Pokémon Wordle Games Compared: Daily Puzzles, Rules, and Difficulty (2026 Guide)

There is no single Pokémon Wordle. The name is used for several unrelated browser games. Squirdle is an attribute-deduction game: you infer a hidden Pokémon from generation, type, height, and weight clues. PokeDoku is a 3×3 category grid in which every answer must satisfy both its row and column. The name Pokédle refers to at least two different sites: Pokédle on Pokédoodle presents eight daily puzzle formats, while Pokédle.today offers Classic, Silhouette, Pixel, Cry, Description, and Unlimited modes.

Choose by the knowledge you want to use: attributes and deduction for Squirdle, broad category recall and planning for PokeDoku, or visual, audio, text, stat, and team-recognition challenges for the two Pokédle sites. The published pages do not provide controlled completion-rate data, so there is no evidence-based hardest-to-easiest ranking.

Game and official page Core puzzle Feedback or constraints Published daily schedule Main skills tested
Squirdle Guess one hidden Pokémon from a database. Clues cover generation, type, height, and weight. The emoji key distinguishes correct and incorrect results, type-position information, and higher/lower numeric clues. New puzzle at midnight in the player’s local time. Attribute knowledge, numeric comparison, and deduction.
PokeDoku Fill a 3×3 grid by matching a Pokémon to every row-and-column category intersection. Nine cells; each answer must fit both criteria and cannot be reused. A uniqueness score adds answer percentages, with a lower total being better. New puzzle at midnight EST. Pokémon recall, category matching, and strategic answer selection.
Pokédle on Pokédoodle One daily collection containing eight different mini-puzzles. Formats include drawing, fusion, silhouette, cry, redacted Pokédex text, base-stat comparison, shiny lineup, and a gym-team impostor. The same daily set is shown to everyone and refreshes at local midnight. Rapidly switching among visual, sound, text, stat, memory, and team skills.
Pokédle.today Classic hidden-Pokémon guessing plus separate clue modes. Modes listed by the site are Classic, Silhouette, Pixel, Cry, Description, and Unlimited. Daily puzzle resets at 00:00 UTC worldwide. Attribute deduction, image and sound recognition, and text recognition.

“Pokédle” is therefore a site name, not a single standardized game. Always identify whether you mean Pokédoodle or Pokédle.today when sharing a score or asking for help.

Squirdle: solve the Pokémon from its attributes

Squirdle follows the familiar hidden-answer guessing pattern, but its information comes from Pokémon attributes rather than letter positions. The official page describes it as “A Pokémon Wordle-like” and presents a database of Pokémon to guess.

What a guess tells you

  • Generation: feedback indicates whether the guessed Pokémon comes from the correct generation.
  • Type: the result shows whether a type is correct and, through the page’s emoji key, whether the type information is in the correct position.
  • Height and weight: higher-or-lower indicators tell you which direction the hidden Pokémon lies relative to your guess.
  • Overall correctness: the emoji legend differentiates correct and incorrect fields, so a guess can be partly informative even when the species is wrong.

These clues reward combining categories. A generation match narrows the release group, a type match narrows the biological or thematic possibilities, and the directional height and weight signals help eliminate candidates that look plausible by type alone.

A disciplined way to make guesses

  1. Start with a Pokémon whose attributes you know. The first guess is most useful when you are confident about its generation, typing, height, and weight; an uncertain first guess can create misleading assumptions.
  2. Record every field, not just the type. Treat the result as four separate constraints. A wrong species may still reveal the correct generation or a useful numeric direction.
  3. Use the numeric arrows comparatively. “Higher” or “lower” is a relationship to the guess you made, not an absolute size category. After several guesses, the directions create a range for height and weight.
  4. Intersect the constraints before guessing again. Prefer a candidate that tests an unresolved field while remaining consistent with fields already confirmed.
  5. Verify the type-position signal. A type clue can mean more than “this Pokémon has that type”; the site’s key indicates when the type appears in the relevant position.

Squirdle is strongest for players who enjoy narrowing a database through mixed categorical and numeric evidence. It is less about remembering a single visual design and more about knowing how species differ in generation, typing, and physical measurements.

