Its biggest drawback is the price: his test car cost $149,610 as equipped. That is a review of one 2026 vehicle, not a promise of the same price or efficiency for every Macan.

John Velasco’s Tom’s Guide review, published September 17, 2026, covers a 2026 Macan Turbo Electric driven on highways and backroads, with charging at home and on the road. The impressions below are his, rather than results from an independent instrumented test. The vehicle figures are the review’s specifications for that test car.

These 2026 review-car numbers differ from Porsche’s current US listing for the 2027 model. Porsche lists that vehicle from $112,700 MSRP before options, taxes, title, registration, delivery and handling, dealer charges, and potential tariffs; dealers set actual selling prices. The 2027 page gives 630 hp, a 3.1-second 0–60 mph time, 100.0 kWh gross battery capacity and range up to 288 miles. Keep the model years and price bases distinct when comparing them. How it drives: the strongest part of the review
Velasco describes immediate acceleration and composed, precise cornering as sports-car-like. Those are his subjective impressions from the week, not a guarantee of how every driver will experience the vehicle. His overall enthusiasm rests on more than straight-line speed: he also praises how flat and agile the SUV feels through corners.

Efficiency: a limited drive, not a range rating
The reviewer reports an average of 3.28 miles per kWh after 200.8 miles. That is the result of this particular review drive, not an official efficiency or range figure. In the review’s comparison table, he reports 3.61 mi/kWh for a 2026 Volvo EX30 Ultra Twin Motor Performance and 3.1 mi/kWh for a 2025 Genesis GV60 Performance AWD. Charging: home use and the limits of Porsche’s fast-charge claim
During the week, Velasco charged at home and on the road. The review notes AC charging ports on both rear fenders and a DC fast-charging port on the left side. For home charging, confirm that equipment and electrical service are compatible with the vehicle and your location; Porsche’s US page points to its home charging hardware and installation information, including installation services powered by Qmerit. Availability and terms depend on location.

Porsche says DC charging from 10% to 80% can take 21 minutes under specified optimal conditions: a CCS fast charger above 270 kW and 850 V, a battery at 77°F, an initial state of charge of 9%, and remaining range below 37 miles. Treat that as a conditional manufacturer claim, not a typical-time guarantee. Actual charging depends on the charger, battery and surrounding conditions. Cabin, comfort and everyday utility
The reviewer praises the cabin’s quietness and says the rear seats are usable for adults. He also reports a 2.9-cubic-foot front trunk and usable rear cargo space. These observations make the Macan more than a performance-focused weekend vehicle in his account, though the review does not establish a standardized cargo-volume comparison with rivals.

Technology: thoughtful features, with one driving-assist complaint
Velasco highlights the augmented-reality head-up display, a passenger screen with a privacy feature, ambient lighting that alerts the driver to vehicles in blind spots, and adaptive cruise behavior. His main technology criticism is that automated lane-change assist feels abrupt. Buyers who rely on that feature should try it themselves before deciding whether its behavior suits them.

For this review, the answer is not an unconditional yes. The Macan Turbo Electric impressed Velasco with speed, agility, refinement and technology, but he found the $149,610 as-tested price difficult to justify for many buyers. The distinction between that equipped 2026 test car and the 2027 US model’s $112,700 starting MSRP matters: the former reflects the review vehicle’s configuration, while the latter is a starting price before listed charges and options.

The review also compares the Macan with the Volvo EX30 Ultra Twin Motor Performance and Genesis GV60 Performance AWD. Its supported comparison points are reported test prices, efficiency, driving character, equipment and refinement; the drives are not standardized head-to-head tests. The practical question is whether the Macan’s particular blend of performance and polish is worth paying a substantial premium for, rather than whether its acceleration figure alone is impressive.

- Consider it if: you want an electric SUV whose appeal centers on rapid acceleration, composed handling and a refined cabin, and the price of the configuration you want fits your budget.
- Look more closely at alternatives if: value is a priority, or you want to compare real-world efficiency and equipment across vehicles using consistent conditions rather than isolated review figures.
- Check before buying: the specific model year, final configured price, charging setup and whether the lane-change assist feels acceptable to you.
