A POCO handset with model number 2609CPC5FG has reportedly received approval from Singapore’s IMDA, prompting speculation that it is the upcoming POCO X8s. One report also suggests a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, but POCO has not confirmed the phone’s identity, processor, specifications, or launch date.
What the reported certification does—and does not—confirm
An October 13, 2026 report by Xpertpick says Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) approved a POCO handset carrying model number 2609CPC5FG. The outlet associates that model with the POCO X8s, but the IMDA record was not directly inspected for this report, and an approval listing by itself does not establish the phone’s final retail name or full specifications.

Earlier certification-related coverage linked global model 2609CPC5FG to Chinese-market model M583CF, which was expected to use Redmi branding in China and POCO branding internationally. ANTARA reported those model associations and camera details, while noting that technical information was incomplete. These remain media-reported identifications rather than a POCO announcement.
Is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 confirmed?
No. Xpertpick’s October 13 report raises the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 as a possibility, but it does not cite an official POCO specification confirmation. In a September 24 report, Canaltech said the chipset was not known. Until POCO publishes specifications or stronger evidence emerges, treat the Snapdragon claim as unverified—not as a confirmed feature.

What specifications have been reported?
The only specific hardware detail in the reviewed coverage is a camera claim attributed to certification-related information. ANTARA reported a 50-megapixel main camera and 0.6x, 1x, and 2.5x capture options. These details have not been independently verified. A 2.5x shooting mode does not, on its own, prove the phone has a dedicated telephoto lens; it could involve cropping or another implementation.
Other core details remain undisclosed in the reviewed reports: display, battery capacity, charging, memory configurations, price, and complete camera specifications. Canaltech specifically listed the chipset, battery, charging, display, memory, price, and Brazilian availability as unknown in its September 24 coverage. There is not enough confirmed information to compare the X8s reliably with other phones in the X8 family or make a buying recommendation.

When could the POCO X8s launch?
No official launch date or event has been announced in the reviewed reporting. A September 26 article by Memeburn estimated that an announcement might come between late October and November 2026, based on its interpretation of the model code and certification activity. It presented that window as its own estimate and said Xiaomi had not scheduled an event. “Launch imminent” is therefore a headline characterization, not a confirmed timetable.

Which countries are expected to get it?
ANTARA reported that the handset was expected to appear in China under Redmi branding and in global markets under POCO, with Europe, Russia, Turkey, and other markets named as possibilities. That is an expectation reported by the outlet, not a confirmed country-by-country release plan. The reviewed sources do not establish a sales date, price, or current retail listing for any market, including Brazil.

What to check before deciding whether to buy
Wait for an official product announcement and local listing before treating the reported name, chipset, camera, or release window as settled. When full specifications are available, the most useful comparison points will be the confirmed processor, local price and availability, battery and charging, display, and whether the 2.5x camera option is optical or digital. No hands-on testing or performance benchmark is available in the reporting covered here.