PokeDoku: a 3×3 category-and-intersection puzzle

PokeDoku changes the task completely. Instead of identifying one hidden species, you fill nine cells. Each cell is defined by the category at the left of its row and the category above its column, so a valid answer must belong to both categories.

The rules that matter

  • The board has three rows and three columns, for nine cells in total.
  • Every Pokémon entered must satisfy both the row and column criteria for that cell.
  • An answer can be used only once in the grid.
  • The game calculates a uniqueness score by adding the percentages associated with your answers. A lower score is better, because it means your choices were less commonly selected.

The site summarizes the constraint this way: “Each pick counts once, so think strategically to complete all 9 cells.” A technically valid grid can therefore produce a disappointing score if it relies on obvious, frequently chosen Pokémon.

How to work through the grid

  1. Read all six category labels first. Do not commit to the first easy-looking square. A category that appears in several intersections may be the limiting resource.
  2. Find high-confidence intersections. Fill a cell only when you can name a Pokémon that unquestionably belongs to both categories.
  3. Protect rare overlaps. If a Pokémon is one of very few answers for a particular intersection, reserve it for that cell rather than spending it where several alternatives exist.
  4. Track reuse mentally or on paper. A species that has already been entered is unavailable for every other cell, even if it fits another pair of categories.
  5. Optimize the score after completing the logic. When multiple answers work, choose the less obvious valid one if you know enough to do so. The objective is not merely finishing; it is finishing with a lower uniqueness total.

PokeDoku favors breadth. You need to recall species that fit categories such as a type, generation, region, game mechanic, or other classification presented by the daily board, then plan around the no-repeat rule. Someone with excellent single-Pokémon stat knowledge may still find the grid difficult if a category is outside their usual teams or generations.

Pokédle on Pokédoodle: eight formats in one daily set

The site at pokedoodle.com uses the Pokédle name for a collection rather than one repeated guessing mechanic. Its page lists eight small daily puzzles, and the same set is available to everyone until the local-midnight refresh.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The eight listed puzzle types

  • Draw from memory: recreate or identify a Pokémon using visual memory rather than a database attribute.
  • Fusion: identify a Pokémon created by combining recognizable elements of two species.
  • Silhouette: identify the species from its outline.
  • Cry: recognize the Pokémon from its sound.
  • Redacted Pokédex entry: infer the species from the remaining text when identifying details have been removed.
  • Base-stat comparison: use relative battle statistics to determine the answer.
  • Shiny lineup: recognize or distinguish shiny forms presented together.
  • Gym-team impostor: find the Pokémon that does not belong in a gym-team context.

This format is a test of switching cost as much as Pokémon knowledge. You may move from an audio clue to a text clue, then to a stat comparison and a team-recognition problem without carrying the same solving method from one puzzle to the next. The variety is the point: a player who struggles with cries may recover on silhouettes or Pokédex text.

The page also describes the game as free and playable without an account. That statement applies to this site’s published offering; it does not establish identical account or pricing policies for the other games in this comparison.

Pokédle.today: a separate site with selectable modes

Pokédle.today is not the same product as the Pokédle collection at Pokédoodle. Its page lists six modes:

  • Classic: the attribute-feedback hidden-Pokémon game.
  • Silhouette: identify the species from an outline.
  • Pixel: recognize a deliberately low-resolution image.
  • Cry: identify the Pokémon by its sound.
  • Description: use written clues or a description to identify the species.
  • Unlimited: continue playing outside the site’s daily-puzzle limit.

Pokédle.today states that its pool contains all 1,025 Pokémon from every generation; that is the site’s own page description, accessed in 2026, rather than an independently audited database count. Its daily reset is defined as 00:00 UTC worldwide, so the calendar date can change at a different local clock time from games that reset at local midnight.

Classic mode overlaps conceptually with Squirdle because both use attribute deduction, but the sites are separate and may present different interfaces, answer pools, and schedules. The Silhouette, Pixel, Cry, and Description modes shift the challenge toward recognition, while Unlimited is useful for practice rather than preserving a once-per-day scarcity.

