There is no single monthly electricity cost for using PRISM Live Studio to stream to YouTube in India. PRISM is software; the electricity is used by the phone or computer running it and any display or peripherals. To estimate your added energy charge, measure the setup’s average wall power, multiply it by your actual streaming hours, and apply the marginal rate on your electricity bill.
Calculate your monthly electricity cost
Use these two steps:
- Monthly energy (kWh) = average wall draw (W) × total streaming hours in the month ÷ 1,000.
- Estimated added energy charge = monthly energy (kWh) × applicable marginal energy charge (₹/kWh).
For a regular daily schedule, use average watts × streaming hours per day × days streamed ÷ 1,000 to find monthly kWh. Then multiply that result by your applicable marginal rate.

For example, if a meter recorded an average draw of W watts during your actual streaming setup and you stream H hours in a month, the energy used is W × H ÷ 1,000 kWh. These are variables, not a claim about PRISM’s typical power use: no universal PRISM-specific wattage or representative monthly cost is established.

A plug-in electricity usage meter with a cumulative kWh display can measure wall energy for equipment connected through it. No particular model is endorsed here. Measure the complete setup you plan to use—such as the computer, display and connected peripherals—and record energy over a representative streaming session. Divide the recorded kWh by the session hours to estimate average power: kWh × 1,000 ÷ hours = average watts.

- Data Memory Function: The wattage meter will record your power consumption data when you remove it from socket, or remove appliances from the electricity monitor. You can directly see the last data when you use it next time. This function can also automatically save the data when there is a sudden power failure
Do not treat a computer power supply’s rated wattage as its actual draw; the rating is not a measurement of what the computer consumes while streaming. A smart plug is useful for this calculation only if its model explicitly supports energy monitoring. Phone battery percentage loss is also not directly interchangeable with a wall meter’s kWh reading because charging and conversion losses vary.
Why PRISM does not have one fixed electricity figure
PRISM Live Studio runs on the device you use. Its official mobile getting-started guide lists Android 10 and iOS 16 as minimum operating-system versions and supports streaming to platforms including YouTube: PRISM mobile getting-started guide. Those requirements do not specify electricity use.

For desktop streaming, the computer’s workload depends on the scenes, sources, encoder, resolution and frame rate. PRISM’s desktop guidance discusses how these affect CPU/GPU use or performance, but does not publish a universal streaming wattage: PRISM Desktop guide. Your measured wall draw under your own planned settings is therefore more useful than a generic PC estimate.
Phone or computer: compare measured energy

Neither option can be called cheaper without measurements under comparable conditions. Record each setup’s kWh for a representative session, scale by the hours you expect to stream, and apply the same relevant tariff method.

Use your own electricity tariff
Indian retail tariffs are not a single nationwide rate. The Ministry of Power says the appropriate State Electricity Regulatory Commissions determine retail tariffs, and state governments may provide subsidies for consumer classes. The applicable category, slab and subsidy can affect what an extra unit costs. Check your electricity bill or your DISCOM’s tariff schedule for the rate relevant to your household. The Central Electricity Authority’s tariff and duty page identifies its March 2026 edition of the annual tariff report, which compiles state and utility schedules: CEA tariff and duty reports. A geographically limited example: Lakshadweep
The Department of Electricity, Union Territory of Lakshadweep lists the following LTDS-II Domestic Service energy charges for FY 2026–27. These are Lakshadweep figures, not an India-wide household rate.

The same FY 2026–27 schedule lists a fixed charge of ₹25 per kW per month. A stream’s added units may affect which energy charge applies; use your own category, bill and applicable schedule rather than treating one slab as a universal marginal rate. Source: Lakshadweep Department of Electricity.
The formula estimates the added energy charge, not the entire electricity bill. Fixed charges, duties, adjustments and subsidy effects can also influence the bill total.
