Planet Zoo has 38 Global Achievements on Steam. The objectives cover career medals, Franchise research and education, animal care and genetics, conservation releases, zoo geography, construction distances and cumulative breeding. Console Edition uses a separate trophy list, so use the checklist for your platform and verify the wording shown in the current in-game or console interface before marking an item complete.
Choose the correct checklist first
Planet Zoo is not using one universal achievement list. Steam displays a list of 38 Global Achievements. Frontier’s Console Edition has its own trophy list, including a “Chief Curator” trophy for unlocking all PlayStation trophies. Names, mode labels and the way career completion is described can differ, so a Steam completion guide should not be treated as a complete console list.

PlayStation describes four Console Edition modes: Career, Franchise, Challenge and Sandbox. When an objective names a mode, do it in that mode; completing an equivalent action elsewhere may not count.

Steam checklist: introductory and first-action achievements
These are useful early targets because they teach the interface and do not require a mature zoo. Tick them from the Steam achievement panel rather than relying on a third-party order.

Animal Rating is separate from Education Rating. A five-star Animal Rating asks for a strong overall animal-care result, while the education objective later in the list specifically requires a Franchise zoo and a five-star Education Rating.
Career medals and difficulty standards
Career completion is tracked by medal standard, not simply by reaching the final scenario. The Steam list includes achievements for earning bronze, silver and gold Career awards, then for completing all Career levels at each standard on Hard. The descriptions refer to the complete Career set, so one excellent scenario does not substitute for the required result across the campaign.

How to make the career goals manageable
- Finish each scenario’s required tasks before spending heavily on optional decoration. Financial penalties and poor welfare can lower the final result.
- Keep a save before the last objective. If a medal is missed, you can improve the weak category without replaying the entire campaign.
- For Hard, treat cash flow, staff workload and animal welfare as linked systems. A cheap, well-zoned layout is safer than an ambitious build that creates recurring costs.
- Use the scenario result screen to confirm the medal before moving on. The global achievement can require every original Career level, not only the scenarios you personally find difficult.
Franchise mode, research and education
Several objectives explicitly require Franchise mode. Start a Franchise zoo early so research and education progress can run while you work on breeding and construction totals.

Research route
- Open a Franchise zoo and hire the staff needed to operate it.
- Adopt an animal whose species research you can support with a working Research Centre and an assigned veterinary researcher.
- Keep the research assignment active until the species reaches the required completed state. The achievement wording is “Complete the research on one animal in Franchise mode”; a partially researched species is not completion.
- Check the Franchise research screen and Steam’s achievement panel before changing zoos.
Education route
Use education speakers, boards and other available education objects, then monitor guest education and staff coverage. The five-star requirement is tied to a Franchise zoo, so a five-star result in Sandbox does not satisfy that description. Spread education coverage around habitats instead of concentrating every object at one entrance, and keep the relevant staff assigned and accessible.
Breeding, adoption and conservation objectives
The animal goals mix one-time milestones with exact cumulative thresholds. Keep a written tally or spreadsheet; the game’s counters can be spread across zoos and may be difficult to reconstruct after releasing or selling animals.
- ☐ Have 73 baby animals born.
- ☐ Breed an albino animal.
- ☐ Breed a juvenile lion in a zoo with at least 10 species.
- ☐ Release 20 critically endangered animals.
- ☐ Exceed 90% in every genetic category.
- ☐ Breed two different elephant breeds.
- ☐ Adopt the retiring Indian Elephants in Scenario 7 (the “An Elephant Never Forgets” objective).
Working toward 73 births
Births are a cumulative count, not a target for one habitat. Establish several compatible breeding groups, maintain welfare and fertility, and avoid replacing every adult immediately when a new generation arrives. Record births when they occur; selling or releasing the offspring afterward does not erase the birth counter.

Genetics and albino breeding
The genetics objective requires more than a high overall rating: every genetic category must exceed 90%. Select animals with strong values in each category and use the Trade Centre to compare candidates before pairing them. Albino breeding is a separate objective and is not guaranteed by reaching the 90% threshold; continue breeding until an albino offspring appears.

Only releases that meet the critically endangered description count toward the total of 20. Check each species’ conservation status before moving an animal to the release workflow, and retain records so sales, deaths and transfers are not mistaken for releases.
Animal welfare, enrichment and staff management
- ☐ Enable all enrichment items in an exhibit.
- ☐ Hold 30 animals in one habitat, with each animal’s welfare above 75%.
- ☐ Assign three Keepers separate work zones in an eligible zoo mode: Sandbox, Franchise or Challenge.
Thirty animals above 75% welfare
This is an exact single-habitat condition: 30 animals must be in one habitat, and each must be above 75% welfare when the game checks the objective. It is not enough for the habitat’s average to exceed 75%. Before adding the final animals, check space, group size, temperature, cleanliness, nutrition, shelter, disease risk and enrichment for every individual. Pause the game while correcting a problem, then verify the individual welfare panels again.

