How to claim PlayStation Plus monthly games
PlayStation adds new monthly games each calendar month. Claim a game while it is part of that month’s offer; once its offer period has passed, you should not assume it can still be added as a monthly game. The exact offer window varies, so check the current PlayStation Plus page for your account region.

On PS5
- From the Games home screen, select PlayStation Plus.
- Open Benefits, then choose Monthly Games.
- Select the game and choose Download.
On PS4
- Open PlayStation Plus from the function screen.
- Choose Monthly Games.
- Select the game and choose Add to Library. Download it now or later.

What adding a game to your library means
Monthly games are included with PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium. Adding one to your library records your eligibility to access it through the service; it does not give you ownership independent of a subscription. PlayStation says monthly games can be added to the library and played while you have an active membership. PlayStation’s games FAQ and US plan information describe the benefit.

If your membership expires, a previously claimed monthly game becomes unavailable. If you later resume membership, access to eligible monthly games you claimed may return.
Canceling auto-renewal is not the same as losing access
There are two separate events: you can cancel future renewal, and later your already-paid subscription period ends. Turning off renewal does not itself remove monthly-game access. Benefits continue through the paid period; the cutoff comes when that period ends. PlayStation’s UK cancellation guide says benefits continue until the end of the purchased payment period and that monthly games and other benefits are lost once the subscription ends. Local subscription terms may differ, so consult the PlayStation support page for your account region.

Monthly games and the Game Catalog are different
Monthly games are a recurring claimable benefit across all three membership tiers. The Game Catalog is an additional library available with Extra and Premium, while Premium also includes the Classics Catalog and game trials. Catalog games are not monthly games: some have announced dates when they leave the service, and access can end on that date even if your membership remains active.

There is an additional catalog-related wrinkle: DLC or add-ons purchased for a catalog game may become unavailable if your membership expires or the base game leaves the service. PlayStation says that purchased DLC can be used again if you resume service or buy the base game. Check the PlayStation games FAQ for its explanation of catalog access and add-ons.

Can a PlayStation Plus voucher restore access?
A PlayStation Plus membership voucher can provide membership time, but the conversion depends on your account’s status and tier. According to the US PlayStation Plus plan FAQ, a voucher redeemed with no active membership provides Essential for the duration printed on the voucher. For an existing subscriber, its value converts into time on the current tier; the official examples show that a nominal voucher length can yield less time on a higher tier.
Check the voucher’s terms and your account’s membership status before redeeming, and check the terms for your account region. Do not assume a voucher will convert to the same duration for every tier or account.
