There is no universal winner: compare the current price of the exact regional storage model, then decide which trade-offs matter more to you.

Which display and size suit you?
The edge 70 max is the choice on paper for a larger, more detailed screen and a higher maximum refresh rate. Its 6.82-inch panel has a 1440 × 3168 resolution and supports up to 144 Hz. The Pixel 10a’s 6.3-inch display is easier to prefer if you want a smaller handset; it is 1080 × 2424 and runs at 60–120 Hz.

Both manufacturers publish peak-brightness figures, but those specifications alone do not establish how the displays compare in every lighting condition. The Pixel’s listed peak is up to 3,000 nits; Motorola lists up to 7,000 nits for the edge 70 max. Treat these as manufacturer specifications, not a matched independent brightness test.
Performance: different chips, no proven speed verdict
Google uses Tensor G4 in the Pixel 10a, while Motorola lists Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 for the edge 70 max. Those are different platforms, and the available specifications do not establish a real-world speed ranking. Clock speeds or chipset names alone are not a reliable substitute for testing the tasks you care about.

Battery capacity and charging
The edge 70 max has a larger listed battery: 7,100 mAh, compared with the Pixel 10a’s typical 5,100 mAh. Motorola also lists 90 W wired charging and 25 W Qi2 magnetic wireless charging. Google supports Qi wireless charging on the Pixel and says its “up to 50% in about 30 minutes” wired-charging claim requires a 45 W USB-C PPS charger or higher.
Battery capacity and charging wattage are specifications, not a guarantee of longer daily use or a specific charging time in every situation. Google describes the Pixel 10a as offering 30+ hours of battery life and up to 120 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. Motorola claims up to 73 hours for the edge 70 max, based on continuous device use under optimal network conditions; Motorola says actual results vary with signal, settings, temperature and battery condition. The claims use different methods, so they are not a head-to-head endurance result.

Camera comparison: specifications are not image-quality results
Motorola lists a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization, an 8 MP ultrawide and a 32 MP front camera. Google identifies the Pixel 10a camera system and promotes its camera and AI features. Megapixel counts do not show which phone takes better photos, and the available evidence does not establish a controlled comparison of the two exact models. Choose based on sample images or testing that matches the photography you do, rather than treating the camera numbers as a verdict.
Storage and regional variants to check
Google lists the Pixel 10a in 128 GB and 256 GB configurations, with 8 GB of RAM. Motorola’s support page lists 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, while an India storefront result also showed 12 GB RAM with 256 GB storage. Because model configurations can vary by market, confirm the precise SKU, storage, warranty and network compatibility before comparing listings.

Software support and durability
Update commitments
Google promises seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drops updates for the Pixel 10a. Google’s stated period starts from the phone’s first availability on Google Store in the US, so the commitment should not be read as seven years from your purchase date. Motorola’s support page lists up to three years of OS updates and security updates until July 2031 for the edge 70 max. Regional support terms may differ; check the policy for the model sold where you live.
Water, dust and drop protection
Google specifies IP68 protection for the Pixel 10a and cautions that water and dust resistance is not permanent and the phone is not drop-proof. Motorola lists IP69/IP68 underwater protection and MIL-STD 810H for the edge 70 max, with a market-variation caveat. Ratings do not make either device indestructible, and warranty coverage is a separate question: review the exact local warranty terms before relying on water-resistance claims.

There is no single enduring price difference in the available figures because they represent different kinds of India pricing: a launch price, a Motorola storefront snapshot and third-party marketplace offers. The figures below are 2026 observations, not a guarantee of today’s checkout price.
| Phone and source | Price observed | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel 10a, Google India | ₹49,999 | Announced India launch price. Google said the phone was available starting March 6, 2026, through Google Store, Flipkart and major retailers (Google India product announcement). |
| Motorola edge 70 max, Motorola India storefront | ₹54,999 selling price; ₹89,999 MRP | Storefront result observed in 2026, not a durable market price. |
| Google Pixel 10a, 91mobiles | ₹51,643 | Amazon-linked offer displayed when the comparison page was accessed in 2026; offer and listing can change (91mobiles comparison page). |
| Motorola edge 70 max, 91mobiles | ₹53,770 | Amazon-linked offer displayed when the comparison page was accessed in 2026; offer and listing can change (91mobiles comparison page). |
These prices are not directly interchangeable: the Pixel figure from Google is a launch price, Motorola’s is a storefront observation, and 91mobiles displayed marketplace offers. To calculate a useful difference, compare live offers in the same country on the same date, with the same storage where possible and equivalent seller, warranty and availability terms.

- Consider the edge 70 max if a much larger, higher-resolution, faster-refresh display, higher listed wired-charging wattage and larger battery capacity matter more.
- For camera quality or battery life, look for comparable testing of these exact models; the listed specifications and manufacturer claims do not settle a head-to-head result.
