Nintendo’s compatibility information says the Switch game is supported on Nintendo Switch 2. In practical terms, a new buyer does not need a second base-game purchase merely to play the Switch version on the newer console. Buying for the first time
At the reported $40 price, the base game is the straightforward choice. You receive Pikmin 4 for Nintendo Switch and can use it on a Switch 2 according to Nintendo’s compatibility listing. If the upgrade pack is later useful to you, its regional price can be considered separately; there is no reason to purchase a second base-game copy solely because you have moved to Switch 2.
