What the offer actually gives you
Steam labels this promotion “Free to Keep.” That term matters. Steam uses it for a time-limited giveaway or 100% discount where a successful claim gives you a permanent copy of the game. It is different from two other Steam formats:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Free to Play games are permanently free to acquire and usually stay free to access.
- Free Weekend grants a temporary license to try a paid game for a limited period.
- Free to Keep is a claim window. Once you add the game, it is yours. Pony Island is the case here.
The claimed copy uses the same app ID and depots as the base game, so it is the full game rather than a demo or trial build.
The deadline and the time zone
The Steam store page tells customers to obtain Pony Island before October 12 at 10:00 to keep it free. It does not name a time zone for that hour.

SteamDB’s package history for the promotion, titled “Pony Island Limited Free Promotional Package – Oct 2026,” records the window as follows:
| Item | Value recorded by SteamDB | Value shown on the Steam store page |
|---|---|---|
| Window start | October 8, 2026, 17:00 UTC | Not stated |
| Window end | October 12, 2026, 17:00 UTC | October 12 at 10:00, no time zone named |
The two clocks are probably the same moment. 17:00 UTC is 10:00 in Pacific Daylight Time, but the store text does not confirm that zone, so treat the store’s own wording as what you see on screen. If you are cutting it close, plan to claim well before 10:00 on the 12th in your local time, and convert from UTC if you prefer to use the SteamDB figure.

About the game
The store description calls Pony Island “a suspense puzzle game in disguise.” You play as a soul trapped in limbo, inside a malfunctioning arcade machine built by the devil. The devil does not want its puzzles solved or its poor programming exposed, so the game is a battle of wits against the machine itself. The store page ends with the line “It is not a game about ponies,” which is a fair warning about the title.
