The X8 Pro Max lists a larger typical battery; the F9 Ultra adds wireless charging and a higher-refresh display. Those specifications help clarify the trade-offs, but they do not establish which phone performs better in everyday use.
POCO X8 Pro Max vs POCO F9 Ultra: key specifications
| Specification | POCO X8 Pro Max | POCO F9 Ultra |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | MediaTek Dimensity 9500s (POCO global specifications) | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (POCO F9 Series launch page) |

| Typical battery capacity | 8500mAh | 8050mAh; the launch page says this capacity is exclusive to the Ultra |
| Charging | 100W HyperCharge; wireless charging not stated on the cited specifications page | 100W wired and 50W wireless HyperCharge |
| Rear cameras | 50MP Light Fusion 600 main camera with OIS and 8MP ultrawide (POCO UK specifications) | Not stated on the cited F9 Series launch page |
| Audio | Not stated in the cited specifications | Bose-branded symmetrical stereo speakers and an independent subwoofer; the subwoofer is listed as exclusive to the Ultra |
| Dust and water resistance | IP68, subject to the conditions stated by POCO | Not stated on the cited F9 Series launch page |
The X8 Pro Max’s global specifications and the F9 Ultra’s launch page are not equally detailed. Missing F9 camera, dimensions, storage, and network-band details should not be read as proof that a feature is absent; confirm them on the product page for your country. Regional configurations and box contents can also differ.

What the spec differences mean
Display and chipset
The F9 Ultra has the higher listed refresh rate: up to 185Hz, compared with up to 120Hz on the X8 Pro Max. A refresh-rate figure describes the display’s maximum refresh capability, not a guarantee that every app or game will run at that rate. The available launch information does not establish comparable display size or resolution for the F9 Ultra.
The processor names identify different platforms, but names alone do not prove which phone is faster in a particular workload. POCO reports an AnTuTu score of 3,085,998 for the X8 Pro Max using AnTuTu V11.0.5 and 4,165,108 for the F9 Ultra using AnTuTu Benchmark V11.1.1. Both figures are from POCO Internal Labs testing around 25°C, and POCO says actual results may vary. Because the listed benchmark versions differ and these are vendor-reported results, they are not a controlled head-to-head comparison.

Battery and charging
The X8 Pro Max lists the larger typical battery capacity: 8500mAh versus 8050mAh for the F9 Ultra. Capacity alone does not determine how long a phone lasts between charges; the cited specifications do not provide an independent, comparable battery-life test.
Both list 100W wired charging. The F9 Ultra also lists 50W wireless charging, a specific convenience advantage in its published specifications. Charging speed in practice can depend on the adapter, cable, temperature, and other conditions; check the local product information for what is included.

Cameras, audio and durability
POCO’s UK X8 Pro Max page specifies a 50MP Light Fusion 600 main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), plus an 8MP ultrawide camera. The cited F9 launch page does not provide camera details, so the available evidence does not support a camera-quality verdict between these phones.

The F9 Ultra’s listed audio hardware is more distinctive on paper: Bose-branded symmetrical stereo speakers and an independent subwoofer. POCO says the independent subwoofer is exclusive to the Ultra. The X8 Pro Max’s UK page, meanwhile, lists an IP68 rating; POCO’s rating is subject to stated laboratory conditions and should not be treated as a promise of protection in every real-world situation.

Official benchmark figures: why they are not a direct ranking
| Phone | POCO-reported score | Benchmark and conditions stated by POCO |
|---|---|---|
| POCO X8 Pro Max | 3,085,998 | AnTuTu V11.0.5; POCO Internal Labs; around 25°C |
| POCO F9 Ultra | 4,165,108 | AnTuTu Benchmark V11.1.1; POCO Internal Labs; around 25°C |
POCO does not state a separate test date for either score on the cited pages. Since the benchmark versions differ, the figures should not be used to calculate a reliable performance gap. They also do not substitute for independent testing of sustained performance, heat, gaming, or everyday responsiveness.

| Model | Starting price shown |

| POCO F9 Ultra | €1,099.99 |

These are regional storefront starting prices, not a worldwide MSRP or a guaranteed current checkout price. The listings do not establish that the starting configurations have matching storage, and promotions or availability can change. For a useful local comparison, check both phones in the same country and compare the same storage tier at the time you buy. Xiaomi’s Spain storefront is the source for this dated price snapshot; the broader POCO catalog links to regional product information.
Which POCO should you choose?
- Consider the X8 Pro Max if its listed 8500mAh battery, 6.83-inch 120Hz display, specified main and ultrawide cameras, and UK-listed IP68 rating suit your priorities. Its official Spain starting price was much lower in the dated snapshot, but check your local store and configuration.
- Consider the F9 Ultra if its listed 185Hz display, 50W wireless charging, or Bose-branded speaker system with an independent subwoofer matters more to you. The available launch-page information does not settle its camera comparison, complete specifications, or real-world performance against the X8 Pro Max.
For either model, confirm the exact regional specification sheet before purchase. The UK X8 Pro Max page says its box does not include a power adapter and recommends an official Xiaomi adapter rated at 100W or higher; that is a UK-specific box-content statement, not a rule for every market.
