Eligible households may be able to get one free hotspot and 200 GB of internet each year for five years through T-Mobile’s Project 10Million. The direct-to-parent offer is for qualifying K–12 families, requires proof of participation in an eligible assistance program, and depends on service coverage where you live. Check the current Project 10Million offer and terms before applying; T-Mobile describes it as limited-time, subject to change, and limited by available lines.
Who is eligible?
T-Mobile’s direct-to-parent/guardian application lists five qualifying programs: the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), SNAP/EBT, the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), Medicaid, and the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR). Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in one of these programs dated within one year of participation. The offer is limited to one per household, and T-Mobile advises confirming that the qualifying program can accept free equipment and service. These are the company’s stated rules; meeting them does not guarantee approval.

For context, T-Mobile says it has connected “over 6.7 million K-12 students” through Project 10Million and related programs since the initiative launched in 2020. That is T-Mobile’s own reported figure, not an independently evaluated outcome, on its current Project 10Million page (accessed October 7, 2026).

What proof should you gather?
The current enrollment flow generally expects documentation to show the applying parent or guardian’s first and last name, the qualifying program, and a date that meets the program’s current requirements. Documents should be current and not expired. If the proof does not identify the parent or guardian, the flow says an ID is required. Follow the live application’s instructions rather than sending benefit numbers or other sensitive details outside T-Mobile’s secure process.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- NSLP, SNAP/EBT, and FDPIR: Use documentation that identifies the qualifying program and satisfies the current name and date rules in the application.
- CEP: T-Mobile identifies a school enrollment letter or report card as possible proof, provided it meets the stated information and date requirements.
- Medicaid: Use an eligibility letter or online confirmation, or a card that identifies the Medicaid benefit. A standard health insurance card that does not identify Medicaid is not accepted as Medicaid proof.
The application accepts up to three uploads in PNG, JPG/JPEG, or PDF format, up to 9 MB each, according to T-Mobile’s program details. Requirements and upload rules can change, so check the form before uploading records.
How do you apply and get connected?
- Open the official family offer: Start at T-Mobile’s Project 10Million page and use the direct-to-parent application. Do not use district-specific terms as if they applied to a family account.
- Complete the application: Enter the parent or guardian and student information requested by the form.
- Upload proof: Submit qualifying, current documentation through the secure application flow and ensure the required program, date, and name information is visible.
- Review and sign the service agreement: Read the terms presented for your application. T-Mobile says it reviews applications and sends updates by email.
- Watch for shipment and setup instructions: Approved applicants receive the program hotspot by shipment. Device model availability and delivery estimates can vary; use your account or order communications for current details.
- Connect the student’s devices: Follow the included setup instructions. A separate computer or tablet is not required to apply, and the free hotspot is the program’s core device.
If you need help with a pending or denied case, follow the instructions in your application account or contact the official Project 10Million support page.

What does the free internet include—and what are its limits?
The advertised family offer is 200 GB of data for each annual service period, for five years. It is a capped allowance, not unlimited internet: service ends when the account reaches 200 GB or when 365 days have passed, whichever happens first, as described by T-Mobile’s offer terms.

Check T-Mobile coverage for your actual address; a general map cannot guarantee indoor reception at home.
- Congestion: T-Mobile says speeds may be lower than those of other customers when the network is busy.
- Video: Video streams at up to 2.5 Mbps (SD), according to the stated service terms.
- Roaming: Roaming is unavailable.
- Filtering: Optional educational filtering may block some content.
- Availability: T-Mobile labels the offer limited-time and subject to change, with available lines limited.
Whether 200 GB per year is enough depends on how many people share the connection and what they do online. School portals, documents, and routine browsing use the allowance differently from long video sessions or large downloads. If the household depends on video lessons, multiple simultaneous users, or reliable access throughout the day, consider those needs alongside the coverage check before relying on this as the only connection.

What if the application is denied?
First compare the submitted proof with the live application rules: it must identify one of the qualifying programs, meet the date requirement, and include the parent or guardian’s name—or be accompanied by the required ID when the proof lacks that name. For Medicaid, the document must specifically identify Medicaid. If the reason remains unclear, check the application account and denial email for next steps, then use T-Mobile’s official support channel. Do not send benefit identifiers through informal channels.

Families can use the direct-to-parent route described above. A separate route lets school districts apply on students’ behalf; T-Mobile for Education describes district-specific data options on its school program page. Those district arrangements are not the terms of an individual household application. If a school manages connectivity for students, ask its administrator whether the district is participating and what process applies.