Enrichment coverage
“Place 25 different enrichment items” is a collection-style milestone, while enabling all enrichment items in an exhibit is a separate completion condition. Rotate through the available item types and confirm that the exhibit’s enrichment panel shows every applicable item enabled; repeating one popular toy will not advance a different-item count.
Keeper work zones
Create three separate work zones and assign one Keeper to each. The objective allows Sandbox, Franchise or Challenge, but not every mode is accepted for every achievement, so use one of those named modes. Give each zone at least one habitat and a reachable Keeper Hut, then wait for the assignments to register.

The distance requirements are cumulative construction goals, while the loan objective is a cumulative repayment amount. Use the finance and construction panels to confirm totals rather than estimating from map scale.

Zoopedia, geography and zoo-count goals
- ☐ Complete the Zoopedia.
- ☐ Open a zoo in every biome.
- ☐ Open a zoo on every continent.
- ☐ Open 25 Franchise zoos.
Biome and continent are separate checks. A location can satisfy one and not the other, so record both attributes when selecting a new zoo site. The 25-zoo objective is specifically Franchise; opening many Sandbox zoos will not replace it. For a clean tracking sheet, use one row per zoo with columns for Franchise status, biome and continent, then mark the achievement panel after the final location is created.
A practical completion order
- Learn the systems in Career. Create the avatar, adopt and release animals, train staff and work toward the Animal Rating milestone while learning habitat and guest management.
- Open one stable Franchise zoo. Start animal research and education immediately, and use it for the five-star Education Rating.
- Build repeatable breeding habitats. Maintain compatible groups for the 73 births, albino, lion and elephant goals; preserve high-quality animals for the genetic requirement.
- Use a controlled sandbox-style build for infrastructure. In an eligible mode, create separate Keeper work zones, a long barrier network and a connected tracked ride. Confirm the counters after saving.
- Expand Franchise deliberately. Open zoos in missing biomes and continents while progressing toward 25 Franchise zoos. Participate in a community challenge when one is available to your account.
- Finish campaign standards last if necessary. Replay scenarios for missing bronze, silver, gold or Hard results, checking the result screen after every completion.
Common reasons an achievement does not unlock
- Wrong mode: research and education specify Franchise; Keeper work zones specify Sandbox, Franchise or Challenge; a Career-only scenario objective cannot be substituted with a free-build zoo.
- Threshold checked too early: 73 births, 20 critically endangered releases, 10 km of barrier, 1 km of tracked ride and $50,000 repaid are cumulative totals. Keep playing until the counter crosses the exact requirement.
- Average confused with individual welfare: the 30-animal objective requires every animal in the habitat to be above 75% welfare.
- Geography counted incorrectly: biome and continent are independent. Review the site attributes for every zoo.
- Career scope misunderstood: “all Career levels” means the full set of original Career levels named by the achievement, not only a selection of scenarios.
- Console wording assumed from Steam: Console Edition trophies are a separate list. Read the current PlayStation description for the exact mode, scenario and scope before repeating a task.
Using Steam unlock percentages correctly
Steam may display player unlock percentages beside achievements. These are live platform statistics captured at a particular time, not difficulty grades, official completion rates for every owner, or reliable time estimates. Treat them as context only and date-stamp any comparison you make; the requirement text remains the useful checklist.
Console Edition checklist and verification
Console players should begin with the same task categories—Career, Franchise, animal care, breeding, welfare, geography and construction—but must follow the Console Edition trophy interface for the authoritative wording. PlayStation’s listing confirms Career, Franchise, Challenge and Sandbox modes, and Frontier’s list identifies “Chief Curator” as the all-PlayStation-trophies award. Career trophies refer to all original Career levels, so do not silently import Steam’s labels or assume a PC achievement name is present on console.
Because the complete Console Edition list is not reproduced here, the safe process is to open the trophy list, copy each description into a personal checklist, and annotate the required mode or scenario beside it. Pay particular attention to whether a trophy says Franchise, names Scenario 7, specifies a cumulative number or uses a Career-level standard. Mark a trophy only after the console notification and list entry update.
Tracking sheet that prevents missed requirements
Create columns for platform, achievement or trophy wording, mode, scenario, numeric threshold, current count, date completed and evidence. For cumulative goals, record the counter after each session. For one-time goals, keep a note of the zoo and animal involved. This is especially useful for the 73 births, 20 critically endangered releases, genetic categories above 90%, every biome, every continent and 25 Franchise zoos, where a later move or sale can make manual reconstruction difficult.
When every Steam entry is unlocked, Steam’s 38-achievement total should show complete. On PlayStation, the equivalent endpoint is the Console Edition’s “Chief Curator” trophy; the console list itself remains the authority for which individual trophies must be earned.
