That was a company goal, not a demonstrated way to work in your sleep: the 2023 reports cited here did not establish that Halo worked, launched, or became available to buy.
What Prophetic said Halo would do
A lucid dream is one in which the dreamer realizes they are dreaming. Prophetic’s founder and CEO, Eric Wollberg, described Halo as a device intended to induce lucid dreams and eventually give users some control over them. He told Fortune, “Control is what we want.”

The company’s proposed approach was to direct focused ultrasound toward brain areas it associated with lucid dreaming, awareness, and decision-making. That describes Prophetic’s design intent; the cited coverage did not demonstrate that Halo’s ultrasound could induce lucid dreams or control their content.

Could you actually keep working in a lucid dream?
Halo’s proposed applications included practicing a presentation, rehearsing an athlete’s plays, or exploring creative approaches to a problem. These were examples of possible uses offered by Wollberg, not outcomes established by a Halo trial. Fortune’s reporting framed dream work more plausibly as a way to explore approaches than as a dependable method of producing a specific answer or completing a work task.

Inducing a lucid dream and controlling one are separate challenges. Antonio Zadra, a University of Montreal professor specializing in sleep and dreaming, told Fortune that people can forget they are dreaming, become excited and wake up, or struggle to steer the dream even when lucid. As he put it, “It’s just not that simple.” Zadra said meditation, visualization, and keeping a dream journal may help someone work toward dream control; they do not guarantee it.
Why the Neuralink connection needs context
The Neuralink link was a design connection, not a product or endorsement relationship. Fortune reported that Afshin Mehin, founder of Card79 and a designer of Neuralink’s N1 device, was working with Prophetic on Halo. The reports do not say that Neuralink developed, endorsed, or sold the headband.

What was reported about Halo’s price and launch
In November 2023, Fortune reported that Prophetic expected shipments in spring 2025 and estimated a price of $1,500–$2,000. Futurism also reported in December 2023 that the company expected Halo to reach shelves in 2025 at that estimated price range. Those were forecasts made in 2023, not confirmation that the product launched or a statement of its current price. The cited reports do not establish whether Halo is now available.
What was known about development
Fortune reported in 2023 that Prophetic expected to draw on research from the Netherlands’ Donders Institute to inform the brain regions and ultrasound frequencies it would target. The same report said Prophetic had raised $1.1 million in Series A funding from Escape Velocity, O’Shaughnessy Ventures, and BoxGroup. Those details describe the project as reported at the time; neither funding nor research plans demonstrate that Halo’s intended effects were achieved.

What to take from the proposal
- Halo was presented in 2023 as a proposed Prophetic headband, not as an established consumer product.
- Focused ultrasound was Prophetic’s proposed method; the cited reports do not provide independent evidence that Halo induces lucid dreams.
- Lucidity does not automatically mean control, and control does not mean reliably completing a task in a dream.
- The productivity scenarios were possibilities described by the company, not verified results.
