Polar H10 is the better fit if you need two Bluetooth connections at once or want to record a workout on the sensor and sync it later. Polar H9 is the simpler choice if you send heart-rate data to one nearby device and do not need onboard workout storage. Both are electrical chest sensors, and Polar lists the same core transmission options, water resistance and battery life for both. The documented differences are about connectivity, memory and the included strap—not a proven accuracy advantage.
What is different between the Polar H9 and H10?
The H10 adds two features the H9 does not list: simultaneous connections to two Bluetooth devices and storage for one training session. The H9 and H10 otherwise share the same broad measurement and transmission categories in Polar’s official comparison.

| Feature | Polar H9 | Polar H10 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Measurement | Electrical, chest-worn | Electrical, chest-worn | Both measure heart rate at the chest; the shared category does not establish a measured accuracy difference. |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth Low Energy; two simultaneous connections are not listed | Two simultaneous Bluetooth connections | H10 can send data to two compatible receiving devices at once. |
| Sensor memory | No built-in workout memory listed | One training session, up to 30 hours | H10 can record a session for later syncing through Polar Beat. |
| Other transmission | ANT+ and 5 kHz/GymLink | ANT+ and 5 kHz/GymLink | Both support compatible ANT+ devices and 5 kHz/GymLink equipment. |
| Battery | Replaceable; up to 400 hours | Replaceable; up to 400 hours | Polar lists no operating-time advantage for either sensor. |
| Water resistance | 30 m | 30 m | This rating is not a guarantee of wireless transmission underwater. |
| Included strap | Polar Soft Strap | Polar Pro Strap | The straps differ, but comfort and durability depend on fit and use. |
These are Polar’s published product specifications, not independent test results. The H9 product information and manual and H10 product information and manual describe the respective models.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the H9 for a straightforward one-device setup
- You record heart rate on one nearby watch, phone or compatible training device.
- You do not need to store a workout on the sensor for later syncing.
- You want the shared core measurement and transmission features without paying for H10 features you will not use. Compare current local prices before deciding on value; prices and stock vary.
Choose the H10 for dual Bluetooth or phone-free recording
- You want to send heart-rate data to two Bluetooth receivers at the same time, such as a watch and compatible training equipment.
- You want to leave your phone behind during a workout and sync the recorded session afterward.
- The included Pro Strap better suits your fit or intended use. The available specifications do not establish that it is more comfortable for every wearer.
How H10 workout storage works
Polar says the H10 can store one training session, up to 30 hours. To use this feature, start the session with Polar Beat; afterward, sync the workout. Polar’s H10 manual says syncing clears the sensor memory, so download the session before recording another one. The manual also treats heart-rate data as sensitive and recommends syncing after the workout.

Are the H9 and H10 equally accurate?
The official specifications establish that both are electrical chest sensors, but they do not provide a comparative accuracy test. That means the available evidence cannot identify an accuracy winner—or prove that their measured performance is equivalent. Choose between them based on the documented connectivity and memory features rather than an unsupported accuracy claim.
Can either sensor transmit heart rate underwater?
Polar lists 30 m water resistance for both models, but water resistance and signal transmission are separate. The H9 manual says Bluetooth and ANT+ do not work underwater. It describes GymLink as usable in water, while warning that pool or sea water can short-circuit the electrodes and prevent electrical signals from being detected. Do not infer reliable swimming data from the water-resistance rating alone.

How to fit and care for the strap
- Moisten the strap’s electrode area, then fasten it snugly against your chest.
- After training, detach the sensor connector to help preserve battery life, and rinse the strap under running water.
- Wash the strap often at 40°C / 104°F, following the care guidance in Polar’s H9 manual. The manual also recommends rinsing after use.
Polar’s H9 manual says to pair the sensor with the Polar Flow app to get started. For the H10’s stored-workout feature, use Polar Beat to start and sync the session.
