Their prices depend on market, storage, seller and stock: an Indian listing snapshot showed a ₹1,000 difference, but the POCO listing was out of stock. There is no single global price gap.

How their performance claims compare
Chipset specifications
POCO lists a Dimensity 9500s, while TECNO lists a Dimensity 7400 Ultimate. Those model names indicate POCO is positioning its phone with the higher-tier chip, but the specifications alone do not tell you how either handset performs in every game, app or sustained workload.

Published benchmark figures
POCO’s launch page states an AnTuTu score of 3,085,998. That is POCO’s own published figure, not an independent result. Separately, 91mobiles reports Geekbench multi-core scores of 8,483 for the POCO and 3,200 for the TECNO. Those are that publisher’s test figures; they are not tests conducted for this article, and no matching independent hands-on TECNO test was established for this comparison.

Display: refresh rate or a slightly larger panel?
TECNO lists the higher maximum refresh rate: up to 144Hz versus 120Hz for POCO. A higher refresh rate can make supported motion appear smoother, but it does not guarantee that every app or game runs at that rate. The TECNO product page’s advertised PUBG MOBILE 144FPS mode is conditional on a future major game update, rather than a claim that the mode is available now in every region or build; see TECNO’s product page.
POCO’s listed screen is slightly larger diagonally at 6.83 inches, compared with TECNO’s 6.78 inches. TECNO publishes a 2644 × 1208 resolution; POCO describes its panel as 1.5K. These figures do not by themselves establish which screen looks better in person.

Battery capacity and charging
POCO lists an 8,500mAh battery and 100W wired charging; TECNO lists 6,500mAh and 45W. The capacity figures favor POCO on paper, but battery life also depends on display settings, network conditions, software and workload, so capacity alone is not a measured endurance result.

Confirm the charging specification for the exact regional variant. TechRadar says its reviewed POCO package included a cable but no wall plug, so check local box contents before buying.

Cameras: the listed hardware and what it cannot tell you
Both phones list a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide. TECNO specifically identifies optical image stabilization (OIS) on the main camera; the POCO figures reported by TechRadar do not establish OIS. POCO’s listed front camera is 20MP, compared with TECNO’s 13MP.
These specifications do not settle photo or video quality. Sensor, lens, stabilization implementation, processing and shooting conditions all matter, and megapixel counts alone are not a reliable camera verdict.

Software and support periods
TechRadar reports Android 16 with HyperOS 3 on POCO and a commitment of four OS-version years plus six security years. TECNO identifies Android 16-based HiOS 16, while 91mobiles lists two OS-version years and three security years for the POVA. These support-period figures come from different publishers and should be checked against the maker’s commitment for the version sold in your country before purchase.
Price difference: the market and listing matter
For India, 91mobiles showed a POCO X8 Pro Max listing at ₹48,999 and a TECNO POVA 8 Pro listing through Flipkart at ₹49,999. That snapshot puts the TECNO ₹1,000 higher, but the POCO page showed the handset out of stock. The figures do not establish a currently purchasable, same-seller, same-storage comparison; check live local listings and configuration before treating them as a price difference you can act on.
For context, TechRadar’s POCO review reported reference prices of $469/£469 for 256GB and $519/£519 for 512GB. These are POCO prices in the review, not a like-for-like price comparison with TECNO and not a guarantee of current retail pricing. POCO’s official page notes market-dependent availability. Do not convert these figures into a universal ranking: currency, taxes, promotions, storage and stock vary.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose POCO if your priorities are
- The listed Dimensity 9500s chipset and the higher published benchmark figures, with the caveat that the available benchmark results are publisher or manufacturer claims.
- A larger stated battery capacity and faster listed wired charging.
- A slightly larger display and the longer support period reported by TechRadar, after confirming local support terms.
Choose TECNO if your priorities are
- A display with a higher listed maximum refresh rate, provided your apps or games support it.
- A main camera whose official specification explicitly lists OIS.
- A current local offer that beats the POCO’s available price for the storage and seller you want.
Compare the exact model variant, storage, retailer, warranty and in-stock price in your country before deciding. The available evidence supports a trade-off, not a universal winner.
