PlayStation Direct’s U.S. catalog listed the PULSE Explore wireless earbuds at $149.00 on October 12, 2026. That is $50.99 below the $199.99 U.S. recommended price announced in 2023, but the comparison does not establish that $149 is the earbuds’ best price ever. The earbuds work with PS5, yet PlayStation has not said they are required for GTA VI or specially tuned for the game.
Is $149 a good deal on PULSE Explore?
At the time PlayStation Direct’s U.S. catalog was checked on October 12, 2026, it listed PULSE Explore for $149.00. The catalog price can change, and a current listing alone cannot show whether the earbuds have sold for less before. PlayStation’s original U.S. recommended price announcement in 2023 was $199.99, making the difference $50.99 between those two stated prices—not proof of an all-time low.

What do PULSE Explore offer for PS5?
PlayStation describes PULSE Explore as in-ear wireless earbuds with planar magnetic drivers, PlayStation Link wireless, AI-enhanced microphone noise rejection, and multi-device connectivity. These are manufacturer-stated features, not independent listening or microphone test results. The product page advertises up to five hours of use from the earbuds, with up to ten additional hours available from the charging case; actual battery life can vary with use.

They are compatible with PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, Mac, and mobile devices. The package includes a PlayStation Link USB adapter, charging case, eight differently sized ear tips, USB cable, and manual.
How do the earbuds connect to a PS5 and a phone?
For PlayStation Link use with PS5, Sony says to use the included USB adapter. The earbuds can also connect to a PlayStation Link device and a Bluetooth device at the same time—for example, a PS5 connection alongside a phone connection. The adapter is included, so it is not an essential extra purchase with this set.

Will PULSE Explore improve GTA VI audio?
GTA VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, and Rockstar lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as platforms. PlayStation says the PS5 version will use console features including Tempest 3D AudioTech, DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers, and the console SSD. Its statement that GTA VI will “play best on PS5” is a platform-level promotional claim; it does not identify PULSE Explore as necessary or promise a headset-specific advantage.
Because the earbuds are PS5-compatible, they are one way to listen while playing on that console. The cited product and game information does not establish a GTA VI-specific tuning, exclusive audio feature, or benefit over other compatible audio options.

Who should consider buying them?
PULSE Explore may suit someone who specifically wants an in-ear form factor, PlayStation Link support, and the option to connect to a phone over Bluetooth at the same time. Consider whether earbuds fit your preferences, whether you need the advertised battery duration, and whether the included range of tip sizes works for you. If you prefer over-ear headphones or want to compare sound quality, comfort, or microphone performance, the available specifications alone do not establish which option is better.
For a GTA VI purchase decision, separate the game’s PS5 features from the earbuds: the game is listed for PS5, and the earbuds are compatible with PS5, but no special pairing or required accessory relationship has been announced.
