No new Bayonetta game for Nintendo Switch 2 has been announced. The current connection is a crossover: Stellar Blade Complete Edition was planned for Switch 2 with four Bayonetta costumes, while comments from PlatinumGames and Shift Up executives point only to interest in working together again.
What PlatinumGames said about Bayonetta’s future
In a Famitsu interview published September 20, 2026, Shift Up CEO and Stellar Blade director Hyung-tae Kim said he would be willing to help design characters for a future Bayonetta entry. PlatinumGames president and studio head Atsushi Inaba welcomed the possibility of another collaboration, according to GamesRadar’s summary of the interview. Famitsu’s interview and GamesRadar’s report describe enthusiasm and openness—not a confirmed project.

Neither comment confirms that Bayonetta 4 is in development, that it is coming to Switch 2, or that a release window or development team exists. A headline may frame Kim’s offer around “Bayonetta 4,” but an offer to contribute is not an announcement that the game is greenlit.

What the Switch 2 connection is
Famitsu reported that Stellar Blade Complete Edition was planned for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 6, 2026, and would include four Bayonetta collaboration costumes. That is a reported plan and a product detail for Stellar Blade; it does not make the game a Bayonetta installment. Check current release information, since plans can change after publication.

Why older Bayonetta comments are not new project news
In a March 18, 2023 report, Nintendo Everything quoted Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya saying, in its English translation, “If I just come out and say it openly, we want to make this title part of a new series, and keep expanding the world.” The same report quoted Nintendo producer Makoto Okazaki: “So there’s certainly nothing concrete we can say at this point, but personally at least, I don’t think this is the end.” Those were tentative remarks made after Bayonetta Origins, not confirmation of present-day plans. Nintendo Everything’s report credits the translations.
PlatinumGames’ official blog said in December 2017 that “Bayonetta’s story will continue on the Nintendo Switch with the highly-anticipated Bayonetta 3!” That statement referred to the original Switch-era releases, including Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3; it is not evidence of a Switch 2 port. The studio’s announcement is historical platform context, not a current compatibility notice.

What to check before buying
If you want to play the existing series, the cited coverage establishes that the games, including Bayonetta Origins, were available on Switch as of March 2023. It does not establish current retailer stock, which editions are available in your region, or Switch 2 compatibility. Check the specific game’s current regional store or packaging details before purchasing. For the same reason, verify that Stellar Blade Complete Edition has actually been released and that its listing includes the announced crossover content before buying it for those costumes.
