Real-life images shared by Rozetked and reported on May 13, 2024, appeared to show the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL together before Google announced the phones. The photographs highlighted a redesigned camera island and different finishes, while diagnostic-app readings supplied unconfirmed specifications. Google later confirmed some claims, including the Tensor G4 and RAM configurations, but the leak was not an exact specification sheet.
What the leaked images showed
The report attributed the photographs to Rozetked. One image showed three apparent devices side by side, identified at the time as the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL; their names had not yet been confirmed by Google. Other comparisons placed the phones beside the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8, and a Pro model beside an iPhone 15 Pro.

The images appeared to show a camera island separated from the familiar full-width Pixel camera bar, flat-looking front and rear panels, and a larger Pro XL beside the smaller-looking models. The standard Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro appeared close in size. The Pro phones looked to have matte rear panels and polished-looking side rails, while the standard model appeared glossier on the back with a matte-looking frame. These are visual observations, not evidence of durability or long-term fingerprint resistance.

The May report said AIDA64 diagnostic software running on the devices supplied some of the hardware details. The figures below were leak-era claims, not Google-confirmed specifications.

- The power behind AI on Google Pixel - Google Tensor G4 is Pixel’s most powerful chip yet.
| Apparent model | Details reported in the leak |
|---|---|
| Pixel 9 | “Tokay” codename; 12GB RAM; 128GB storage; approximately 6.24-inch display; dual cameras with 0.5x and 1x zoom positions |
| Pixel 9 Pro | Approximately 6.34-inch display; 16GB RAM; triple-camera system |
| Pixel 9 Pro XL | “Komodo” codename; 16GB RAM; 128GB storage; approximately 6.73-inch display; triple-camera system |
The report also claimed that all three phones had 120Hz displays, that the Pro cameras offered 0.5x, 1x and 5x zoom positions, and that Ultra Wideband was limited to the Pro models. Treat those as claims from the leak, not proof of final features. “Tokay” and “Komodo” were reported internal codenames, not retail names.
What the camera claims got right—and wrong
The leak described a dual-camera Pixel 9 and triple-camera Pro models, with a 5x zoom position on the Pro phones. Google later said the Pixel 9 shared the Pro models’ main and ultrawide cameras, while the Pro models added a telephoto camera. The final Pro camera specification was 50MP wide, 48MP ultrawide and 48MP 5x telephoto—not three 50MP cameras.
