Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Set an explicit, wide CSS-pixel viewport before navigating. If the missing content is below the fold, enable fullPage instead; that option captures more vertical content but does not widen the page layout. Viewport size, full-page extent, clipping, and pixel scale solve different problems, so match the setting to what is actually cut off.
Set the viewport to the width your test should cover
Playwright’s viewport controls the CSS layout dimensions the page sees. Configure it in the test or browser context before navigation so the site can choose its responsive layout at the intended width. The dimensions below are an example, not a universal ultra-wide standard: use the width and height your test is meant to exercise.

Playwright Test configuration
import { test } from '@playwright/test';
test.use({
viewport: { width: 2560, height: 1080 },
});
test('wide layout screenshot', async ({ page }) => {
await page.goto('https://example.com');
await page.screenshot({ path: 'wide.png' });
});
Browser context setup
const context = await browser.newContext({
viewport: { width: 2560, height: 1080 },
});
const page = await context.newPage();
await page.goto('https://example.com');
await page.screenshot({ path: 'wide.png' });
For a one-off adjustment, call page.setViewportSize({ width, height }). The Playwright Page API advises setting the dimensions before navigation when a site may respond to its initial viewport. It also notes that this method resets the screen size; use a browser context when you need finer control over both screen and viewport. See the Page API and emulation guide.
Choose the capture setting that matches the cut-off
A wider viewport changes the page’s responsive layout; it does not automatically capture content below the visible area. Use the option that corresponds to the symptom:
#1 Best Overall
- DO MORE ON ONE SCREEN: See every detail on the wider display featuring a 21:9 aspect ratio; Ultra WQHD provides the simplest way to maximize screen real estate and experience truly seamless multitasking on just one screen.Brightness (Typical) : 300 cd/㎡. Static Contrast Ratio 3000:1.
- ENJOY A BILLION COLORS W/ INCREDIBLE DEPTH: With HDR10 that displays over 1 billion colors compared to 16.7 million for typical SDR technology, dark colors are darker and the brightest are even brighter; Content is experienced as the creator intended
- CARE FOR YOUR EYES DAY and NIGHT: An ambient light sensor on the monitor detects lighting in your workstation and automatically adjusts brightness; Eye Saver Mode minimizes excessive blue light, and Flicker Free relieves eye strain
- SEE CONTENT SMOOTHER, EVEN GAMING: A faster than average refresh rate updates the image on screen more often every second; 100Hz refresh rate reduces lag and motion blur when playing games, watching videos, or working on design projects
- STAY IN SYNC WITH THE ACTION: AMD Radeon FreeSync keeps the refresh rate of your monitor and graphics card in sync to reduce image tearing for a superfluid entertainment experience; Watch movies and play games without interruptions
| Setting | What it changes | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Explicit context or test viewport | CSS layout width and height | The page renders at the wrong responsive breakpoint or width. |
fullPage: true |
Vertical capture extent | Content below the current viewport is missing. It captures the full scrollable page but does not change layout width. |
clip |
The output rectangle, specified by x, y, width, and height |
You need a defined region rather than the whole viewport. |
scale: 'css' or 'device' |
Output pixel density | The layout looks right but raster dimensions or file size are unexpected. |
Context screen and viewport |
Screen and viewport values independently | The application depends on both values. |
Capture the whole scrollable page
await page.screenshot({ path: 'full-page.png', fullPage: true });
By default, page.screenshot() captures the current viewport. The Page API describes fullPage as capturing the full scrollable page instead of the currently visible viewport. Expect a taller image; this option does not fix a narrow responsive layout.
Control output pixel density
await page.screenshot({ path: 'wide-css-pixels.png', scale: 'css' });
With scale: 'css', the Page API specifies one image pixel per CSS pixel. scale: 'device' uses one image pixel per device pixel and can produce images twice as large or larger on high-DPI setups. The Page API documents device as its default for this screenshot method; check the documentation for the specific API you use, because screenshot assertion APIs can have a different default.

- Easy connectivity: Keep your desk organized and clutter-free with a single USB-C cable (up to 65W power delivery).
Check for clipping inside the page itself
If the configured viewport is correct but content is still cut off horizontally within the rendered page, the screenshot boundary may not be the cause. Inspect the application’s horizontal overflow, fixed-width containers, and CSS breakpoints at that viewport. The capture settings alone cannot identify an app-specific CSS problem.
For a useful diagnosis, record the configured viewport, window.innerWidth, document scroll width, browser and project, Playwright version, and the resulting screenshot. These details help distinguish a viewport mismatch from page CSS or an environment-specific rendering issue.

Keep visual comparisons reproducible
Screenshot baselines can vary with host OS, browser version, settings, hardware, power source, headless mode, and other factors. Playwright’s visual comparisons guide recommends generating and comparing baselines in the same environment. Keep the browser/runtime and capture settings consistent when investigating a change.
Troubleshoot a screenshot that is still cut off
- The page uses a narrow layout: Set the intended
viewportin the context or test configuration beforepage.goto(). Check that the resultingwindow.innerWidthmatches the expected CSS-pixel width. - Content below the fold is absent: Add
fullPage: true. Increasing viewport height is not the same as capturing the entire scrollable document. - The image dimensions are unexpectedly large: Check
scaleand whether you want CSS-pixel or device-pixel output. Confirm the default for the particular screenshot method. - The app uses an unexpected screen size: Configure
screenandviewporttogether inbrowser.newContext();page.setViewportSize()resets screen size. - Only a section should appear: Use a
cliprectangle and verify its coordinates and dimensions against the page. - Explicit dimensions do not resolve horizontal clipping: Inspect the page’s own overflow and fixed-width CSS, then collect the viewport, inner width, document scroll width, browser/project, Playwright version, and screenshot before attributing a cause.
- Visual output changes between runs: Compare captures in a consistent browser and host environment, since rendering can vary across environments.
Option details can vary by installed Playwright version; check the official Page API for the version and method in use.

Or skip the browser setup
For an API-based capture instead of configuring a local Playwright browser, ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL and returns an image or PDF. Its consent, popup, and chat cleanup can be turned off when needed. Only clean shots are billed: bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. It also offers an MCP server for AI agents, with tools for screenshots, page information, and PDF capture.