Why the daily schedules are easy to confuse

The four products use three different timing conventions. Squirdle and Pokédle on Pokédoodle publish local-midnight resets; PokeDoku publishes midnight EST; Pokédle.today publishes 00:00 UTC. A player traveling, using a non-EST clock, or comparing results with friends in another region may therefore see different puzzle dates at the same moment.

Site Stated reset convention What it means in practice
Squirdle Local midnight Your next puzzle appears when your local date changes.
PokeDoku Midnight EST The published schedule is tied to Eastern Standard Time, not each player’s local midnight.
Pokédle on Pokédoodle Local midnight The site says its shared daily set changes at each player’s local midnight.
Pokédle.today 00:00 UTC worldwide Everyone receives the new daily puzzle at the same UTC instant.

These are site-published schedules and can be revised. If a puzzle appears early or late, check the game’s own page before assuming your device or account is at fault.

Which game is hardest?

No objective ranking is established by the published material. None of these pages supplies controlled completion rates, a common player sample, or a comparable difficulty study. “Hardest” depends on what you already know and how you prefer to solve.

If you are strongest at… Likely best fit Why
Comparing attributes and narrowing possibilities Squirdle Generation, type, height, and weight clues accumulate across guesses.
Remembering many categories and planning a board PokeDoku Every answer must satisfy two labels, cannot be reused, and affects the uniqueness score.
Visual and audio recognition Pokédle on Pokédoodle or Pokédle.today’s Silhouette, Pixel, and Cry modes The clue is an image, outline, pixel rendering, or sound rather than a list of attributes.
Text and statistical clues Pokédle on Pokédoodle or Pokédle.today’s Description mode Redacted entries, descriptions, and base-stat comparisons reward different recall skills.
Variety in one session Pokédle on Pokédoodle Eight formats require you to change solving methods repeatedly.

A qualitative roundup published by the Pokédle Team on August 26, 2026, describes Squirdle as the stronger pure-deduction option and PokeDoku as the stronger recall test. Treat that as an editorial opinion, not independent measurement: the publisher discloses that it builds one of the games it discusses. Read the roundup at pokedoodle.com/blog/pokemon-wordle-games-roundup for its own framing.

A fairer difficulty framework

When comparing your own experience, use four questions instead of a universal ranking:

  1. How much information does each attempt provide? Squirdle exposes several attribute relationships; a silhouette or cry may provide one recognition challenge with no numeric range.
  2. How constrained is the answer? PokeDoku requires simultaneous row-and-column membership and forbids reuse, while a recognition mode may allow many plausible guesses until one visual detail clicks.
  3. How broad is the required knowledge? A player familiar with competitive stats may excel at one format but not know obscure category overlaps or every cry.
  4. How much switching is required? Eight unrelated mini-puzzles can feel harder because the solving method changes, even when each individual clue is short.

Choosing your first game

Use this decision path:

  1. Want one hidden Pokémon and feedback after each guess? Start with Squirdle, or choose Classic on Pokédle.today.
  2. Prefer a board with multiple simultaneous answers? Choose PokeDoku and focus on category intersections.
  3. Want a short set that tests many kinds of recognition? Try Pokédle on Pokédoodle.
  4. Want to select a specific clue style or practice repeatedly? Use Pokédle.today’s named modes, including Unlimited.
  5. Sharing results with friends? Include the site name or URL. “Pokédle” alone is ambiguous, and reset conventions differ.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them

  • Treating the brand name as a rule set: confirm the URL before applying advice from another game.
  • Assuming every reset is local midnight: check whether the site uses EST or UTC.
  • Calling a valid PokeDoku grid optimal: validity fills the board; the uniqueness score rewards less-common answers.
  • Reading a numeric clue as an absolute rating: in Squirdle, higher/lower feedback is relative to your guess.
  • Expecting one Pokémon skill to transfer everywhere: cries, silhouettes, text, stats, and category recall test different abilities.
  • Repeating a PokeDoku answer: each species can be used only once, even when it fits another intersection.
  • Comparing scores from different Pokédle sites: separate sites can have different answer pools, modes, and dates.

For a quick, attribute-driven deduction session, pick Squirdle. For a strategic nine-cell board, pick PokeDoku. For variety, use one of the two clearly identified Pokédle sites rather than assuming the shared name means shared rules.
