The two newly revealed designs are special Pikachu named Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu. They were introduced alongside Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, but The Pokémon Company has not confirmed what role they will play in either game.
Who are the two new Pokémon designs?
They are Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, presented on the official Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves announcement page as special Pikachu. The announcement identifies them by name but does not describe their visual differences, assign them types or abilities, or say whether they have distinct battle mechanics.

Are they part of Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves?
Their reveal is tied to the games, and the official page asks how the Pikachu might be involved in an adventure. That wording poses a question rather than confirming a story or gameplay role. The page says to look forward to future announcements, so their place in the games remains unconfirmed.
When and where are the games coming out?
Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are announced as all-new role-playing games, exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, with a simultaneous worldwide release planned for 2027. They are not currently available. The Pokémon Company International’s Pokémon Day 2026 roundup, published February 27, 2026, also introduced the pair of special Pikachu designs.
