings menu, benchmark run, or tested combination that trades image quality for performance.
That means any article claiming that a particular shadow, foliage, crowd, resolution-scaling, or frame-cap value is the best Prospera configuration would be guessing. You can use the published requirements to check whether your PC is in the right range now, then apply a measurement-based tuning process after the game has a playable build and its actual graphics options are documented.

Prospera is described as a first- and third-person city builder set in the Victorian era, combining survival, crafting, strategy, and management. Citizens have needs, supplies affect satisfaction and growth, and production chains, logistics, and railways are part of the simulation. Those systems may produce different workloads in different scenes, but no source currently identifies a specific performance bottleneck or quantifies the effect of city size, population, trains, or any individual visual setting.

The GPU names above reproduce the wording on the page. “GTX 2060” and “GTX 4060 Ti” are unusual labels, so verify them against a later developer specification before buying or upgrading hardware. Do not silently reinterpret those entries as different models.
Why a precise Prospera settings guide is not possible yet
The graphics menu has not been documented
The available listing does not identify options such as texture quality, shadow quality, level of detail, foliage density, ambient occlusion, volumetric effects, anti-aliasing, resolution scaling, upscaling, or frame generation. Without knowing which controls exist, their default values, or their implementation, assigning a value to any slider would be speculation.
The targets are not a controlled comparison
“1080p, Low, 30 FPS” and “1080p, High, 60 FPS” describe two intended experience levels. They do not show that High is exactly twice as demanding as Low, that every recommended-system PC will hold 60 fps, or that a minimum-system PC will remain at 30 fps in every location. A city builder can have a quiet wilderness view, a dense settlement, a busy production network, and a camera close to many citizens; the listing supplies no measurements for those situations.

Can your PC run Prospera at 1080p?
Use the following check as a compatibility screen, not a promise of performance.
- Check Windows. The minimum entry names Windows 10 64-bit; the recommended entry names Windows 11 64-bit. A 32-bit installation does not match either listed target.
- Check the processor. Compare your CPU with the listed Core i7-8700 minimum and Core i7-12700 recommended entries. Model generation, power limits, cooling, and laptop configuration can change real performance, so an apparent match is not a guarantee.
- Check memory. Both rows specify 16 GB of RAM. This is a capacity target, not a promise that background applications will leave enough free memory for a large simulation.
- Check the graphics card carefully. The page currently prints “NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060” for minimum and “NVIDIA GeForce GTX 4060 Ti” for recommended. Because those names may require clarification, use the live listing or a developer update before treating them as an exact purchasing specification.
- Check DirectX 12 support. Both configurations list DirectX 12. Confirm that your operating system and graphics driver expose the required API.
- Check storage. Reserve at least the listed 25 GB of available space. The figure is a capacity requirement; it does not establish whether a solid-state drive is required or how loading times will differ by drive type.
If your system is close to the minimum row, the only published expectation is 1080p on Low at a stated 30-FPS target. If it aligns with the recommended row, the published target is 1080p on High at 60 FPS. Systems between, below, or well above those entries cannot be assigned a reliable Prospera preset from the current information.
A safe FPS-tuning method for the release build
The procedure below is a testing framework for when Prospera is playable and its menu is known. It is not a claim that any particular control has already been shown to improve Prospera’s performance.
1. Establish a repeatable baseline
- Update the game to the build you intend to play and record the build number.
- Choose one repeatable situation: the same save, camera position, weather state, population level, and activity if the game allows those to be reproduced.
- Record display resolution, preset, every visible graphics option, and whether an upscaler or frame-generation feature is enabled.
- Measure average FPS and frame-time behavior for long enough to include camera movement and normal simulation activity. A single peak number is not useful for judging smoothness.
For orientation, a 60-FPS target corresponds to about 16.7 milliseconds per frame, while 30 FPS corresponds to about 33.3 milliseconds. Spikes above those times are what create visible stutter, even when an on-screen average looks acceptable.

