That does not make either provider the universal winner: compare the same hosting category, then match site limits, storage, renewal cost, and included tools to your needs. The published figures below reflect provider pages accessed October 7, 2026; plan details and prices can change.
What counts as a fair Porkbun vs Namecheap hosting comparison?
Compare products built for the same job. Porkbun sells cPanel hosting alongside Cloud for WordPress, Static Hosting, Easy PHP, Link In Bio, and Articulation products. Namecheap offers shared hosting, managed WordPress hosting, VPS, and dedicated servers. A Porkbun shared cPanel plan is not a like-for-like alternative to a Namecheap VPS.

This comparison focuses on entry-level shared hosting, using the published cPanel and shared-plan details. WordPress, VPS, and dedicated products should be compared separately based on the workload and level of control required.
Which provider is cheaper after renewal?
For the specific plans with published annual renewal figures, Namecheap lists lower annual costs than Porkbun’s cPanel tiers. The prices below are provider-published amounts, not independent price checks. Namecheap says its updated shared-plan renewal rates apply to invoices issued on or after May 19, 2026.
| Provider and plan | Annual price | Published capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Porkbun cPanel, 1 site | $90 per year | 25 GB |
| Porkbun cPanel, 10 sites | $120 per year | 50 GB |
| Porkbun cPanel, 25 sites | $170 per year | 75 GB |
| Porkbun cPanel, 50 sites | $240 per year | 100 GB |
| Namecheap Stellar | $55.88 per year renewal | 20 GB SSD |
| Namecheap Stellar Plus | $85.44 per year renewal | Unmetered SSD |
| Namecheap Stellar Business | $128.88 per year renewal | 50 GB SSD |
Namecheap also lists two-year renewal totals of $102.88 for Stellar, $146.44 for Stellar Plus, and $251.88 for Stellar Business. Its overview advertises a starting offer of $1.88 per month billed every two years; that promotional figure is not the same as the annual renewal prices in the table. Check the checkout terms for the selected plan, billing period, and any domain bundle before you buy.
How do site limits, storage, and resource rules compare?
Porkbun cPanel
Porkbun’s annual cPanel tiers scale from one site and 25 GB to 50 sites and 100 GB. Paid plans include SSD storage and unmetered bandwidth, but “unmetered” does not mean unlimited use: Porkbun says resources are shared and use must remain reasonable. It intends storage and bandwidth for website files, not archives or unrelated file storage.

Namecheap shared plans
Namecheap’s listed capacities include 20 GB SSD on Stellar, unmetered SSD on Stellar Plus, and 50 GB SSD on Stellar Business. Site allowances differ by tier, with higher plans allowing unlimited hosted domain names. Its unmetered-storage offer remains subject to the acceptable-use policy; read the plan terms rather than treating the label as permission for unrestricted storage.

A large site allowance is useful only if the plan’s storage and resource-use terms suit the workload.
What tools are included?
Porkbun lists PHP, MySQL, FTP, a free SSL certificate, and Softaculous Auto Installer with its paid cPanel plans. Its cPanel option is aimed at people comfortable with cPanel who want a graphical interface or multi-site hosting.
Namecheap lists cPanel, free SSL, one-click CMS installation, and 24/7 support among its hosting features. Confirm the exact feature set on the plan you intend to purchase, especially if a particular installer, email service, or backup feature is essential.

Which is better for WordPress or a growing site?
For an ordinary site that can run on shared hosting, use the shared plans’ capacity and renewal cost to decide; the provider names alone do not determine whether a site will perform well. For WordPress-focused hosting, compare Namecheap’s managed WordPress offering with Porkbun’s Cloud for WordPress rather than assuming either is equivalent to its cPanel or shared plan. Porkbun advertises Cloud for WordPress from $2.50 per month in a first-year sale after a 15-day trial. The promotional “from” price is not directly comparable with the shared-plan renewal figures.
Namecheap describes shared hosting as suited to beginners and small sites, managed WordPress for WordPress-focused users, VPS for growing applications and e-commerce that need more control, and dedicated servers for high-traffic or enterprise projects. Those product categories are a starting point for choosing what to compare, not independent evidence of performance.

Can you move a website to Namecheap?
Namecheap says new hosting customers can request migration help from its team or follow its migration guide. That is a documented option for Namecheap; comparable Porkbun migration terms are not established here. Before switching, confirm which files, databases, email accounts, and DNS settings need to move, and agree on a migration window that minimizes disruption.
Which host should you choose?
- Choose Namecheap shared hosting if the plan’s site allowance and storage fit, and its published renewal prices are the stronger match for your budget.
- Choose Porkbun cPanel if you want the listed cPanel tiers for multiple sites and value Softaculous, PHP, and MySQL in that package.
- Compare managed WordPress separately if you want a WordPress-specific product; do not use a shared-plan price as a substitute for its terms.
- Look beyond shared hosting if your application needs more control or resources; compare VPS or dedicated products on equivalent requirements.
Neither provider can be declared the speed or reliability winner from the available published plan information. No independent, like-for-like uptime, speed, or support-response benchmark is established here, so base the choice on documented plan terms rather than unmeasured performance claims.
