Poonawalla Fincorp reported consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of ₹374.85 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2026, compared with ₹74.20 crore a year earlier. ICICI Direct calculated the year-on-year increase at 405.19%—the basis for describing profit as roughly five times higher, not as a 500% increase.
What Poonawalla Fincorp reported for Q2 FY27

How to read the “five times” headline
Profit rose by ₹300.65 crore compared with the reported Q2 FY26 figure. ICICI Direct’s calculation of 405.19% year-on-year growth means the new PAT was just over five times the earlier amount: 100% growth would mean a doubling, while an increase of about 405% produces a total around 505% of the starting figure. It does not mean profit increased by 500%.

PAT, revenue and NII are different measures
Net interest income (NII) measures interest earned on loans and other interest-bearing assets minus interest paid on borrowings and deposits. The Economic Times reported Q2 FY27 NII of ₹1,380 crore, up 80.6% year on year, citing an exchange filing. The Economic Times
- PAT: ₹374.85 crore, the reported consolidated profit after tax.
- Revenue from operations: ₹2,624.50 crore, as reported by ICICI Direct.
- Total income: ₹2,624.84 crore, as reported by ICICI Direct.
- NII: ₹1,380 crore, as reported by The Economic Times.
These measures describe different parts of the business and should not be treated as interchangeable. Poonawalla Fincorp described itself in its Q2 FY26 press release as a non-deposit-taking, systemically important non-banking financial company focused on consumer and MSME finance. Poonawalla Fincorp

What the reported figures do not establish
The figures available here do not show how much of the PAT increase came from lending growth, interest margins, operating costs, provisions or other items. They also do not provide a supported Q2 FY27 sequential comparison, asset-quality measures, credit costs, margins or earnings per share. Those questions require the quarter’s detailed results and notes; the reported headline figures alone cannot explain the change.
For context only, Poonawalla Fincorp’s Q3 FY26 release reported assets under management of ₹55,017 crore, NII of ₹1,080 crore, PAT of ₹150 crore, gross non-performing assets (GNPA) of 1.51% and net non-performing assets (NNPA) of 0.80%. Those are Q3 FY26 figures, not Q2 FY27 results. Poonawalla Fincorp
