No. Poly Fighter is currently presented as a solo, single-player roguelike fighting game for Windows PC. Its official Steam listing documents one-on-one fights against the game’s opponents, but it does not document local multiplayer, online multiplayer, co-op, ranked play, or cross-play.

“Not documented” is important wording here. It means the current official materials do not promise the feature; it is not a claim that an unannounced mode can never be added.

There is no officially documented local multiplayer mode. Poly Fighter is labeled a single-player game, and its described structure has one player taking on a sequence of opponents. The current listing does not mention two-player versus, shared-screen play, hot-seat matches, or a way to assign separate controllers to two human fighters.

That makes Poly Fighter different from a traditional arcade fighter intended for two people sitting at the same screen. Its one-on-one presentation describes the shape of each battle, not the number of human participants: your fighter faces an opponent controlled by the game while you make the decisions and inputs.
What you should expect when starting a local session
- There is no documented “local versus” menu to select.
- Connecting a second controller is not documented as a supported way to add another player.
- The progression system is built around one player’s run, discoveries, upgrades, and unlocks rather than a shared match lobby.
- A controller can make solo play more comfortable, but controller support does not itself imply two-player support.
Unless a later update adds a local mode and identifies it in the game’s official notes, you should buy Poly Fighter as a single-player title rather than as a couch multiplayer game.
Does Poly Fighter have online multiplayer?
The current official description does not list online PvP, online co-op, matchmaking, private rooms, invitations, or network play. It instead emphasizes “No ranked ladders. No online stress,” and describes the experience as pure 1v1 combat without presenting a competitive online service.

In Poly Fighter’s documented format, the opponent is part of the solo roguelike run. There is no stated internet connection requirement for a match and no published online ruleset, rating system, or lobby flow.
What is absent from the current online feature set
- No ranked ladder or rating progression is advertised.
- No casual matchmaking queue is advertised.
- No direct friend challenge or private-room system is advertised.
- No cooperative mode is described.
- No online spectator or tournament feature is described.
If your goal is to practice with a friend over the internet, Poly Fighter’s documented feature set does not provide a supported path. The game’s progression is intended to be experienced by one player learning opponents and refining a build, not by two players sharing a network match.

Is Poly Fighter cross-platform or cross-play?
Cross-play is not offered or documented in the current materials. Cross-play requires at least two supported platforms and an online connection that lets their players meet. Poly Fighter’s listing identifies Windows PC as the platform and does not identify a console release or an online multiplayer mode.
That means there is currently no official basis for a Windows player to match with someone on Xbox, PlayStation, or another PC storefront. Controller compatibility should not be confused with console availability: an Xbox or PlayStation controller can work on a Windows PC through Steam without the game being released on those consoles.

What you actually do in Poly Fighter
Poly Fighter’s appeal is its solo fighting-game progression. Each encounter is a one-on-one battle, but the long-term objective is not simply to win isolated arcade matches. You develop a run by learning techniques, changing your approach, and unlocking more of the roster.
Fight through a roguelike run
You choose a fighter and challenge opponents in sequence. Winning fights lets you discover new moves and alter the tools available to your character. A failed run is part of the learning process: you return with a better understanding of spacing, timing, defensive choices, and which techniques fit the way you want to play.

Learn moves from victories
Victories can reveal new moves associated with the opponents you defeat. Those discoveries give the progression system a fighting-game flavor: success is not only a higher score, but also access to techniques that can change future decisions. You can swap or upgrade techniques rather than being locked into one permanent move set.

Build a personal style
The documented examples include zoner, grappler, and rushdown approaches. A zoner generally wants to control distance and force an opponent to navigate hazards or projectiles. A grappler prefers close-range pressure and powerful throws. A rushdown style aims to stay on the offensive and deny the opponent time to reset. Poly Fighter lets you shape a customized style by selecting and improving techniques instead of treating every run as an identical preset fighter.
Advance through leagues and ascension
The game includes three leagues and ascension runs. These provide longer-term goals for players who enjoy increasing difficulty and testing whether a refined build still works under tougher conditions. The progression is therefore designed around repeated solo attempts, experimentation, and mastery rather than a shared multiplayer season.
Unlock additional playable characters
The discovery loop also includes unlocking more playable characters. The Steam Community description explains the basic pattern: select a fighter, challenge a rival, win to discover that character, and complete the conditions required to unlock them. This gives you reasons to revisit the solo campaign with different tools and matchup possibilities.
Controls: do you need a controller?
You do not need a special proprietary device. Steam lists full support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers, and the developers recommend playing with a controller. A compatible gamepad is therefore the safest choice if you want the input method the creators designed around.

Controller options
- An Xbox controller connected by USB, Bluetooth, or a compatible wireless adapter can be used through Steam.
- A PlayStation controller is also listed as supported through Steam.
- Steam Input may translate a connected pad’s controls where necessary, depending on your hardware and client settings.
- The official listing does not establish a required controller model, a required brand, or a separate console edition.
The available information does not specify a complete keyboard-and-mouse control layout. If you plan to play without a controller, check the current in-game control settings and Steam input screen after installation rather than assuming every controller instruction maps directly to a keyboard.
Basic setup on Windows
- Connect your Xbox or PlayStation controller to the Windows PC by USB or pair it through your controller’s supported wireless method.
- Open Steam and confirm that the controller appears under Steam’s controller settings.
- Launch Poly Fighter from your Steam library.
- At the title screen, press a button on the gamepad and verify that menu focus and character control respond correctly.
- If inputs are missing, close conflicting remapping tools, reconnect the controller, and review the game’s Steam Input configuration before starting a run.
These steps establish controller input; they do not create a second player slot. The game’s documented support is for controlling the solo experience.

The Steam listing identifies Windows 10 64-bit as the minimum operating-system target. That is the clearest published platform requirement in the current information. It does not establish performance expectations for every processor, graphics card, or laptop, so hardware owners should check the live store requirements before purchase if their PC is close to the minimum.
The listing records an October 13, 2026 Early Access release date and describes the project as work in progress. The game also offers a demo and playtest access. Official community news says development continues through demos, playtests, events, and player feedback.

What Early Access means for multiplayer questions
Early Access explains why a feature can be absent today without the developers declaring the subject permanently closed. The current promise remains the current promise: solo play is documented, while local multiplayer, online modes, and cross-play are not. Future plans should be treated as unconfirmed until an official update adds a mode, names its platform support, and explains how players access it.

For a purchase decision, read the current listing as a description of what is available now, not as a guarantee that every commonly requested fighting-game feature will arrive later. Demos and playtests let you evaluate changes as they are released, but they do not turn an unlisted multiplayer feature into an existing one.

Because the game is in Early Access, the most reliable way to verify a change is to read the current Steam store description, update notes, and official community announcements immediately before installing or buying. Look for explicit terms such as “local multiplayer,” “online PvP,” “co-op,” “cross-play,” supported platforms, player count, and controller-slot instructions.