2. Identify whether the limit is graphics or simulation work
Watch GPU utilization, CPU utilization by core, memory use, and frame time while repeating the same test. A consistently saturated GPU suggests that a visual option or render resolution may be relevant; a busy game thread with unused GPU capacity suggests that simulation, draw-call, or other CPU work may be limiting. These observations tell you what to investigate; they do not prove that Prospera’s citizens, logistics, or railway systems are responsible for a drop.
3. Change one control at a time
When the final menu is available, lower one option, repeat the identical test, and record both the frame-time change and the visible quality loss. Do not change a preset, resolution, shadows, effects, and view distance simultaneously, because you will not know which adjustment helped. Restore a setting if its visual cost is larger than its measured benefit.
4. Protect the image at the chosen target
Start with the highest preset that meets your desired frame-time target in your heaviest repeatable scene. If a lower setting is necessary, prefer the adjustment that produces the smallest distracting change in the areas you watch most—such as the city skyline, roads, or first-person view. The correct choice depends on the actual controls and their implementation, neither of which is published yet.

5. Test resolution and scaling only when the game exposes them
Reducing internal resolution can increase performance but usually softens fine detail. If Prospera ships with a documented resolution-scale or upscaling option, compare native output with each supported mode at the same display resolution. Evaluate distant buildings, foliage, moving citizens, rail lines, and interface text rather than judging only a static screenshot. Do not assume a particular upscaler, quality mode, or frame-generation feature will be present.

6. Use a frame cap for consistency
If the game can hold a stable rate but frequently oscillates between higher and lower values, a cap at a sustainable level can produce steadier frame times and quieter hardware. Choose the cap only after measuring the demanding scene; a cap cannot fix a system that already misses its target.

Low performance even on the lowest available preset
- Confirm that the selected resolution is the one you intended and that no supersampling or unusually high render scale is active.
- Check that the game is using the intended GPU rather than an integrated graphics processor.
- Close background workloads that consume CPU, memory, or GPU resources, then repeat the same test.
- Verify DirectX 12 support and install a current, stable graphics driver appropriate for your card.
- If the result remains below the store-listed minimum target, wait for an official update or clarified requirements rather than assuming a hidden setting will solve it.
High FPS in a small settlement but drops in a large one
Record the population, active production, camera distance, and simulation state for both cases. A difference can indicate changing workload, but the current sources do not establish which Prospera system causes it. Use the repeatable-scene method and report the build number when seeking support.
Average FPS looks acceptable but motion feels uneven
- Inspect frame-time consistency instead of relying on the average counter.
- Test with overlays and recording software disabled, since they can add their own overhead.
- Compare a sustainable frame cap with an uncapped run.
- Check for shader compilation or asset-streaming pauses after updates; allow the game to finish any first-run process before drawing conclusions.
The game looks blurry after an FPS change
Check render scale, upscaling mode, anti-aliasing, and sharpening—if those controls exist in the released build. Capture before-and-after screenshots from the same camera position and restore the last setting that caused an unacceptable loss of detail.
What to verify before spending money on an upgrade
Do not buy a graphics card or replace a processor solely on the current Prospera page. The unusual GPU labels need confirmation, and the listing does not provide independent benchmarks, frame-time data, or a supported resolution above 1080p. A sensible upgrade decision should wait for clarified model requirements, a released build, and tests that identify whether your limitation is GPU rendering, CPU simulation, memory capacity, or something else.

When those details exist, a useful comparison should state the exact game build, resolution, preset, settings changed, scene or save, hardware, driver, average FPS, and frame-time behavior. Without those details, a number is not a reproducible Prospera result.
When this guidance should be updated
Recheck the live Steam listing and official developer communications when any of the following occurs:
- Prospera enters an accessible playtest or releases.
- The developer publishes a graphics-settings breakdown or optimization notes.
- The GPU names or other system requirements are corrected or expanded.
- The planned Q2 2027 release window changes.
- Independent testing provides repeatable scenes and frame-time measurements.
Until then, the most accurate answer to “What are the best settings for Prospera?” is that no evidence-backed preset exists. The published Low/30-FPS and High/60-FPS targets are useful starting points for checking hardware, but they are not guarantees and cannot substitute for testing the released game.
