Use a price tracker to watch an exact product listing, then check its price history to decide whether a drop is worth acting on. A notification is a prompt to recheck—not a guarantee that the same price, seller, variant, or stock will still be available at checkout.
Choose a price tracker for the store and market you use
Start with the retailer where you plan to buy. Google Shopping can track products shown in its shopping experience in listed markets; Amazon has a price-history feature in its shopping experience; Keepa and camelcamelcamel focus on Amazon listings. Their features and availability differ, so confirm that the service covers your country and device before relying on it.

These are documented capabilities, not results from a side-by-side accuracy or speed test. Keepa’s Chrome listing and camelcamelcamel are Amazon-focused, so they are not substitutes for a general retailer tracker when the item is sold elsewhere.

Set up a useful price watch
- Open the exact product listing. Check details that affect the price, such as size, color, storage capacity, bundle, and seller. Track the matching version rather than a similar item.
- Choose a service that covers that listing. Use Google Shopping for eligible products in its supported markets, Amazon’s product-page history for context, or an Amazon-focused tracker for a watch or chart. Sign in or install an extension only when the chosen feature requires it.
- Save or track the product. If the service offers a target price, set one based on what you are willing to pay—not on a prediction that the price will fall.
- Enable the alert channel. Google requires notifications enabled and a signed-in Google Account; it documents push notifications and email for target-price drops. camelcamelcamel documents email alerts and says registration is optional. Confirm the item appears in your tracked or saved list.
- Verify the offer when an alert arrives. Reopen the retailer listing and check the current price, seller, shipping, product variant, and availability before buying.
Read price history without overinterpreting it
An alert tells you that a tracked condition changed. A history chart adds context by showing how the current offer compares with a particular service’s recorded prices over a stated window. Amazon documents 30-, 90-, and 365-day windows; the longest view is not available everywhere yet. A short-term low and a longer-term pattern are different comparisons, so consider the displayed time range before deciding a price is unusually low.

Charts describe the data a service tracks; they do not prove that a deal is deceptive, that the product is cheapest across all sellers, or that a displayed price will remain available. Prices change, and listings may differ in seller, condition, shipping, or variant. camelcamelcamel specifically advises checking Amazon’s live price and availability; Google also notes that prices are dynamic. Availability and notification caveats
- Google: The listed markets are the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and India. Google cautions that availability varies across devices and Google surfaces, and alerts depend on account sign-in and notification settings.
- Amazon: Amazon lists price history in the US, UK, Canada, and India. It says 365-day insights are rolling out in a subset: the US, UK, and India. Do not assume every account has the longest view.
- Browser extensions: Keepa’s documented capabilities come from its Chrome Web Store listing. Review that live listing for current permissions and compatibility; a permission list alone is not a complete privacy audit.
- Alerts are conditional: A service can notify only according to its coverage, tracked listing, data, and settings. An alert does not reserve stock or lock a price.
