A report published by VICE on October 3, 2026, says purported beta dialogue for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves describes a region of around 100 islands and a battle gimmick called Majinization. Those details are unverified leak claims, not confirmed features. The Pokémon Company has confirmed the games’ Nintendo Switch 2 platform, planned 2027 worldwide release, open island-and-ocean setting, and first partner Pokémon—but not the island count or Majinization.
What the Winds and Waves leak reportedly reveals
VICE attributes the claims to beta dialogue that surfaced online. The report says the purported text may come from a 2023–2024 build, and the files have not been authenticated in the sources reviewed. The details could have changed before release.

A region of around 100 islands
The alleged dialogue describes a region with around 100 islands and a culture shaped by 3,000 years of history. A Reddit post dated October 2, 2026, reproduces purported introductory text containing both figures, but a user-posted excerpt does not establish that the text is genuine or that these numbers will appear in the finished games. According to VICE, the text names a battle mechanic called Majinization, apparently activated with an item called the Majinize Band obtained at a Majinize Research Lab. The reported excerpts do not explain what the mechanic does, what advantages it offers, or how it changes a battle. They reportedly suggest Gym Leaders use it and connect it to a tour focused on exploring Pokémon’s “new potential.” These points remain unverified. Read VICE’s report.

Three reported campaign tours
The purported introduction outlines three tours: a League Tour for Gym challenges and the goal of becoming a Master; a Legend Tour to pursue legends and uncover mysteries; and a Majinize Tour to learn about Majinization. The report says the text does not explain whether players can tackle them in any order or how the routes connect.
A possible companion called Konetsu
The report says a Pokémon named Konetsu may accompany the player. The available excerpts do not establish its appearance, typing, or whether it is a box-art Legendary. The Pokémon Company’s announcement does not name it.

Is Majinization confirmed?
No. Majinization appears only in the alleged beta dialogue described by VICE; it is absent from the official announcement. Until The Pokémon Company confirms it, the name, item, lab, and claimed Gym Leader use should be treated as leak details rather than an announced game feature.

On February 27, 2026, The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves as upcoming games exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2, with simultaneous worldwide release planned for 2027. The official description confirms an open world of windswept islands and a vast ocean, where local Pokémon have developed unique ecosystems. It does not give an island count or a regional-history figure. See the official game announcement.

- Embark on an independent study called the Treasure Hunt to gain new experiences, meet new people, and find your very own treasure.
Confirmed first partners and special Pikachu
- Browt is the Grass-type Bean Chick Pokémon.
- Pombon is the Fire-type Puppy Pokémon.
- Gecqua is the Water-type Water Gecko Pokémon.
- Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu are special Pikachu shown in the announcement. Their role in the adventure is still to be explained.
The announcement confirms the setting and these characters, but it does not corroborate the alleged 100-island count, Majinization, Konetsu, or the three-tour campaign. The Pokémon Company’s February 27, 2026 press release also covers the announcement and first partners.

The strongest distinction is between the official premise and the unverified specifics. An island-and-ocean open world is announced; an exact count of around 100 islands, 3,000 years of history, Majinization, Konetsu, and three campaign tours come from purported dialogue that VICE says may be from an earlier development build. None is confirmed by the official sources reviewed. No verified details yet explain how Majinization would work or how the reported tours would fit together.
