There is no confirmed native phpLD feature or standalone product in the available documentation called “PHP Link Directory Screenshot Processor.” If you want thumbnail previews for directory listings, first identify your phpLD version and any plugin or processor you intend to use. A separate screenshot API is one possible implementation; it is not a built-in phpLD feature or a verified integration.
First identify your phpLD version and the processor
The title can refer to different things: legacy PHP Link Directory Version 5, the current PHPLD Next rebuild, a private plugin, or a custom screenshot workflow. The cited manuals and product pages do not establish that a feature named “Screenshot Processor” ships with either phpLD edition.
Check the package name and version, its included documentation, and the plugin or code that is supposed to create screenshots. Do not assume a tutorial or API example is compatible with your installation until you have checked that specific release.
Installing PHP Link Directory is separate from adding screenshots
Legacy PHP Link Directory Version 5
The Version 5 manual describes uploading and unpacking the application, renaming /include/config.php.new to /include/config.php, setting permissions for the configuration and temporary directories, and preparing a database. Its browser installer checks compatibility, collects database settings, populates the database, and creates an administrator account. After installation, the manual directs administrators to remove installation files and restrict write access to the configuration file. These are legacy, version-specific instructions; consult the manual and verify the package and server before applying them: PHP Link Directory Version 5 manual.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
PHPLD Next
The PHPLD Next feature page describes a browser installer that takes database details, creates an administrator account, and collects basic site settings. It lists directory features such as categories, listings, submissions, custom fields, media, spam protection, language packs, and administrative maintenance tools. It does not document built-in screenshot generation. Check the PHPLD Next product page and the package you actually install for current release behavior.
Do not transfer Version 5 installation steps to PHPLD Next by assumption. The official PHPLD support page discusses install help and upgrade questions, but does not identify or document a screenshot processor.

How website-preview thumbnails can be added
A third-party tutorial dated March 29, 2026 demonstrates a general architecture: request a screenshot from an external service, cache the resulting image, and connect capture and storage to the directory’s application data. This is an implementation example, not proof of a phpLD-integrated processor, official support, or compatibility with a particular phpLD release: tutorial on adding link-directory screenshots.
- Confirm the listing data flow. Identify where the directory stores each listing URL and which template or view displays its preview. The exact files and database fields depend on your phpLD package and any customizations.
- Choose where captures run. The tutorial describes an external screenshot API; its discussion also mentions a self-hosted headless-browser approach. An API delegates browser execution to a service, while self-hosting means operating the browser runtime yourself. The tutorial does not establish a universally preferred option.
- Capture and store deliberately. Associate each result with the listing record, store or cache the image, and define when it should be refreshed. Confirm the chosen service’s current API, terms, and capture controls before implementing the flow.
- Display the image through your directory’s own template. Use the actual template and storage conventions of your installed release; do not assume the tutorial’s integration code applies unchanged.
- Test failure and refresh behavior. Check what your implementation does when a target page is blank, slow, inaccessible, or returns no usable image, and ensure a failed capture does not break the listing page.
ScreenshotOne publishes a PHP SDK repository for taking URL screenshots through its API: ScreenshotOne PHP SDK. The repository establishes that a PHP client exists, not that the SDK is required or compatible with a particular phpLD version.

For an API-based implementation, ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL in one GET request and returns an image or PDF. Before capture, it can accept consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with response headers indicating the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The API can also cache captures with a chosen TTL, and its parameter names are compatible with those used by other screenshot APIs.
Example cURL request (replace the target URL as needed):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication and supported parameters. ScreenshotNeo offers 1,000 screenshots a month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Learn about ScreenshotNeo or sign up for the free plan.

What to verify before shipping
- The precise phpLD edition and release installed, and whether the screenshot component is a plugin, custom code, or external service.
- The capture provider’s current API behavior, terms, and supported controls.
- Where images are stored, how long they remain valid, and how the application handles refreshes and capture failures.
- That a failed or delayed screenshot does not prevent users from viewing or submitting directory listings.
