Popular YouTube Gaming Streamers to Learn From (2025 Rankings)

If you want to learn from popular YouTube gaming streamers, start with the 2025 watch-time ranking—but choose a creator whose game, format, and style match what you want to improve. Popularity can point you toward successful formats; it does not prove that a streamer is a good teacher.

Who were the most popular gaming streamers on YouTube in 2025?

Streams Charts ranked YouTube Gaming creators by hours watched for 2025. These are dated platform-wide figures, not current 2026 audience counts, and hours watched measure viewing time rather than teaching quality. The ranking also reflects how long creators streamed: Streams Charts says IShowSpeed’s 2025 hours-watched growth was driven entirely by higher airtime. See Streams Charts’ 2025 year-in-review.

Rank Creator Hours watched in 2025 What the ranking profile says they do
1 IShowSpeed 69,081,346 Top-ranked creator; the cited profile does not characterize a specific game focus here.
2 Miko Ch. 49,320,647 Japanese VTuber whose streams mix audience interaction and role-play-focused gaming.
3 Pekora Ch. 47,593,315 Japanese VTuber whose streams mix audience interaction and role-play-focused gaming.
4 Gaules 46,150,376 Portuguese-language Counter-Strike community caster.
5 Kuzuha Channel 38,603,195 Male VTuber who streams League of Legends, Valorant, and GTA V.
6 MixiGaming 34,747,379 Covers indie games and Grand Theft Auto.
7 Typical Gamer 32,873,154 Primarily Fortnite, with occasional other games.
8 Set1awanade 30,249,617 Mobile esports tournament-focused creator.
9 BaianoTV 30,045,985 League of Legends community caster.
10 LoLzZz Gaming 29,884,524 Mobile esports tournament-focused creator.

The list spans different languages, games, and approaches. It is a useful discovery shortlist, not a universal recommendation: a Counter-Strike caster may be valuable for commentary and match analysis, while a Fortnite-focused creator may be a closer reference for that game’s audience and pacing.

What can I learn from watching gaming streamers?

Watch with a specific question in mind. The strongest lesson may be about how a creator explains decisions, sustains a live show, packages a highlight, or makes chat part of the experience—not necessarily about copying their game choice or personality.

Gameplay decisions and replay review

For gameplay improvement, study decisions rather than only wins. Notice positioning, timing, resource use, and how a player reacts when a plan fails. TIME quoted Ninja, discussing his book Get Good, on the value of replay review: “It’s very hard to be conscious, in the moment, of every decision you’re making,” and “Replays are useful for figuring out what you might have done differently, or seeing your play with new eyes to assess why you’re losing.” That is advice about improving gameplay, not proof that replay analysis grows a channel. Read TIME’s 2019 coverage.

Live interaction and show format

Compare how creators handle chat, role-play, commentary, and long sessions. Miko Ch. and Pekora Ch. are described as combining audience interaction with role-play-focused gaming; Gaules and BaianoTV are community casters; mobile esports-focused channels center on tournaments. These are different ways to make an audience part of a gaming broadcast, not a single formula to copy.

YouTube’s creator material describes gaming creators using Live, VOD, and Shorts to tell stories. A historical example is Lachlan repackaging stream or VOD highlights as Shorts; treat that as an example of format reuse, not a current performance benchmark. YouTube’s creator material on gaming also discusses how creator feedback contributed to features such as Clips, Live Control Room, and live-chat tools.

Focus, variety, and personality

Study whether a creator’s draw is a particular game, a broader selection, or a recognizable presentation style. Typical Gamer is primarily Fortnite-focused but sometimes branches out; MixiGaming’s profile includes indie games and GTA. The ranking also includes game-specific casters and VTubers. Compare how each approach serves its audience rather than assuming every channel should be narrowly focused or cover many games.

Packaging and discovery

Notice how a video or stream sets expectations: does the title describe the actual match, challenge, or topic, and does the creator identify the game clearly? YouTube says gaming pages are auto-generated when a game has significant presence on the site; they collect videos and live streams algorithmically and are not editorial endorsements. Its guidance recommends accurate titles and descriptions, quality rather than quantity of tags, and choosing the correct Gaming category and game in Studio. Read YouTube’s guidance on gaming discovery.

Which streamer should you study for your goal?

Use the ranking as a starting point, then narrow it to the skill you want to build. A high watch-time total cannot tell you whether a creator’s teaching suits your needs.

A 2025 Big Games Machine survey offers context on how respondents describe their viewing: 44% selected general gaming YouTubers as the creator type they watched most, 41% selected streamers, and 25% selected style-driven creators, with examples including informative, humorous, or educational styles. In that survey, 50% of respondents aged 18–24 mostly watched streamers, compared with 27% of respondents aged 44–55. These are survey results, not estimates of all YouTube users or evidence that one format teaches better. Read Big Games Machine’s 2025 report and methodology.

If you want to try gaming livestreaming

YouTube’s computer live-streaming help says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube presents mobile, webcam, and encoder streaming as options; an encoder is commonly used for gameplay, overlays, and peripherals such as microphones and cameras. Check YouTube’s current requirements before scheduling, since platform rules can change. Review YouTube’s computer live-streaming requirements.

Prepare a test broadcast

  1. Verify access: Confirm channel verification and check that you can use live streaming before planning an event.
  2. Choose a workflow: Use an encoder if you need gameplay capture, overlays, or audio peripherals; YouTube also offers mobile and webcam routes.
  3. Set up ahead of time: For an encoder event, configure it in advance and check the preview in Live Control Room before going live.
  4. Test the whole signal: Check game and microphone audio, picture quality, and the stream from a viewer’s perspective. YouTube recommends a test stream and monitoring audio and video quality.
  5. Check the recording: If you keep a local archive, confirm it is intact and accessible after the stream.
  6. Keep the first setup simple: YouTube says expensive equipment is not required: “what you have at hand will do.” A webcam, microphone, or encoder hardware can be useful depending on your workflow, but they are not prerequisites for learning or starting. Read YouTube’s live-streaming guidance.

Choose the right game and presentation

In YouTube Studio, select the Gaming category and the correct game, and use an accurate title and description. YouTube’s automatically generated game pages are discovery surfaces, not endorsements, so clear packaging helps viewers understand what they are opening without promising a placement or audience result.

Keep rights and channel rules in view

Before broadcasting or uploading game footage, check the game publisher’s streaming policy and YouTube’s rules for the material in your video. Music, overlays, and other third-party material can raise separate copyright issues. Separately, permission to show gameplay does not itself guarantee monetization: YouTube applies its own monetization policies, including rules on reused content. Do not assume that adding commentary or editing automatically resolves a rights or monetization concern.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is to keep a prerecorded gaming video live on YouTube 24/7, StreamNeo is an alternative to running a computer and encoder continuously. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera, and streams to YouTube only.

How should you judge whether a creator is useful to you?

After watching a few streams or videos, write down one thing you can apply: a decision to review, a way to explain a play, an interaction format, or an editing choice. Then try it in your own context and evaluate the result. Popular creators provide examples; your game, language, audience, and goals determine which lessons transfer.
