When does it launch, and how long is it available?
Poppy Secret Run is scheduled to open on October 23, 2026, and remain playable through November 23, 2026. That makes it a temporary Fortnite island rather than a permanent game mode. Anyone planning to play should treat November 23 as the stated end of the run; the announcement does not promise that the island will return afterward.

How the gameplay works
Light and Dark routes
At key points, players choose between Light and Dark. Those decisions determine where they end up, creating alternate routes through the clock universe instead of one fixed sequence for every participant. A second playthrough with different choices can therefore reveal a different path through the experience.
Performance-only mode
Players who want the music without the interactive layer can enter a performance-only mode. This option removes the main gameplay component and focuses on the presentation of “Time Will Tell,” making the island usable as either an exploratory game or a more passive musical experience.
Locked-door stories
Locked doors provide optional discoveries beyond the central run. According to the announcement, they contain stories Poppy has not previously shared. The available information does not specify how many doors there are or exactly how they are opened, so those details will become clear when the island is playable.
Is Poppy Secret Run free?
The announcement describes Fortnite as free on consoles, PC and mobile, and says the experience can be played solo or by groups of up to four people. It does not identify a separate entry fee, pass or required purchase for Poppy Secret Run. Players will still need a compatible Fortnite installation and an internet connection, with platform-specific account or age requirements applying as usual.

Is this part of Fortnite Festival?
No. Fortnite Festival is Epic’s music-based rhythm experience, with Main Stage and Jam Stage modes designed around musical performance mechanics. Poppy Secret Run is presented instead as an independent Fortnite experience built around branching exploration and narrative choices. Its core activity is deciding which route to follow, not performing notes in a rhythm chart.

Is Epic Games officially involved?
SoWhen?’s developer statement says the island was independently created in Fortnite and is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Epic Games. That wording matters: Fortnite provides the platform, but the available announcement does not describe Poppy Secret Run as an Epic-produced event, an official Fortnite Festival season or an Epic-administered pass item.
“Hosted exclusively on Fortnite” describes where players access the experience, while the independence statement describes who created and manages it. Both can be true at the same time.
How to play when it opens
- Install or update Fortnite on a supported console, PC or mobile device.
- Sign in to the Fortnite account you use for the platform.
- Look for the Poppy Secret Run island when it launches on October 23, 2026. The announcement does not yet provide an island code or a precise menu path.
- Choose solo play or enter with a party of up to four players.
- Follow the musical journey, selecting Light or Dark when the route branches.

What makes it different from a virtual concert?
A conventional virtual concert generally gives every viewer the same sequence. Poppy Secret Run adds agency: the route changes according to player decisions, and optional doors provide extra narrative material. The performance-only mode preserves a straightforward way to experience the song, but the Light and Dark structure gives the island replay value that a single linear screening would not have.
