Pinterest Blocked Our New Domain as Spam—and Denied the Appeal: What to Do Next

A denied Pinterest appeal does not, by itself, prove that a domain-wide ban is permanent—but Pinterest’s public guidance does not promise a second review either. First identify whether the notice concerns your domain, one Pin, your account, or merchant or ad content; then correct any link you control and use only the appeal or dispute route that applies to your notice and location.

What a Pinterest spam block can mean

Pinterest says it may block links that redirect, contain misleading, inappropriate or spam-like material, or otherwise violate its Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. It also recommends linking directly to the source and says some redirects and URL shorteners are not allowed. Those are possible grounds, not an explanation of why a particular new domain was blocked. Pinterest’s public guidance does not disclose the detection evidence behind an individual decision.

Read the exact notice before treating an error on one Pin as a site-wide block. A notice might concern a domain, a particular URL, an account, or merchant or advertising content, and Pinterest describes different routes for links and enforcement decisions. The title alone does not establish which one applies.

Check and correct the link you control

  1. Record the affected destination. Copy the full URL shown on the Pin and note whether the notice names that URL, the domain, or another object.
  2. Follow the redirects. Check each destination and confirm the final landing page is available and accurately matches what the Pin promises. Remove avoidable shorteners or redirects and link directly to the source when possible, consistent with Pinterest’s link guidance.
  3. Edit your own Pin if its Website link is wrong. Pinterest allows creators to edit the Website field on Pins they created. You cannot change the link on a Pin saved from Pinterest or through the browser button. Editing a link may correct that Pin, but Pinterest does not say it will lift an existing domain-level restriction.

What to do after an appeal is denied

Keep the denial and follow any instructions or links in that specific decision. Pinterest’s 2024 DSA report describes appeals through the Help Center, a one-click link in an enforcement email, and, where available, the Reports and Violations Center. Availability varies by feature and location; Pinterest may limit appeals for a decision and may suspend processing of frequent unfounded or abusive appeals. The public documentation does not establish a universal additional appeal route after a denial.

If the notice permits another submission or review, make it specific. Keep the original notice and case reference, the blocked URL, screenshots, redirect destinations, and a concise account of any changes you made. This evidence can help explain the issue, but Pinterest does not list it as a guaranteed-review checklist.

Which route applies to your situation?

Situation Action or route Important limit
A link on a Pin you created is incorrect or blocked Edit its Website field and link directly to the source where possible. Pinterest link guidance Does not promise to clear a domain restriction; links on Pins saved from Pinterest or via the browser button cannot be changed by you.
An enforcement decision offers an appeal Use the Help Center, the appeal link in the notice email, or the Reports and Violations Center when available. Pinterest 2024 DSA report Availability varies, and repeat appeals may be limited.
You are an EU user disputing an eligible decision Check the Digital Services Act process; certain decisions may be appealed within six months, and eligible disputes may go to a certified out-of-court settlement body. Eligibility depends on the decision and local rules. A settlement outcome is not binding on Pinterest or the user.
You are a qualifying EU/UK business user with restricted account or content Follow the process in the restriction email and review Pinterest’s Platform to Business information. Pinterest names ICC and CEDR for mediation. This is not a general route for every user; it applies to qualifying European Business Users.
You need to establish that a site belongs to your Pinterest account Use an available website-claim method described in Pinterest’s website-claim instructions. Claiming verifies the relationship between a site and an account; it is not documented as a way to reverse spam enforcement.

Keep website verification separate from the appeal

Pinterest says claiming a website requires ownership of the domain, subdomain, or path and the ability to edit its source code. The listed options include an HTML tag, an HTML file, DNS TXT, and, for some accounts, Google Merchant Center. A site may be claimed by only one account; Pinterest says DNS TXT propagation can take up to 72 hours. These steps verify a site-account relationship, not the merits of a spam decision.

Do not confuse a domain block with a temporary rate limit

Pinterest describes a separate temporary account block triggered by repeated actions, including saving many Pins from the same website quickly; it says most such limits lift automatically within 24 hours. That guidance concerns rate limits, not a domain described as spam. Check the wording and subject of your notice rather than assuming the 24-hour period applies. Pinterest’s rate-limit guidance

What the available information cannot establish

Without the notice, its date and wording, the affected URL, redirect behavior, appeal correspondence, account type, and country, it is not possible to determine why Pinterest blocked this domain or which further process is available. Pinterest’s cited public materials do not promise reinstatement, disclose the evidence behind this specific block, or guarantee another review after a denial. Do not infer a cause or an entitlement to another appeal from the fact that the domain is new.
