The Pixel 10a launched in the United States at $499, but a report published October 2, 2026 says Google Store now lists the 128GB model at $599 and the 256GB model at $699. Amazon and Best Buy had also updated their prices, according to 9to5Google. Google had not officially explained the increase when the report appeared.
What changed in the Pixel 10a’s U.S. price?
Google announced the Pixel 10a at $499 on February 18, 2026, with sales beginning March 5. The October 2 report puts both storage tiers $100 higher than their launch prices.

| Pixel 10a model | U.S. launch price | Reported price on October 2, 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| 128GB | $499, announced by Google | $599, reported by 9to5Google | +$100 |
| 256GB | $599, implied by the reported $100 increase and current price | $699, reported by 9to5Google | +$100 |
The $599 and $699 figures are reported U.S. retail prices, not a guarantee of today’s checkout price. Retail promotions, availability and carrier terms can change; check the listing and final cart before buying. The report said Amazon and Best Buy had reflected the new prices as well as the Google Store, but it does not establish that every retailer, carrier or country changed pricing in the same way. 9to5Google’s report is the source for the updated figures.
Why did the Pixel 10a get more expensive?
The reported explanation is rising component costs, including memory. That is an informed explanation in the 9to5Google report, not a confirmed statement from Google: the company had not publicly explained the change at the time. Without an official reason, it is not possible to say whether component costs alone prompted the increase or whether other factors contributed.

Is the Pixel 10a still worth $599?
That depends on what you value and what alternatives cost when you shop. Google’s launch announcement describes a phone with its Tensor G4 chip, Gemini features, a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide camera. Google also claims more than 30 hours of battery life, or up to 120 hours with Extreme Battery Saver; those figures are manufacturer claims, and the extended figure specifically depends on using that mode. Its advertised seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drops support begin from launch, not from the day you buy the phone. See Google’s Pixel 10a announcement for the company’s product details.
The higher price makes it more important to compare the phone with other devices available at your actual purchase price, and to account for any trade-in or promotion. A long support window may matter if you keep phones for years; it does not, by itself, establish that the phone is the best value at $599.

Was $499 only a launch offer?
Google’s February 18 announcement presented $499 as the Pixel 10a’s price, with sales starting March 5; the available information does not establish that $499 was a temporary launch promotion. The later report describes a price increase, but Google had not officially explained it. It is therefore more accurate to call $499 the announced launch price than to assume it was merely a short-term deal.
Should you choose 128GB or 256GB?
At the reported U.S. prices, the 256GB version costs $100 more than the 128GB model. That premium buys twice the stated storage capacity, but it does not change the separate $100 increase applied to each tier. Choose based on how much space you need for apps, photos, video and offline downloads, and whether you expect to keep the phone long enough for storage needs to grow. If you already rely on cloud storage and routinely clear large files, the lower-capacity model may be sufficient; if you prefer keeping substantial media on the phone, the extra capacity may be useful. Compare the live prices before deciding, since a promotion could change the gap.

What to check before buying
- Confirm whether the price is for 128GB or 256GB and whether the listing is for an unlocked phone or a carrier offer.
- Compare the Google Store, Amazon, Best Buy and your carrier’s current checkout price, including any promotion or trade-in value.
- Check the carrier’s terms before treating a lower upfront price as a lower total cost.
- Use Google’s stated seven-year support period from launch as a planning factor, rather than counting seven years from your purchase date.
Google’s launch post also lists Lavender, Berry, Fog and Obsidian color options, along with a recycled aluminum frame and recycled-plastic back. Those are manufacturer specifications, not reasons on their own to pay more. Google’s announcement gives the launch details.
