A rumor reported online pairs Pokémon Winds with a Garuda-inspired legendary and Pokémon Waves with a Naga-like mermaid legendary. Neither has been confirmed by official Pokémon material reviewed: The Pokémon Company’s announcement does not name or show the games’ box legendaries. Treat the alleged inspirations as unverified, not as a confirmed leak or a disproven claim.
What the rumor says
July 2026 coverage attributes the claim to an X post by Light (@Light_88_) dated June 30. La Razón reported on July 2 that the post described a Garuda-inspired legendary for Winds and a Naga-like mermaid legendary for Waves, characterizing the material as a potential leak. Ei Nerd reported the alleged pair on July 1 and cautioned that Nintendo and Game Freak had not officially confirmed the images.

Those reports describe the same attributed social-media claim; they are not independent confirmation that the designs are genuine. The reports support only the broad alleged inspirations. They do not establish names, types, abilities, detailed designs, or story roles for either Pokémon.

What is officially confirmed about Winds and Waves
The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves as new entries in the video game series, exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 and scheduled for a simultaneous worldwide release in 2027. Its announcement describes an open world of windswept islands and a vast ocean, with local ecosystems and natural forces that can sometimes block the player’s path. Player outfits differ between versions.
#1 Best Overall
The announced first partner Pokémon are Browt (Grass), Pombon (Fire), and Gecqua (Water). The announcement also shows special Pikachu called Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, while saying to look forward to future information about their role.
Why the setting does not verify the alleged designs
The confirmed island-and-ocean setting may make the rumor sound plausible, but it does not authenticate it. The official announcement reviewed does not name or show the box legendaries, or confirm their designs, types, or inspirations. The careful conclusion is that the Garuda and Naga descriptions are unconfirmed—not that they are false.
