Which phone has better performance?
The POCO X7 Pro has the more capable-looking platform on paper: Xiaomi lists a Dimensity 8400-Ultra processor with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage. Xiaomi UK lists the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G with a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and LPDDR4X/UFS 3.1 for its 256 GB and 512 GB versions. That makes the POCO the more compelling specification-led choice for demanding apps, gaming or buyers who value faster storage.

Battery, charging and the charger in the box
The Redmi has the larger stated battery: Xiaomi lists 8340 mAh typical, compared with 6000 mAh typical for the POCO. Capacity alone does not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use; screen brightness, network conditions, software and usage all affect endurance, and no direct battery test is available here.
The POCO is rated for 90 W charging, versus 67 W for the Redmi. Xiaomi’s global POCO package list includes a charger. On Xiaomi UK’s Redmi page, the power adapter is not included; Xiaomi Mexico lists a 67 W charger in the box. Check the exact local product listing before buying, since accessories vary by market.

Screen size and cameras
Both phones have a 1.5K AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The Redmi’s listed panel is larger at 6.83 inches, compared with 6.67 inches on the POCO, which may suit buyers who prefer more viewing area for video, reading or games.
On the rear, each phone lists a 50 MP optical-image-stabilized main camera and an 8 MP ultrawide camera. Their published video specifications differ: Xiaomi lists up to 4K at 60 fps for the POCO, while Xiaomi UK lists up to 1080p at 30 fps for the Redmi. This is a difference in listed video capability, not evidence that one phone takes better photographs; no comparative image-quality test is established.

Durability ratings depend on the Redmi market
Xiaomi UK lists IP66/IP68 for the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G, while Xiaomi Mexico lists IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K. Xiaomi’s stated ratings and their test conditions apply to the relevant regional specification; they should not be generalized to every market or treated as a guarantee that the phone is waterproof. The captured global POCO specifications page does not state an equivalent rating, which does not prove that every regional POCO version lacks one. Verify the rating for the exact local model.
What is the price difference?
The available UK figures are from different dates and do not compare matching memory configurations, so they are not a reliable measure of today’s price gap.
